Great Balls of Fucking Fire!
(Title because everyone titles their shit âhumans are weirdâ and telling these posts apart is a pain in the ass!) So, saw a post about aliens not being all that great with human swearing. (Wish Iâd saved the damn post!) And my first thought was âAh, yes, good! Go with that! That is awesome!â They pointed out that aliens wouldnât understand swearing such as âFuck!â or âAsshole!â. I thought âMotherfuckerâ would be another great one to add to the list. But what about the more umâŠinventive swears? For example (these are all ones that I use or have heard used):
Human: âJesus Christ on a crutch!â
Alien: âWhere? And how was your deity hurt? For that matter, how did your deity board the ship?â
Human: âWell fuck me sideways!â
Alien: âI do not think that is anatomically possible for either of usâŠâ
Human: âIâve met some pricks in my time, but you fine sir are the fucking cactus!â
Alien: âFuckingâŠcactus? Why would you wish to engage in coitus with a dessert plant? Wouldnât it hurt?!â
Human: âSon of a biscuit eating bull dog!â
Alien: ?????
(Damnit, now Iâm on a roll.) But consider some of these other things. What about human name calling? Like, the original post touched on that a bit with the âassholeâ comment. But again, what about the more inventive name calling? Children call each other âmeanieâ, âpoopoo headâ, and âmeanie headâ. Those would be confusing enough. Now picture an alien having to deal with adult name calling. Some of my friends have been known to use the following:
Twat waffle
Cunt biscuit
Shitlet
Douchebag
Ass goblin
Fuckwit
Ass clown
Captain Obvious (and their partner, Sergeant Sarcasm)
Butt Munch
Fucktard
Dick face
Shit nibbler (or nibblet)
Cheeky dickwaffle
Pecker head
Dingleberry
Can you picture an alien reacting to THOSE? And what about colloquialisms? What about those stupid sayings that donât entirely make sense, but we use them anyway? Like, check out some of these beauties, and just imagine the alienâs glorious confusion over some of these:
Human: âI am dragging so much ass that I am wiping out the tracks behind me!â
Alien:Â âHuman you canât leave tracks on a spaceship, nor is you posterior currently touching the ground.â
Human: (doesnât trust some space pirate) âYou can shake his hand, but youâll have to count your fingers afterward.â
Alien: Promptly hides humanâs hands, he didnât know that that space pirate was a finger stealer! Or that finger stealers were a thing! Are their own tentacles close enough to count? Should they be worried? Donât worry, I will protect your fingers my human!
Human:Â âWe better dock soon, because Iâve got to pee like a motherfucker/ racehorse/ mother racehorse (that last is my families fusion of the two. Dont ask).
Alien: ???? (doesnât compute) ?????
Human: âIâm so hungry I could eat a (insert large animal or item of choice. Such as âSpaceshipâ)!â
Alien: Races off to warn captain that they need to up the humanâs food intake before it eats the ship right out from under them!!!!
Human: âHeâs slicker than owl shit!âÂ
Alien: ?????
Human:Â âIâm busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest!â
Alien: Gets migraine trying to picture how a human with one leg could kick anything, much less as a competitor.
Human:Â âStop running around like a chicken with your head cut off! Your hair is not on fire!â
Alien: Freezes mid-step to stare at human. âW-what?â
Just picture all of these guys!
The post they are talking about is me!!!
https://massachusetts-redhead.tumblr.com/post/158678057964/humans-are-weird-swearing - that is the origonal post
That thing about how cats think humans are big kittens is a myth, yâknow.
Itâs basically born of false assumptions; folks were trying to explain how a naturally solitary animal could form such complex social bonds with humans, and the explanation they settled on is âitâs a displaced parent/child bondâ.
The trouble is, cats arenât naturally solitary. We just assumed they were based on observations of European wildcats - but housecats arenât descended from European wildcats. Theyâre descended from African wildcats, which are known to hunt in bonded pairs and family groupings, and that social tendency is even stronger in their domesticated relatives. The natural social unit of the housecat is a colony: a loose affiliation of cats centred around a shared territory held by alliance of dominant females, who raise all of the colonyâs kittens communally.
Itâs often remarked that dogs understand that humans are different, while cats just think humans are big, clumsy cats, and thatâs totally true - but they regard us as adult colonymates, not as kittens, and all of their social behaviour toward us makes a lot more sense through that lens.
The like to cuddle because communal grooming is how cats bond with colonymates - it establishes a shared scent-identity for the colony and helps clean spots that they canât easily reach on their own.
They bring us dead animals because cats transport surplus kills back to the colonyâs shared territory for consumption by pregnant, nursing, or sick colonymates who canât easily hunt on their own. Indeed, thatâs why they kill so much more than they individually need - itâs not for fun, but to generate enough surplus kills to sustain the colonyâs non-hunting members.
Theyâre okay with us messing with their kittens because communal parenting is the norm in a colony setting, and us being colonymates in their minds automatically makes us co-parents.
Itâs even why many cats are so much more tolerant toward very small children, as long as those children are related to one of their regular humans: they can tell the difference between human adults and human âkittensâ, and your kittens are their kittens.
Basically, youâre going to have a much easier time getting a handle on why your cat does why your cat does if you remember that the natural mode of social organisation for cats is not as isolated solitary hunters, but as a big communal catpile - and for that purpose, you count as a cat.
