Can you imagine being Finrod mf'ing Felagund and you're all heading out on an exilic journey and then all of a sudden your dad decides to stay home. But your sister and cousins and friends and a ton of your people are going. And you have like... maybe a day? At most? And probably much less? To say goodbye to your father like that? And you maybe don't know if he understands that this is truly goodbye, because you know your sister and your sister is NOT about to get discouraged and turn around. Like Artanis is crossing the Helcaraxë or building her own ships or challenging Ulmo to a duel, and that means you're not going home either.
Can you imagine being Fingon the Valiant. You've finally been reunited with your childhood bestie after MANY years of your dads' nonsense, semi-accidentally kinslayed because you came upon a battle and you have probably been READY for a fight since, oh I don't know maybe since your grandfather was the first person ever to be murdered? And that was before the Trees were killed and the whole world cast into darkness, before your uncle and cousins swore a terrifying oath, but after your proud father swore his heart to said uncle. You're not sure if the Powers that control your world are malicious or benevolent and the answer seems like maybe neither? Or both?
Anyway. I want these morons to have everything but I especially want them to have each other.

Fingon swans into the library and sits on the arm of the chair Maedhros prefers. “Mae wanted to play Not So,” he says.
“That,” Elrond pronounces, setting down his book, “is a bad idea.”
“What’s a bad idea?” Tyelkormo asks from the doorway, “And why are we doing it anyway?”
“Playing Not So,” Annatar says, in hopes that someone might explain. “The second question, I cannot answer.”
“Because we’re Feanorians, I suppose,” Celebrimbor says.
“Do not play this game,” Elrond says, something between amused and ominous.
“Elrond doesn’t want to play Not So!” Ambarussa says, yelling over his shoulder into the hallway.
“Elrond doesn’t have to play,” Maedhros’s voice echoes from further down the hall. “I don’t know why he wouldn’t want to play, though. He’d probably win, since Mags isn’t here.”
“I am, however unfortunately for the lot of us, in a position to care very much about the health and wellbeing of this household,” Elrond says. “You are not well-balanced people, and you are going to upset each other.”
