In the Kraków suburb one sees a splendid four-sided column erected in honor of Sigismundi III., on its 1st side this inscription is readable.
Sigismundus III. by free votes of Poland; by inheritance, succession, right King of Sweden, first among kings in pursuit of peace and in glory, second to none in war and peace, the Moscowitian Dukes, capital and provinces were captured, and the armies beaten, Smolensk recaptured, the Turkish power broken at Khotyn, having reigned for 44 years, 44th in the royal series, he equaled or increased the glory of all.
auf der 2ten Seiten:
Sic Cœlo, sic terris Sigism. III. pietate insignis & armis, geminæ gloriæ merito sese approbavit, hinc gladium, inde crucem tam pia quam forti manu tenet: illo pugnavit, in hoc regno vicit: sub hoc insigni vixit securus, invictus, felix, nunc felicitate, quam terris dedit, gloriosus, quam Cœlis meruit, beatus.
As in Heaven so on Earth Sigismundus III., distinguished by piety and arms, has approved himself with due merit of double glory, here the sword, there the cross he holds with such a pious as strong hand: there he fought, in this reign he won: under this sign he lived safely, happily, lucky, now blessed with the happinessm he gave to Earth, glorious as to be worthy of Heaven.

auf der 4ten Seiten:
Non statua erigitur, non cæso gloria monte
Fulta Sigismundi: mons erat ipse sibi;
A statue is not erected, not Sigismund's glory supported on the hewn mountain: He was a mountain himself; not radiance from gold and not strength he takes from ore, more radiant than gold, stronger than ore he was.
That this statue is a piece of the special love that this Lord had for the Jesuits, everyone will be able to conclude from the history of the same time.
