The boy is experimenting with sticks, very politely. Before he hits each new thing he’ll look at me and go “this?” to check if it’s a good thing to hit.
Babysitting a toddler is a lot like being the narration in a point-and-click adventure game. Watching him knock on the doors of empty rooms and saying "hmm. I don't think anyone's in there". Watching him attempt to use [spoon] on [cat] and saying "I don't think those things go together". Watching him throw a cup of water onto the floor and just commenting "the floor is wet now" when he looks up at me to see if I approve.
The Boy learned a very important lesson today:
Sand tastes bad.
“He gets way down on that knob, too”
-Sports commentary, USA vs Brazil, world baseball classic, 2026
When it’s just me on parenting duty, I free-feed this boy like I would with a cat
I’m so tired I think I’m pregnant
While investigating my mother’s jewelry box this holiday season, I discovered that she has held on to her wisdom teeth and also my baby teeth. If I am diligent about collecting The Boy’s teeth, I can start a multi-generational teeth collection! It’ll be a family heirloom.
I think I like Hadestown so much because it reminds me of The Aristocats
The Boy is very good at peeling clementines. In fact he likes to peel them more than he likes to eat them. Husband and I ate lots of orange slices today.
To trip and fall over is such a unique experience with its own special kind of adrenaline, but no one ever gets to savour it really because it only lasts a second and you can't know in advance when it's coming
Humanity has been trying to capture the feeling in ever more elaborate ways but nothing stands up to the original
We play a game with our boy called “is it an animal” where we ask him questions like “is a helicopter and animal?” and he tells us confidently “a helicopter is an animal!” And then cries when we tell him “no that’s wrong” until we give in and agree.
A helicopter is an animal.
It’s so sad when The Boy learns how to pronounce a new word correctly. He learned how to say Banana today🥺
maybe your baby is crying bc it wants a cigarette
I can’t believe people put their baby girl’s hair in tight little ponytails even though its just wisps lmao just keep their hair short until theyre older
stop doing this
Noooo I love onion creature! The Boy looks so cute as a little onion boy! We leave his hair long on purpose.
