At least they get to choose the job instead of being forced to work in a factory under threat of death
You think people get to choose their jobs under capitalism? Lmaoooo. Tell that to the people making minimum wage at Wal-Mart so they don't starve to death.
They choose to work that minimum wage job instead of working in a field that pays more.
Are you really so stupid as to think people willingly choose to work making minimum wage in retail instead of higher paying job? I know people with goddamn Master's degrees making minimum wage because that's the only job they can find.
And even besides that, if they could simply choose a higher paying job, what are you gonna do when there's no one left in the store to check out your copy of "I Am Very Smart" magazine?
Oh fuck it’s been that easy the whole time???? I’m choosing to be the CEO of Amazon sorry Jeff get the fuck out of my new office
Fuck capitalism
Can I take a second to address something? “At least they get to choose the job instead of being forced to work in a factory under threat of death” What the hell does that mean? No, really, what does that even mean? Are you suggesting that jobs are inherently better if you chose to work them? That, by virtue of having made the choice to work it yourself, it is automatically less arduous or draining? AAAHAHAHAHAHA You precious little lamb. Never change. Discounting the few exceptions of people who genuinely enjoy their job for the task that it is, jobs SUCK. They suck if you chose them, and they suck if they choose you. Depending upon the perspective you decide to have, one could even argue that people having their jobs chosen for them will give them someone to despise and blame any misfortunes on. If you actively “pick” a job and then find out said job actually blows baby chunks, that’s pretty much on you for picking it. But enough about hypotheticals. How about an objectively “glass half full” take on the concept of having a job chosen for you. At the very least, you’ll never have to worry about where your next mortgage payment will come from. Your next car payment, your next utility bill, your next trunk-full of groceries. You’re GUARANTEED a job; a PAYING job. Ideally with at least a bare minimum of safety and considerations for the human element. The government isn’t going to force you to do a job that’s likely going to kill you anyway. They’d quickly lose all of their citizens! And that’s if NO ONE incites a full-blown revolution/coup through it all. This is all, of course, a bit fantastical in comparison to reality, but it shouldn’t be far off from the truth either. It is BAFFLING how intelligent most people consider themselves to be while simultaneously putting zero thought into the hypotheticals of the policies they oppose. I’m a fucking idiot and I managed to produce a sound argument for something I’m not even invested in. “I don’t want to do something if it’s something the government tells me to do!” You obey the fucking laws, don’t you? There you go, actually! Imagine that! A law which mandates that everyone of legal age must be given a job! There’d be no homelessness, no shortage of staffing so your prissy little pussy-ass doesn’t have to wait so long in line at the Wal-Mart, everyone would be a productive member of society, drugs might not be so much of a problem, maybe the poverty line would even diminish some! Wouldn’t that be the fucking tits? But no, the moment your norm gets challenged, you immediately scream and piss AALLL over it. You want to know why? Because, for a lot of people, we all want our kids to have it better than we did, but ONLY if they suffer like you suffered too! Fuck you, you backwards-ass hypocritical waste of perfectly good oxygen. I don’t NEED to walk over the damn coals just because you justified your suffering by making it out to be some kind of rite of passage. “But that’s not FAAIIIIR! I had to do it like that!!” Well, I’m sorry that you’re such a fuck-wit that you didn’t stop to question the WHY. And, granted, maybe there just wasn’t a better way at the time. But there is now, and I will feel exactly zero shame in taking advantage of opportunities that are possible now and weren’t back in your day. It’s called moving forward. This is what “wanting more for my kid” looks like; genuinely! If you got a problem with that, then you’re just parroting the same bullshit cop-out your parents threw out like table scraps to escape any sense of shame for not having done what they could to actually make good on that promise. Screaming into a mostly empty box here, but fuck me is this irritating...
