still upset anyagiles wasnât endgame. devastated, even. one I think he would treat her better than xander ever did. two giles absolutely lays pipe better than xander EVER did. three someone makes a may/december snide remark about anya and giles and she SNAPS at them like âgod forbid you let a demon have fun with a boytoy a couple hundred years her juniorâ
she just has so many issues wrt getting older, but with giles she tells him during pillow talk like âIâm glad youâre going to be senile and die way before i go thru menopause and my pussy gets dryâ (affectionate) and heâs like â????? thanks. also I know a spell for magic lubeâ
PSA the "si" in shared YouTube links stand for Seal Indicator. This means there is a nefarious seal tracking your information and will give YouTube your data in exchange for fish. Please remove the part after "?si=" before you click on it or share the link with others because it is a tracking token!
This is true of any url! You can delete everything agher the ? when you share a url and it will delete all the tracking bits.
would like to add that the stuff after ? isn't always a tracking token, sometimes it contains important info for the link to actually work (e.g. it could contain the video ID). however, try opening a link without the ? string; if it works then there's no harm in getting rid of it đŠđ
further info for nerds: the ? means "now we will list the parameters." each parameter has some piece of info that affects how the page loads. anything after the ? that's not an = or a & is either a parameter or a parameter value. the format is always [name of parameter]=[value of parameter]&[next parameter]=[next parameter value]
go find a youtube video that's in a playlist, and you'll see something like www.youtube.com/watch?v=GySIToHCPac?list=PLbmM_M6fjs7wkQUz3Sr8e&index=4
the v is the video ID, the list is the playlist ID, and the index is which spot in the playlist you're at! if you don't like the playlist you can just delete everything but the video ID! and if there's an si= at the end of all that, definitely delete it so the seal won't steal your data.
gentle reminder that if u feel hungry soon after eating, it might be bc youâre eating mostly carbs without adding enough protein. try eating a handful of nuts or smthing alongside your next meal.
and you donât have to change the recipe or anything! you can eat what you were going to, just add some cheese cubes or a handful of nuts or salami slices on the side. u donât have to change your meals, just add a little extra protein
thats nice but what do I need to do If I wake up around 3 am every other night with an unquenchable hunger for flesh even tho I ate normal balanced meals trough the day?
spoonful of peanut butter
another way to manage the undying hunger for flesh is to eat 15-20 live crickets. their souls are weaker than most other animals that size but they are easy to get a hold of and have the best flavor
this checks out!
Omg this looks like some sort of Fairytale Horror; like, a town with trees that have missing pets or people etched into them- coming off naturally enough to be dismissed as bark/tree discolouration
The framing of this image is just perfect subtle horror.Â
Chill itâs a pole
you missed the tree entirely didnt you buddy
HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK
Please read the whole thing. Â
Now I will argue that Batmanâs motivations (protecting the innocent), level of preparedness, and the fact that he doesnât kill people, put him miles above the current uniformed fascists charged with maintaining the status quo and protecting property. That being said I think this would be an innovative take on the Batman mythos, and have social commentary guaranteed to piss the wrong people (by which I mean the right people) right off. Personally Iâd watch the shit out of that. đ
[Image descriptions in order: a twitter thread by @StorySlug âSean Kellyâ which goes âOne of the big problems with âdark and grittyâ Batman movies is that the people writing them canât craft a mystery thatâs so complex only Batman can solve it, so Batmanâs âsuperpowerâ ends up being âthe ability to violate peopleâs Constitutional rights.â]
[Batman âgets resultsâ because he doesnât have to follow the rules that cops do, thus implying that cops would be so much more effective at their jobs if they didnât have to follow those rules.
âAnd the grittier the Batman movie is, the fewer powers heâs granted through his wealth. In a heightened reality Batman has supercomputers, ninja skills, fascinating nonlethal gadgets.
A gritty batman has all the same powers as a cop in riot armor with no legal restrictions.
"If Jim Gordon tied up a criminal and beat the shit out of him while screaming "Tell me where the girl is!â he would be subject to lawsuits, suspensions, etc.
