does anyone have a quick start guide / any guide for setting up sims 2 legacy? long day under the cut

my pc died!!!! the expensive super cool pc i bought last month died and ive been crying all day because not only that, a cat we cared for had to be put to sleep this morning. really horrible day

my pc will probably be sent back to the manufacturer or to a local shop. i am pretty confident it is something to do with CMOS on the motherboard after troubleshooting but still, it has been really hard for me since I was on a roll with my current save YETTTT AGAINNN and lost my save and cc. I really need to start backing up to an external drive rather than the same boot drive omg

so i decided while crying to WASTEEEE MY DAMN MONEYYYYY on the legacy bundles for ts1 and 2 because i cba with doing all the stuff for my ui again aka patching and im back on the pc i had before upgrading. idk if my cpu could handle the ui patcher on this one so im just using legacy for the big ui. also could not be bothered to pirate legacy because my brain is just too overloaded with today

anyways yeah i really wanna know how to setup legacy, does it need 4gb patch? does it need graphics rules edited etc. tyia

Legacy comes 4gb patched already and no graphics rules edits needed. These are guides to restoring the missing content and setting up Bodyshop and Scriptorium if you want, but the game works out of the box on most setups. If you're on Linux you may need to switch the runner, GE-Proton9-27 usually works

Why is it that every time I google something like "Are olives poisonous to cats" the top results are always like "Fun fact: Cats are carnivores! This means that they eat meat. There is no reason to include olives in a cat's diet. You should feed your cat cat food, which is dry or wet food especially designed for cats. I've been using the pet poison hotline's poison list cause it has a search function. It also tells you whether something is mildly, moderately, or severely toxic which can be very handy! It doesn't contain like everything but it might be a good place to start, it also includes plants for fellow houseplant lovers <3

It's really not a play on Maxis' Seaspray Apartments, I just need some apartments for my BV makeover and these just happen to be placed on the seashore xD I really like these, they're perfect for my sims just starting a family. You don't need to guess which apartment is my favorite obv, but the rest has more appropriate decor for younger sims.

Also❗️, just to say it in advance, I don't really decorate bedrooms, imo these are the most personal spaces, so no matter the style of the apartment I'd still be able to flex various sims on any of these. I think even irl rental listing bedrooms tend to be bare.

Anyway, here's my recommended mods 🐝

I saw this when running newpipe. But wait, it gets deeper. I clicked on the details buttons and it said as of today, we have 83 days left until Google rolls out this new requirement for apps inside and outside of the google play store. If any developer disagrees with their new terms and fees, they will be blocked!

I'll share some of the info below:

Looks like they're trying to nuke the remaining privacy and freedoms we have left on the internet.

What to do?

-Get your developer friends to not comply to their new guides

- Sign the open letter on the site and take action by checking out the full resources list on their website as well!

To summarize, this is all daunting especially when you feel all alone with unfair and inhumane regulations comming out faster than improvements but we got this working together!

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.

At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.

Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”

these cats are displaying remarkable theory of mind skills by not only registering that the humans can perceive them but actively trying to manipulate that perception! that requires one to be aware that other individuals have complicated interior thoughts of their own, to know that those thoughts are not always based on truth, and to quickly decide on the best possible “lie” for the situation. this is why I despise animal intelligence tasks based on obedience— some of the most clever moments stem from intelligent disobedience.

hey, if it’s ok could you tell us more about your specialist rehab chair? I’ve not heard of that before.

A specialist rehab chair is an indoor chair designed for comfort for people who can’t use a standard recliner usually due to having complex postural needs when seated. Like custom power chairs, they’re very individual to the user, and the features vary based on the postural needs of the person using them.

IDs: four photos of different specialist rehab chairs. They are all medical looking armchairs on small wheels that resemble those on a hospital bed or shopping trolley. The first chair is side on and shows a tilt-in-space feature. The second chair has a highly adjustable vertebrae-like backrest which can accommodate an asymmetric posture, the third has a waterfall style back for comfort and pressure relief, the fourth has a horseshoe shaped cushion to support the head and shoulders as well as lateral supports. / end IDs

They’re usually on wheels and can be pushed by a carer to facilitate transfers or moving between rooms indoors. But they are difficult to push even indoors and can’t be used as a wheelchair for mobility.

The one I have has powered tilt-in-space and my carers can manually adjust the angle of the backrest. It is fitted with a specialist pillow to support my head, neck and shoulders, a chest harness, lateral trunk support, and a padded tray for postural support and to allow me to do activities and have meals. It’s also adjusted so that the armrests also keep my legs in alignment. It provides a high level of pressure relief for both the backrest and cushion.

For me it’s much more comfortable than my powerchair, and allows me to do more than I can do while propped up in bed.
