Praise be to God! 🙌⁣ I can't believe Psalm 23 is finally done, Wohoo! 🎉 ⁣ ⁣ It seems like only yesterday when I told God that I wanted to make an artwork for Psalm 23 other than it's a well known chapter in the Book of Psalms but also because it talks about the blessings and promises we can experience in life if we let Jesus Christ be our shepherd.⁣ ⁣ In this last verse, God's promise to us his children is that his goodness and mercy shall relentlessly chase and pursue us in our journey through life. ⁣ ⁣ Try to think about it, if God's goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives here on earth, how much more in the life to come?🤯 ⁣ ⁣ And lastly, the Psalm ends with a wonderful promise and that is we may constantly enjoy and worship the LORD as we dwell in his presence forever.⁣ ⁣ Who is the Good Shepherd? 🤲🕊️⁣ Hello, Everyone! How are you all doing?😁⁣ ⁣ I'm happy to share with you God's word today, as we continue on studying Psalm 23:5b.⁣ ⁣ Sheep were anointed by shepherds to them keep out from deadly bugs. This verse tells us that God protects us from the things that would harm us.⁣ ⁣ The allegory is also a reminder of the anointing oil poured over the head of the Psalmist which is David by Samuel (1 Sam 16:13) to 𝐬𝐞𝐭 him 𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 for the work he had called him to, as king of God’s people.⁣ ⁣ Not only does God provide what we need. He always gives us more. 🌻⁣ Hi, Everyone! I just want to share this message to you all because I've found this so enlightening. 😊 ⁣ ⁣ Today, as we study Psalm 23:5a there are three key words we need to take note of and these are:⁣ •Prepare⁣ •Table⁣ •Enemies⁣ ⁣ First, the Hebrew word for 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 means to “𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦" or to “𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘪𝘯”. God is ordaining something special for you. He is setting things in an orderly way, he is arranging things and he is laying things out. This implies that God’s kind of preparation is very intentional and that He is actively setting things up for you. ⁣ ⁣ Second, the Hebrew word for 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 implies a "𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘭" or a "𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵". It means provision or sustenance. God gives us provision in lavish form, right in the midst of our troubles. He actually provides for us as we are under attack by distresses and evil. ⁣ ⁣ Lastly, the Hebrew word for 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬 means “𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘳𝘺" or "𝘧𝘰𝘦". God blesses us even in front of those that hate and despise us. ⁣ ⁣ We know that the psalmist of Psalm 23 is none other than David. This verse gives us a glimpse of how David's foes mocked him and his trust in God. David was powerless to overcome them and for years, he had been crying out, “𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨, 𝘖 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥? 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳? . . . 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦?” (Ps. 13:1–2). But the Lord vindicated David and shown to be the one whom the Lord loves and delights to honor, while his enemies are powerless and put to shame. 🐑⁣ The second part of Psalm 23:4b tells us about the essential tools in shepherding. These are the rod and the staff.⁣ ⁣ The "rod" refers to a scepter that shows power and authority. It is also used for defense, as well as to discipline the sheep.⁣ ⁣ On the other hand, the "staff" is used for protection and for drawing the sheep closer to the shepherd. God's staff is also there for us to lean on, to rest and to find peace.⁣ ⁣ Jesus being our shepherd uses his rod to remind us of his authority over all dominions and powers. It protects us from "wolves" and any other harmful thing that may want to attack and devour us. ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes, God's protection also includes His discipline where God needs to break our leg (discipline) in order for us to stay close to Him.⁣ ⁣ In Hebrews 12:11, we are reminded that when God disciplines us, it is not joyful. It is challenging and painful. ⛰️⁣ In life we go through ⁣ mountaintops and sometimes we also go through valleys.⁣ ⁣ There are things in life we cannot avoid - the valleys of pain, suffering, hardships, trials and testing. While these are "given", we can still hold on to the comfort that He is with us, guiding us and protecting us.⁣ ⁣ Sure, mountaintop experiences with God are one of the best things we want to always have however, there comes a time when we too must descend.⁣ ⁣ 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐬.⁣ ⁣ Notice also the use of the "shadow of death" - a figurative expression of the things we fear and one of it is death.⁣ ⁣ Death is the great unmentionable reality that reminds us that our life here on earth is only temporary and somehow it just scares us.⁣ ⁣ But for those whose shepherd is Jesus, this verse reassures us that with Him on our side there is nothing to fear for death is but a shadow, and it does not have the power to harm the Lord's sheep. ⁣ ⁣ No evil shall be allowed to befall you for the Lord is always with you and He watches over you. 🕊️⁣ 💡 Did you know? ⁣ A sheep doesn't go near a running water because it fears that he'll drown because of its fur. 🧐🤔😯⁣ ⁣ Thankfully, Jesus is our Good Shepherd who knows where the 'still waters' are and He leads us to it to give us the peace we need. 🙌⁣ ⁣ However, God's peace is different from the world's peace. The world's peace can only bring temporary comfort while God's peace is perfect and permanent. ⁣ Last time I shared about the verse Psalm 23:1 that tells us about the Lord being our shepherd who provides everything we need and in him we will not lack any good thing.⁣ ⁣ In Psalm 23:2a it explains how our Good Shepherd provides means for us to be satisfied. The words "He makes me..." is a causative verb which means to say that He 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 me to lie down. This is because sheep will not lie down if it is hungry, scared and unsatisfied. To be able to rest completely like that means all their needs are met. Hence, Jesus 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 me to lie down and be content.⁣ ⁣ Green Pastures on the other hand, represents God's best for you and me. It is the Shepherd's job to make sure that the sheep have green pastures. ⁣ ⁣ "Sometimes we think that the other grass is greener across the fence, thinking they have it better."⁣ - Ptr.
