Realised I never posted Goo-man on here! Goo-man is possibly one of my favourite Lord Huron characters. I drew this shortly after The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1 was released. I was inspired by the Goo-man Spotify background image for the song It All Comes Back.
Kinda terrified of whatever cliffhanger Ch. 5 is gonna end on.
What do you see, Starscream? …This is super inspired by Soundwave’s original/g1 bio (shown below) 😮💨 and like how in Marvel G1 Soundwave kinda does have that friendly facade.. but Starscream tended to see him how he truly is whereas Megatron and Shockwave tended to blindly believe in Soundwave’s loyalty (but then even Starscream still had a little bit of a blind eye to Soundwave’s act a few times too)… I wish Soundwave having that affable surface yet opportunistic personality showed up more in continuities tho, it would be so interesting to see him like that again and more

RED ROCKS AMPITHEATHER I’M COMIN’ BACK FOR YOU BABY!
I was reading through the pictures of the Tune Prism magazine, and discovered this on the Back Page.
Like that’s it, that’s the GunThunder guitar!
Someone in the LH universe is selling Roy Casey’s guitar from GunThunder for $140 🥀 Times Blur really does come for everyone, even a guitar isn’t safe from it. :(
Is there anybody out there?
Lil piece dedicated to Lord Huron before the Red Rocks concert!!! I'm SO excited!!
imagine you live in transformers world and you're walking down the street and you see a car that you're pretty sure is one of the autobots so you ask the car "hey are you an autobot" and the car says "no" so you go oh ok and you continue down the street until you realise
I’m ready for Supergirl summer!
Something something the LH afterlife is (multiple times) described as being a black void, but then this place in the picture is alluded to also being some sort of afterlife, if everyone’s blurred faces are anything to go by. Unless it’s a place still on earth and they’re all ghosts. is the void the equivalent of some kind of hell and there are other levels of it or what
I sort of think of most of the Time's Blur type scenes as representative of a nostalgic memory, so it's possible that this was one of Tubbs' (or the whole studio's) memories that's been warped, faded, smudged, and idealized over the years! Or, Alternatively, perhaps the "pure black void" is less of an afterlife and more of an Experience Of Death, and this setting with the bar is a more pleasant, proper afterlife for souls? It's so interesting to think of all the different angles you can look at it from I love this band and its loreeeee
Pick your favorite Lord Huron lyric about ghosts!
I saw a ghost; he looked the same as me.
All the spirits that I know I saw... do you see no ghost in me at all?
I glimpsed a ghost in the darkness, stared me straight in the eye.
All who sail off the coast will remember the tale of the ghost on the shore.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do, haunted by the ghost of you.
Love is like ghosts; few have seen it, but everybody talks.
I made a life out of chasing a ghost.
I land on an island coast where the only souls I see are the ghosts.
I'm a fool, I'm a ghost, so it seems, drowning in my squandered dreams.
Love is like ghosts; the moonlight, baby, shows you what's real.
Spirits follow everywhere I go; they sing all day and they haunt me in the night
Love is like ghosts; what ain't living can never really die.
I’ve been thinking about a character that I used to love. Now, though, that I’m more mature, I’m not sure how to approach handling that character in nearly any capacity. But. But that character’s central premise has stuck with me.
What if the tragic character intentionally set up his tragedy?
What if the tragic character slowly began to hate himself before the tragedy began, and that fatal flaw only became one later in life? What if he ended up hating himself so much, to the point that he ruined his life, while knowing full-well what he was doing and why? What if the actual tragic part of the story was that he ended up hurting his loved ones, instead of himself, by doing this? What if he saw and recognized that, but was so stuck in his self-loathing mindset that he didn’t know how to fix it?
What if, in the end, the tragic character decides, “fuck it, I’m going to destroy myself, and hurt you, and in doing so, hurt myself”? What if, upon realizing that he doesn’t know how to live after that, he ends up making the same decision again by running away? What if the tragic character miraculously finds an opportunity to break his tar-pit mindset through said running away, and takes it?
Afterwards, what becomes of his loved ones, the friends and family that became his only way to hurt himself? The tragic character obviously wasn’t mentally well, but there wasn’t much they could do to help him if he couldn’t help himself. Should they feel mad? Hate the tragic character? Wallow in pity? Push themselves to the brink by trying to not end up like him?
Maybe, just maybe, they too could take the opportunity of being separated from the tragic character to heal? To not mentally flagellate themselves with their memories of the tragic character and his actions, but to find comfort in them, and be safe in the knowledge that perhaps he too is getting better?
holy shit have you evver tried this new substance called album in order
