So i was recently rewatching Cinderella, and came across this. So apparently BE GAY is what the fairy godmother tells Cinderella to be. This was hilarious, didn’t know Disney was so progressive. This was the funniest shit and it made me so happy.
I love that man
Todd Phillips is pure trash.
He’s not the only one like, not even remotely fucking around.
“I WORKED TO FIND WAYS OF MAKING PEOPLE LAUGH WITHOUT MAKING OTHER PEOPLE CRY”
Best lesson from a Disney movie
This is an underrated movie
This is a grossly underrated movie.
Can I take a minute to rant? Good. Cuz I’m gonna.
I FLOVE this movie. And I HATE all the stupid hatred it gets. For a long time the buzz was “finally a black princess yay!” and now everyone is like “Fuck this movie, first black princess and she spends the whole movie a frog.”
You know what? Fuck that. Because Ariel spent a good majority of the movie not talking. Mulan spent the majority of the move pretending to be a man. Aurora and Snow White? Asleep (Hardly in the movie at all). They’re all just plot devices, not designed to take away from the traits of the women.
And you know what else? Unlike some of the other princesses, Tiana is in control of her destiny every step of the way. When she turns into the frog does she lose hope and need rescuing? Hell naw. She busts Naveen over the head and gets the job done. She is consistently responsible and capable even after having her dreams crushed and turning into a freaking frog.
So don’t tell me that Tiana is “less than” just because she gets turned into a frog. She’s still one of the most hardworking, badass, and capable chicks in animated history and I love her like crazy cakes.
the end.
Also? She’s based on a real person. A real woman who is 91 and is still cooking in her kitchen. She’s still widely respected in the culinary community, she’s fed presidents, she’s had songs written about her and her restaurants. She’s 91, and she still wakes up every morning to run things, because she still believes in hard work and good food. And if you don’t think that’s truly fantastic, then you can just fuck right off.
“Do you ever think about how the “girls mature faster” argument is used to 1) excuse bad behavior from boys, 2) hold girls to a higher standard, and 3) excuse grown men’s sexual interest in young girls, but never to give girls respect or positions of responsibility and influence?”

They know the difference

“We need allies…”
Daenerys is a good ally to have because she has two fire-breathing dragons. They will be useful in battling wights and wight Viserion, no one denies that.
However,
there’s a difference between alliances and aid that is dependent upon the subjugation of a people.
Lyanna, Sansa, and the rest of the North are entitled to their, for lack of a better word, resentment towards Jon. The Unsullied and Dothraki chose to follow Daenerys. The North never chose Dany. They chose Jon as their King, not Dany. And it is clear from episode one that the North will not willingly or happily bend the knee to her. It is also clear that Daenerys will use her aid as leverage against any who dissent against her rule.
“She doesn’t need to be my friend but I am her queen. If she can’t respect me…”
There is an implied threat here. Dany is saying, “If I do not receive the respect I am owed/deserve there will be consequences.” The only consequences she can deal out are death by dragonfire or death by retracting her aid. She has already stated she has no interest in hostages or sending men to the (now non-existent) Wall. Either way, Dany is threatening anyone who doesn’t unconditionally accept her rule.
Subjugate: to bring under complete control or subjection; conquer; master.
Dany wants to govern a people who do not want and did not choose her as their ruler but need her aid in order to survive; this is subjugation. It is subjugation because Dany has shown that there are only two options: bend the knee or die.
People ask: “Why doesn’t the North understand that titles don’t matter because only the Great War matters, so why can’t they just accept Dany as their new queen?”
Perhaps they should also ask:
Why is Dany, a self-proclaimed savior of the helpless, so fixated on knee-bending when the end of the world is near?
Why can’t she see the bigger picture, too, and understand that people deserve saving, from a fate worse than death, no matter whether they bend the knee or not?
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.”

she looks like art, like a breathing sculpture.
“You aren’t ‘only’ playing devil’s advocate when you regurgitate oppressive ideas that existed for centuries.”
“I made this because quite frankly I’m sick and tired of these bigots making excuses for their ignorance. The most prevalent one seems to be “I’m just playing devil’s advocate here!”
No, that’s not the only thing you are doing. You are perpetuating ideas that were and still are utilized to marginalize historically exploited and oppressed groups of people. Stop making excuses for bigotry and educate yourself!“

