So, perhaps going to a drive in theatre with Dallas when you knew that you would be on your period wasn’t the best idea, but who would blame you? Skipping out on the one-in-a-lifetime dates that you got with Dally just to moan and groan in misery at home? No way.
His truck roamed around, trying to find a parking spot before finally squeezing through two cars.
He turned the key out of the hole, glancing over his shoulder at you before jumping out of the drivers side.
You clutched your stomach, small shocks rolling through you as you searched his car for some pain medicine-ibuprofen, Tylenol, anything to help with the cramps.
Your door flinged open revealing your boyfriend standing there, a pack of cigarettes peaking out from the pocket of his jacket.
You plastered a bright smile on your face, letting him take your hand and pull you down like the gentleman he wasn’t.
You two roamed around the grassy lot, attempting to find two empty seats in the crowded theatre.
You glanced around, eyes landing on some of the last seats left. “Let’s go, dally! I found some seats.”
He smirks, letting you drag him over.
You sit at the edge, placing your purse in front of you. Dallas settled in beside you draping a heavy arm across the back of your chair.
The chatter across the field quiets down once the movie starts, lights drifting shut.
You watch as the main character floats around New York, stopping at shops. A dull ache starts in your stomach again, slowly growing until it consumes you.
You shift around, your arm pressing harshly into your stomach in an attempt to slow the pain. You could barely focus on the screen in front of you as you breathe in and out, in and out.
You were so distracted that you didn’t notice dally staring at you until his right up in your face, hot breath ticking your cheek.
“What’s wrong, hm doll?” He murmurs, making you squirm. “It’s nothing, dal, don’t worry about it.” He really looks at you now, noticing the lines of pain on your face as you tried to hide it, your hand desperately pressing down on where it hurts.
He stands up suddenly, your skirt ruffling softly as he pulls you up with him, leaning down to pick up the black purse that clearly doesn’t match with his outfit before ushering you back to the car waiting.
Your body hits the worn leather seats before you can even process what’s happening, the door closing behind you.
You turn to look at dally, confusion clearly written all over your face. “Why’d you bring us back here? M’fine, I can watch it,” you say, sinking into the seat below you.
He scoffs, fumbling to reach for a cigarette in the pocket of his shirt. “Yeah right. You on your period or something?” He asks, voice slightly mumbled from the cylinder hanging from his lips.
You look down at your lap, fingers fidgeting with each other, nodding. “Mhm. It’s nothing…I just have cramps..”
You hear a soft groan from beside you, the sound of dally shifting before he pulls out a pack of small tablets, popping one of them out of the aluminum before handing it to you with a water bottle.
“Take it, it’ll help.” You nod at his words, swallowing the pill with a big gulp of water to help it go down.
He shoved the key into the car, the sound of the engine pulling you out of your pain-haze.
“We don’t have to go home. Really! I’m fine..”
He shakes his head, flicking the cigarette out of the window before pulling out of the drive in.
The rest of the drive was quiet, filled with croaking from outside and leaves moving against each other.
The second you unlocked your door, you were being ushered to your bedroom by dally, not even getting a chance to take off your shoes.
Dally lays you down on the bed, draping a blanket over your body before leaving the room.
You stare up at the dark ceiling as dally enters again, this time with a glass of water.
Your eyes follow his body as he places the clear glass on the bedside table before lying behind you, draping his warm arm over your stomach.
You automatically snuggle back into the warmth, and with Dallas lulling you to sleep, you go off to dreamland pretty quickly, filled with love and comfort.
