what Lockwood & Co characters would wear to this year's Met Gala
In honor of last week's podcast episode and this year's great Met Gala theme, here's my picks on what I think our favs would wear!
I think our skirt-loving girl would opt for a gown, but I love the idea of something suit inspired like Suki Waterhouse's dress. A bit of a nod to Lockwood's love of the suit and on theme!
I'm also quite fond of the way the sharp angles of Sadie Sink's gown contrast with the (rather ghostly looking!) lace - a nice juxtaposition of sharp and soft, just like Lucy.
If Lucy did want to switch it up from a gown, I love this all white suit and hat look from Zendaya - still feminine but clean lines and no frills.
For the very feminine Holly, my first thought was something princess-y, like Gigi Hadid's gold, 1940's-inspired gown.
But then! I saw Simone Biles's short blue gown, and I couldn't stop thinking that it was a bit of a fun twist on Holly's signature pinafore dress. (Also, I think Simone Biles has a little Holly energy - but that's a conversation for another time.)
Finally, something in this La La Anthony look really called to me. I love the mish mash of clean lines with dramatic tulle! What a look, and one I think Holly could definitely pull off.
While none of the trousers are quite tight enough for Lockwood's taste, there are more than enough suits at the Met Gala to satisfy him. In particular, Tramell Tillman's look with the long dramatic tails is fantastic homage to Lockwood's signature coat! The black calla lillies really takes it to the next level.
While a bit too simple for our fashionista, I love the subtle textures of Jon Baptiste's look! (Imagine it with a rapier instead of a saxophone.)
However, I tend to think our costume and disguise loving boy would not be able to resist the drama of an outfit change. And I am obsessed with Damson Idris's on carpet transition from racing costume to this intense, blood red suit.
While I don't think everything about this Coleman Domingo look is a perfect fit for Lockwood, I love the idea of him showing up in a sweeping cape and then taking it off to display a monochromatic suit!
Jeremy O. Harris's tight trousers, waistcoat and tails, and dramatic tie all feel quintessentially Kipps to me.
If there's a man who can pull of an ascot, it's Quill F. Kipps, which why Louis Partridge's a three piece suit with an ascot is another solid option. It also feels like a subtle nod to Kipps's signature turtleneck.
We also know that Kipps can't resist some jewels, so Pusha T's sparkly suit could be very appealing.
Let's be real, Flo and George would not attend the Met Gala under any circumstances, but if they did, this is my favorite look for her! A badass bejeweled suit and shirt and tie combo, as worn here by Joey King. No notes.
Bad Bunny is rocking a very George coded color palette (and the bag would give George a place to store his books!), and Andrew Scott's suit also has a strong George vibe, if he wanted to keep things simple. But ultimately, if Kenny Leon's plaid flannel suit and sneakers combo doesn't scream George, I don't know what does.
I don't have any justification for this choice, but this Babyface suit just calls to me.
