I said all this to that weirdo too but GENUINELY why do “animal advocates” exhibit this visceral knee-jerk horror for the death of an animal solely when it’s by human hands for human benefit? Like even if an animal is fat and happy and healthy for years before a farmer abruptly kills them for meat, there’s people who will absolutely scream and cry about it as a societal atrocity or call the meat industry “the other holocaust” but if the very same animal lived for six months in the woods before a coyote disemboweled it or wood ticks drained the life out of it then that’s “natural” so it’s automatically morally more right? It’s like those religious cults we were just on about who think it’s better to let people die suffering in poverty because it’s more Holy. That’s all this stuff is. It’s the same arbitrary concept of Holiness vs. Unholiness filtered through a simultaneously atheistic and unscientific romanticism of what they think “nature” is.
Lol it’s extremely not that? And the difference is awareness and necessity. A coyote killing an animal for food is not optional for that coyote, it’s survival. They cannot go meat-free without getting sick and dying nor do they have the ability to reason and choose about that at the level of *human* consciousness. Humans are highly intelligent (for animals) omnivores, we can both 1. choose not to eat meat and still be perfectly healthy, especially given the technology and globalization etc that make it so many people have many food options and 2. obviously have a more developed sense of morality and empathy than an animal?? And can therefore be expected to operate accordingly? Like? Are you for real with that argument
Cause the thing is you know all that, you just want to escape judgment and thinking about your choices by being like “but the ANIMALS maim and murder and inflict pain so I, a human, should also be able to”? What? Do you also see incidents of provoked animals tearing humans apart in the jungle or something and think “man I wish I could do that without the judgment”?
This obviously does not include any human being that has limited food options or some illness and does in fact eat meat for survival. Most people eat meat simply for pleasure. And don’t act like you don’t know that it isn’t just “abruptly” killing a cow, it’s a hell of a lot more inhumane and large scale than that. Tell me you genuinely don’t know the difference between an ecosystem and a factory (torture) farm whose sole purpose is to make profit off of pleasure. I’ll watch lmao
@bogleech
I can’t help but notice that even when we specify *repeatedly* that we’re talking only about the moment of death, people like you try to make it about bad factory farming, but we all know you get the same way if someone actually hunts their own food from the wild and kills it cleanly. We can all agree factory farming has to change but you’re using the extreme as emotional manipulation to push an absolute.
And why do you folks say “eating for PLEASURE” like that’s not one of our fundamental reasons to live at all? Access to food you find appetizing is so critical to happiness it absolutely counts as a necessity, that’s why we would consider it evil to feed a child only gruel no matter how nutritious.
It’s like saying people only want love or friendship in their life “for pleasure” like that’s disgusting and shameful. We are wired to want social interaction and we are wired to crave both plant and animal based foods. The only thing wrong are the conditions animals are often raised in, not the death or the consumption themselves. You really thought this nonsensical moral objectivist human exceptionalism of yours was such a good take you even @ed me? You people really love doing that lately. Nobody values your “judgment” of them enough to want to “escape” it, either; we literally just want you to stop going around bullying and insulting people over food like this.
FOR EVERYONE ELSE PLZ NOTE this is not an argument that you should eat meat, it’s an argument that you should let other people eat meat without looking down on or attacking them. I hope I also made it clear that this is not saying there’s nothing wrong with the meat industry or that there aren’t major overhauls we need to do. There are also major overhauls we need to do for plant AG too.
I’ve never told you this and it probably means you’ll have to fire me, but… well actually, I’m in love with you. Yes, I mean… I mean in that way. Completely. And I know, I know you don’t see me in that way. It’s perfectly fine. I’m a grown-up. I just thought I’d lighten the gloom with something totally unexpected.

the idea that being closeted is being a liar is a heterosexual propaganda that hates queer people protecting themselves. you don't have to come out if you're not safe.
You also don't have to come out if you are.
weird but true: you don't owe anyone in your life information about you! you get to choose what you share about yourself! you don't have to tell everyone your dreams or fears or religion, and you sure as hell don't have to tell them that you're queer if you don't want to!
What’s the point in saving the world if you don’t get to enjoy it sometimes?
-Oh, you like me? Tell me that when you're sober.
-Okay, I will. I mean, I'll have a headache, but I'll still feel the same.
