so @bubbiegummie posted a translated version of some pages from a bttf light novel?? which is a thing that exists?? and i literally have not stopped thinking about it since i saw it and recently it occurred to me that i had free will and i could draw my own furry au versions of the characters into the introductory page. so here we are 13 hours of work later

if you go back and look at the original i've changed and moved some stuff around to fit my EVIL purposes, including the rewritten versions of marty's parents and excluding biff (i Dojt Like Him)

hello this is a reply to @actuallymartymcfly ‘s post about the japanese light novels! i sat down and translated everything and "localized" (i wanted to keep the og japanese phrasing/wording prevalent) it the best i could!

part 1 doesn’t really have anything new it’s a very basic synopsis though i will say idk why lorraine had to catch a stray like that

part 2 however what i think is cool is that marty’s the one explaining the story for a bit! its only the last part where it goes back to third person. the rest is written with masculine personal pronouns; the same ones marty uses in jp dubs! i thought that was cute

i also think it’s sweet they redefine george by his accomplishments of his dreams

there are light novels for the first two Back to the Future movies

i know little about these because i don't own them and i don't speak Japanese, but if i did own them i'd be able to pick up on some of the things laid down in the illustrated parts. the art's really good though, drawn by Iwamoto05. the writer is Ichirou Otsumiya. what I do know is they serve the same purpose as the George Gipe and Craig Shaw Gardener adaptations, made for grade school kids. surprisingly, there is very few cuts/changes! most of the changes are to remove brand and celebrity names. the Lorraine falling in love with Marty plotline is kept, which is extremely rare for newer aimed-at-children adaptations (typically made for very very young kids) of the first film.

Marty Mcfly is the best protagonist because he’s simultaneously so awkward and so cool. He says insane ominous things to strangers. He has the goofiest run I’ve ever seen. He plays loud music no one gets. All the women are in love with him. All the men are impressed with him or threatened by him. The children look at him like he’s the coolest person in the world.