Batmanâs only âsuperpowerâ in a gritty movie is that nobody can stop him from hurting people.]
[âThe Batman of the 80s and 90s had "wonderful toysâ that did set him apart from the police force, and they emphasized his battles against similarly heightened supervillains with ray guns and magic plants and exploding rubber ducks. Heâs not just putting muggers in wheelchairs.
âWhen Batman was first created, policing was very primitive, and the gulf between what the cops had - six-shooters and cars that didnât have seatbelts - and what Batman has was much greater, which made the necessity of Batman seem much greater.
"Nowadays though, when a GCPD officer calls in that the suspect is driving a "black⊠tank?â it gets a laugh, but why? Cops have tanks. Cops have lots of tanks. They have armor on-par with what a gritty Batman wears. They have shock guns and gas grenades and thermal imaging.â]
["Physically, cops nowadays have pretty much all the same capabilities as Batman does. The only thing that makes him different from them is that heâs gets to be *WORSE* than them.
"This is what makes Batman an advertisement for abusive policing, packed movie theatres cheering for brutal violations of our social contract and an implication that we could have thousands of Batmans if weâd just look the other way and let cops take care of things.
"And truly, Iâve got a lot of Angry Facebook Uncles who have said just that when talking about the protests in our cities these last several months, "If we all just looked the other way for a night the cops could take care of this once and for all.ââ]
["How does one address this?
Simple: make Joe Chill a cop.
"Itâs hardly beyond the scope of imagination that a crooked cop in an economically-blighted city could be committing crimes on the side. Our real history is full of cops committing domestic abuse, rape, murder.
"So make Joe Chill into Officer Joe Chill, ten-year veteran of the GCPD. He tries to rob the Waynes, things go sideways, and he guns them down.
Bruce identifies him at the station, the other cops cover for him, say Bruce is confused.â]
[âJoe Chill says that yes, it was his police sidearm used in the murder, but thatâs because his gun was stolen from him. You know how these animals in Gotham can be.
He gets two months paid leave as punishment for losing his sidearm.
"So instead of spending ten years learning how to fight against street crime and mob bosses, he spends ten years with his eyes firmly fixed on police corruption, the blue boyâs club that protects murderers.
"Bruce knows that when cops die, thatâs when cities crack down in new and horrifying ways, so heâs careful to never take a life. When he catches a cop beating his wife, or shaking down a store owner, or abusing a black man at a traffic stop, he leaves them tied up and dangling.â]
[âConservative pundits around Gotham would immediately label Batman a menace, and even as Batman starts using his computers and surveillance cameras to prove he was in the right, that these cops were dirty, people would still flock to defend the copâs bullshit version of events.
"Joe Chill, of course, is now the Commissioner. Untouchable, beloved by the public for a series of high-profile crackdowns on things like petty theft and homeless people sleeping on subway vents for warmth.
"Heâs sending in cops in riot armor to break up tent villages under overpasses, heâs arresting people who try to feed the homeless, heâs making the cops more and more militarized, and Gothamâs wealthy elite love him for it.â]
[âJim Gordon is explicitly called out in the story for being the coward he is. In most portrayals of his early career heâs seen as a lone good cop surrounded by corrupt ones, but Batman shames him for the things heâs allowed to happen right in front of him.
"Bruce Wayne, meanwhile, has returned to Gotham after a long absence and is upsetting the wealthy elite with the way he behaves. Heâs opened Wayne Manor to the indigent of Gotham City, the entire grounds are swarming with poor people.
He doesnât allow cops inside.
"The people have had enough, theyâre rising up in protest against the cops. And the cops are out for blood, riot shields at the ready, gas grenades prepared. Theyâve got beanbag rounds and tasers and batons.â]
[âBut the people of Gotham have Batman.
When the cops get ready to assault the peaceful protesters, thatâs when Batman drops out of the sky, neutralizing their "less-lethalâ armaments, taking them down before they can hurt anyone.
âBatman takes control of the satellites around Gotham, broadcasting live to the whole world with instant replay what each cop was trying to do before Batman intervened.
