I have kind of a niche political view on tumblr, which is that I think misogyny is bad even when it’s just hurting women
and I don’t even think it needs to have a singular benefit for men for feminism and the abolition of patriarchy to be worthwhile
in fact the abolition of patriarchy could be a net loss for men and I would still think that feminism and the abolition of patriarchy was worth it
A pdf of the original BLAST manifesto is available for free online, as if you care.
[gritting my teeth] the way other people interpret my favorite characters does not affect me
how it all feels lately
A very summery Doggust so far. 🍃
often you will see things online where you just have to be like "what a strange thing to say" or "i don't think that's true :)" to yourself and try to move on or you will lose your mind
idk how to put this really but there's this way we're told from the outset that combeferre is enjolras' right hand man essentially, and that he balances him out and. well I mean I guess you can't phrase it better than "combeferre complimented and rectified enjolras". but at any rate from what we're told they seem to work together closely and have a lot of impact on each other and understand each other a great deal. this is all said -- but like you don't really actually see much of this I feel until the barricade, at which point we get this whole series of little moments between them where I feel like it becomes so immediately clear on an extremely human level just how well they know each other and are used to being around each other & it's always so striking to me how without really changing anything this transforms their dynamic from theoretical to a very practical and intimate one. and it's agonizing because it's like we're just getting a glimpse of this only right when they're about to die -- it's been there the whole time for them but we as the readers are only just seeing it & feeling it. idk idk it really makes this whole section feel so impactful to me
Marius being stupid and sad I guess
it seems like not only do a lot of people no longer believe there's anything to be gained from persevering at something difficult, but also that almost any difficult activity is inherently unpleasant
that's completely fucked up, it's actually in direct violation of the human spirit. we were built to struggle. i say this as an adhd-haver, yes often things i don't care about are boring to me, which is unpleasant, but difficult and boring aren't the same thing. plenty of things i'm interested in doing are extremely difficult but not boring, just hard. this is unpleasant to deal with initially, but i know pleasure is on the other side of the difficulty. it's also on the other side of failure, from which i learn, and through this learning the difficulty diminishes
and nothing else gives me the same level of pleasure. easy pleasure is great, but it's not sustaining and is actually boring in and of itself. it's level 1 every time, like a rat hitting a lever. progressing steadily over time is a much more intense kind of pleasure that makes you like yourself more and makes your life feel more meaningful. you can't get that from easy pleasure because there's no sense of progression. there's nothing to turn and look back on with satisfaction or pride. the human spirit is iterative
sorry i dont find #joy in #homemaking or the #hearth or any shit like that i find joy in being paid and spending 126$ at a restaurant and thee liquor store