Having bad days doesnât mean your whole life is bad. There are still good days and all the days in between!
Just remember that your current situation is not your final destination! đ

Humans Are Weird: Swearing
To add to the humans are weird/space orcs thread, how about certain weird linguistic stuff, like the way we swear...?
Human: âFuckâ Alien: âI am not particularly inclined to follow that command.â
Human: âWhat an assholeâ Alien: âI am sensing that emulating a hole in ones ass is not a good thing.â
A group of rough looking boys walked past me today and all I heard of their conversation was âheâs got that anxiety disorder bro so I went with him so heâd be more comfortableâ and it made me realise the world isnât all that bad
#this is team skull
The pet store I worked at had a pen with rabbits near the front door. On every side of the pen were huge signs saying âYou can pet me, but donât pick me up!â One day two absolutely huge guys came in and one immediately reaches into the pen to grab a rabbit. Before i could say anything his friend grabbed his arm and asked him âdid you see the sign?â He said âyeah! it says that you can pick them up but donât pet them!â Then he went quiet for a moment and softly said âI didnât read it right did I?â And his friend just puts his arm on his shoulder and said âits ok, i know youâve got that thing where words get mixed up. Let just pet these cute lil shitsâ And I still havenât gotten over that interaction.
I was walking my dog through Boston bc he likes the likes car rides. Heâs a little thing tbh we call him short and long. So this huge scary man with a full beard approaches me like âhey can my buddy and I pet your dog? He gets nervous around dogs but yourâs is so small I think itâs a good place to start.â Ofc I was like âyes heâs very friendly!â So this guy brings his equally big friend over and they sit on the floor while this man looks terrified of my tiny dog so big man number one asks âcan I pick him up?â And i say yes so he picks him up and puts him on man number twoâs lap and man number two is abt to freak out and his friend straight up just goes âhey man, itâs okay just relax Iâd never let anything hurt you. Heâs a good boy.â Iâll never forget it ever bc I know that man looked at me (5'3 , glasses, probably wearing a sweater vest) and my dog (kinda goofy looking little thing) and was like âah yes the two least intimidating living things Iâve seen in Boston all day heâll feel relaxed around themâ and went out of his way to help his friend. It makes me so happy
A good post, pure.
A biker in his 30s once walked into the bookstore I worked at. He had piercings, tattoos, and bruises, everywhere, was ripped and stout, and looked like he could take down anyone, anywhere. He put his worn helmet on the counter, looked at me, and said, âDo yâall carry Percy Jackson?â I replied, âOf course! I love those books. Percy is my favorite.â His face lit up like a Christmas tree, and he replied, âOh, noâitâs Annabeth or BUST.â And for the next few minutes we talked about Greek myths, and I swear we both made each otherâs day.Â
I moved from sydney city to the bush when I was 5 and my brother was 1. My mum bought a big property, put a caravan on it and planned to build. When we moved there was nothing on the property and we were going through one of Australiaâs worst droughts. I remember one of the first days we were there mum realised caravans donât have running water and we had to buy water, this was tough considering we were likely not going to have a proper house for four years. Mum was also a single mum with an acting job she left in Sydney so paying for water put another weight on us. Anyway, on a super hot day, we ran out of water and it was scary, mum was using the last of it to make some lunch when we hear a huge four wheel drive come through the bush. Itâs not unusual to hear cars because we were right next to the dirt road, but it was unusual to hear them come off the road through the bush considering we had a driveway. Mum panicked and assumed she may have to defend herself and her kids as she is a woman alone in the bush - weâve all heard the stories. The car pulls up and three huge men with beards an 1 tooth between the lot of them look down at us huddled behind mum.
âItâs a hot one todayâ
âit is..â
âyou just bought the property?â
âYeah..â
Then they leave. Mum is in a mild panic for the rest of the afternoon, she is worried they have plans to come back later and do who knows what, she calls friends from Sydney, she collects all the knives, she freaks out, understandably. Later on we hear the four wheel drive come back the other way through the bush and this time mum puts us inside and says lock the door. The car stops and in the back of the ute are litres and litres of water, in huge tanks from the shops.
The men get out and unload all the water, set it up at the sink, pour a glass for my brother and I and ask mum of thereâs anything else we need. They proceed to have cups of tea and welcome mum to the area. These old toothless men havent all lasted the test of time but we still see one of them all the time, and they have helped out countless families in the area.
Humans Are Space Orcs: Braces
I have been reading a lot of these so here it is,
Just imagine an alien when they find out about braces.
âDo you mean to tell me that you strap metal to your young and slowly move their bones, without pain killers, over long periods of time? The bones that they use to eat? Then make them wear more metal in their mouths for the rest of their life, all for a standard of beauty?â
Nah dude, some do it for medical reasons. I knew someone who had three teeth stuck in the roof of their mouth so they put braces on them and fixed that right upâ
âI donât think I understandâ
âThey had to do it, because they had already pulled out their baby teeth so they would have had gaps or out of order teeth. Or get infected.
âBut how did braces on the outside of their teeth affect the teeth that were *stuck*â
They first had to cut through the bone to get to them and then they stuck brackets on them. But after that, they just dragged the teeth into place.â
âThrough the bone?â
"Yupâ
"And it worked?â
"Yupâ
*horrified aliens* âI thought you said you care about your youngâ
"We doâ
*even more Horrified aliens*
*off to the side* âdidnât the human say they cared about usâ