"Eventually, as happens sometimes, the tide of public opinion turns enough that some officers start getting disciplined, and when that happens furious cops start quitting the force in droves, closing down entire precincts in protest.
"Youâll be begging for us backâ they say.â]
["Except they donât.
Thatâs when Bruce Wayne steps in, using whatâs left of his money and privilege to fund new alternatives to policing in that part of Gotham. Showing a new way of doing things. Volunteers going door to door to help their neighbors.
"And each volunteer wears a bat pin on their chest.â
â#Defund Batmanâ]
do bugs get muscle cramps? do fish get tension headaches? how big and complicated does a body have to get before it'll just fuck itself up for no reason?
For my birthday my best friend got me a set of glasses that, when you stack them, look like a fish! Genius!
A HANDY CHART FOR THOSE OF YOU WONDERING WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THESE. NOTE THAT THESE ARE ALL THE INFORMAL AND YOU IS THE FORMAL SO LIKE YOU WOULD ALWAYS ADDRESS YOUR SUPERIOR/ OLDER PERSON/ SOCIAL BETTER WITH YOU BUT WITH YOUR BUDS YOU CAN USE THESE.Â
Hey everyone, looks like the âcat summoned for jury dutyâ was ai generated - even has the ai symbol at the top. Thanks for the heads up, @cannot-all-throw-inkpots . My apologies- I did not realize when I shared it.
Aww dangit. Guess that makes sense, but it was so believable because I can 100% see that kind of goofup happening
Some positive news: There really WAS a cat summoned for jury duty back in 2010. Turns out the error was quickly corrected and the cat did NOT actually have to travel to the courthouse. But at least we can enjoy the fact that a papereork glitch did once try to give a cat jury duty XD
the mandela effect is so funny bc almost all of it can be boiled down to "you were a kid and memory is highly unreliable," "you assumed how a word was spelled based on how it sounded," or "you're confusing two different things"
fruits and vegetables shown in a cornucopia is a highly common visual symbol, especially in the states around thanksgiving. rich old men are commonly portrayed with monocles in cartoons.
it's pronounced "chick." it's pronounced "berenSTEEN" and someone probably read it to you more than you read it yourself. It's pronounced Oscar "MAI-yer" and you probably remember the jingle more than the logo. It's pronounced "fuh-BREEZE" and you barely look at the logo even when you use it. you assumed it was looney toons because they are cartoons. you assumed there was a dash in kit kat because it sounds like a word that could be hyphenated. it's pronounced FRUIT loops.
you conflated the black on Pikachu's ears with his tail
"jiffy" is a word while jif is not + "skippy" is another common peanut butter brand
curious george is a chimp and thus would not have a tail but a child might assume all "monkeys" have tails
anything else
okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.
theyâre sharing
itâs a key difference in perception. fic isnât given. itâs shared. itâs part of a fandom communityâ in which readers are also an integral part.
itâs probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people
but like. fandom is sharing. i think weâve lost that somewhere.
reading about the participation of children in rituals as a form of play in ancient greece and came across an incredibly charming story from julius pollux's onomasticon where a flood prevented the adults from reaching a sanctuary to sacrifice a ram to heracles, and the children solved the problem by....sticking a bunch of sticks in an apple to give it "legs" and "horns" and offering it as a sacrifice instead. it's such a charming thought and i can perfectly picture kids these days also pretending at sacrificing an apple "goat" at recess
catch me on the playground playing sacrifices
I want to learn more exclamations that arenât strictly just religious stuff. âJesus Christâ this, âoh my godâ that, nah I want something fresh.
What are some of yâallâs favorite exclamations that arenât about god?
first submission and we're already off to a fantastic start. absolutely love this one thank you
ok its time for the challenge round now we want nominations that arent about sex either actually
had a friend who used to make new ones up on the spot. The only one that stuck with me was 'good golly jelly beans'. If something catastrophic happens I go for 'that's not ideal.'
@chekhovs-tantrum
Absolutely not letting you leave these in the tags.
