Hey, citoyens !

Yesterday, I've been to a flea market and found an old French edition from 1943 of The Scarlet Pimpernel!

It's a bit damaged, but let's try to fix it together!

For the anecdote, I was looking at some books on a stand, I thought "It would be funny to find a Scarlet Pimpernel book here..." and then I looked to my left and it was there! I couldn't NOT buy it! On top of that, the price was less than one euro! ✨️

Since the book and the dust jacket are old, they are evidently damaged. But nothing that can't be fixed! Books are too precious to be thrown away at the first sign of damage.

Then, I put some tape on the back of the dust jacket, where there were some rips. By the way, if you have some tips to erase the marks, I'm all ears!

After that, I wrapped the book (without the dust jacket) in a towel to avoid any more damage and placed it under a few other BIG AND HUGE books to press it and reduce the crinkling (due to humidity) of the pages and the cover thanks to the pressure.

Concerning the dust jacket, I simply unfolded it and tucked it between two other books.

I'll let them like that for two days, or more, and see if it works or not.

Weird particularly! Maybe proper to the Collection Nelson's books, the top edge is coloured in green however the fore edge and the bottom edge are not.

Despite The Scarlet Pimpernel's anti-revolutionary messages, I genuinely enjoy the universe and its storytelling. That's my guilty pleasure... Don't tell to the Commitee of Public Safety, please 🙏
