dude it's just politics, it doesn't matter. all it does is shape every single aspect of the society you live in from the second you are born until forever

rare bittern...
happy 20 year anniversary of Neil banging out the tunes!
though every rat is special, it's a wonderful and unusual thing for their accomplishments to be remembered and cherished by so many people so many years later. we're all so fortunate to know about the rat who banged out the tunes!
thank you to all the people who sent me reference photos of their beloved rats for this piece!!! credits under the cut!
Definitely one of the Top Images of all time I gotta say
The most dangerous flightless bird in Australia is sitting under a beach umbrella stealing grapes.
It is a lovely day in Australia, and you are a horrible cassowary.
I love the reference, but calling a cassowary horrible is redundant. Like saying, “a feline cat” or, “a boneless slug.” It’s an inherent quality necessary to be a cassowary that cannot change.
unrestrained summer fun
can you make a Fred Figglehorn stamp that just says death to America
I don’t even want to write a review of “Top Gun: Maverick” honestly, I’ve seen 1,500+ movies and I’ve never finished one that left me more depressed about the future of this country. I just want to stop thinking about it
By popular demand:
The White House just shared a video using footage from “Top Gun: Maverick” right before real footage of US bombs hitting Iran. I am sorry to announce that I have been 100% vindicated in my views on this movie.
hold on let me try to invent a version of myself who can get us out of this mess [holds really still for a minute and a half and then turns to you with a flat affect] we probably should have killed ourselves an hour ago

Sunbittern (Eurypyga helias), family Eurypygidae, order Eurypygiformes, Costa Rica
This bird is the only member of its family.
Its closest living relative is the Kagu of New Caldeonia.

Perfectly Ultimate Great Bittern
we should globally ban the introduction of more powerful computer hardware for 10-20 years, not as an AI safety thing (though we could frame it as that), but to force programmers to optimize their shit better
I reblogged this like 9 times kinda jokingly, but software should be able to run on older and less powerful hardware, and consume less power on newer hardware. Like, this is a real problem imo
I completely agree with this but I do need you to understand that the image above is 32 times the size of the lunar mission’s memory
I just wanna go back to windows wasn't embarrassing to have as your OS. maybe this year is Linux year