“but guys liam realized his wrong doings and has grown from it!”
Some of y’all need to realize that black people are not, in any way, obligated to forgive a white man for actually attempting to lynch random black men.
keep that in mind.
Shout out to all my straight sisters I’m so sorry 😞
Jesus, leave his ass.
We learn fast to be very kind and attentive, tho.
My mom, who got her degree in Marriage and Family Counseling when she was 60, says studies show that women will sometimes sometimes leave a long term relationship to live on their own for a while before seeking a new relationship, but men will almost never leave a long term relationship without having a new relationship either in progress or just beginning. They don’t want to give up the caretaker they have without another one on deck or in the wings.
This is so sad
This isnt cute or quirky. This means hes a fucking hopeless user
Please date a man who actually acts like an adult.
Ok I lived with my ex for 2 years and he literally wouldn’t be able to get his own food if I wasn’t at home, I’d get home from work and he’d be angry at me for “making him starve”
My current partner has lived on his own for 8 years and the absolute most I have to help him with is maybe sending him $20 so he can make a bill payment on time
It made me realise for 2-4 years I wasn’t a girlfriend I was a fucking mother
Men who have been independent are capable of reverting if given the slightest excuse. When we married, my ex husband was 10 years older than me and had lived on his own for 8ish years. Yet (and I allowed this until I finally got fed up and took us to counseling) I did 80% of the cooking, because I was better at it. Same with the cleaning, shopping, social planning, etc.
After I left, in the first six months I got texts or calls asking me to please tell him:
The online banking password (dude, I left you, you should really change that)
Where I ordered his special-wecial organic underwear
Where the good cutting board was (my dad gave it to us at our wedding, genius, I took it with me along with the rest of the stuff from my family)
What brand butter we bought
What brand of local kielbasa we bought
Who his doctor was
What RMV office had the shortest lines
Where the old tax returns were (in the fucking box labeled tax returns)
The phone number for his best friend
I shit you not.
Then he had a heart attack (mild) and none of his family or friends were around to take him to the hospital. But instead of calling 911, he called me, who by then lived 45 minutes away. He lived 5 minutes from an EMS dispatch location. He called me, despite the fact that he didn’t believe me 8 months prior when I was feeling suicidal and I had to call a cab to go alone to check myself into the hospital for a 72-hour hold. I told him to call 911, hung up on him when he whined about “making a fuss”, called 911, called his siblings and then texted them “your brother is having a heart attack, I called 911 for him, come home,” and washed my hands of it.
Emotionally vacant men who won’t do household labor or emotional labor are not Nazis, but they aren’t good people, either, and you don’t have to put up with their shit.
Millennial women of Tumblr, please read this post.
And then please: make the decision for yourself to never stay with a man who expects you to be his mother and servant.
ok we joke and we jape but like. shrek 1 is th only animated/childrens movie i can think of that has th message that its ok to be an ugly woman n 4 that reason i hav a lot of genuine respect for it as a piece of art
"Many effective strategies that treat anxiety and depression don't work for trauma survivors."
(excerpt:)
“Many effective strategies that treat anxiety and depression don’t work for trauma survivors. Meditation and mindfulness techniques that make one more aware of their environment sometimes can produce an opposite effect on a trauma survivor. Trauma survivors often don’t need more awareness. They need to feel safe and secure in spite of what their awareness is telling them.”
“For those who have experienced trauma, anxiety comes from an automatic physiological response to what has actually, already happened. The brain and body have already lived through “worst case scenario” situations, know what it feels like and are hell-bent on never going back there again. The fight/flight/ freeze response goes into overdrive. It’s like living with a fire alarm that goes off at random intervals 24 hours a day. It is extremely difficult for the rational brain to be convinced “that won’t happen,” because it already knows that it has happened, and it was horrific.”
Can you please explain they Harry Potter post? I watched the movies and wasn't all that into them, and it seems like your posting pro life propaganda.
The post is a joke on the pro-life woman. She is saying that if Harry Potter had been aborted, no one could have stopped Voldemort, but that’s not the case.
Readers, we’re talking about this post
My post on the 100% hypocrisy of the so-called “Pro Life” movement
i just saw a fb post where a man was arguing with a woman about the best way to make macarons and he kept insisting that she was wrong, and then eventually he was like “I’ve never personally made macarons, but if you think about it what I’m saying makes sense, i’m simply stating the obvious. i’m sure there are plenty of youtube tutorials that would show you the same thing.” and the woman replied by linking him to her instagram business page and she makes fuckin macaron towers for parties for a living and i’ve been laughing about it for a solid 5 minutes.
Men automatically assume they’re more of an expert on something than any woman on account of their dicks. I’ve never met such an ignorant and narcissistic creature as a male
I’ll never forget a time when a fb friend of mine posted that she’s on her way to hospital to give birth. Women commented with “good luck” and other encouraging messages. A man’s comment was advice on how to give birth.
You have got to be kidding me
So I was talking about Jekyll & Hyde (the book) at a writer’s museum while we were looking at an Robert Louis Stevenson exhibit. I was giving my take on Jekyll, and my brother tried to counter it. I countered back easily, and then he said “well I’ve never read the book”
My dude………..stop
my ex, whose baking experience was pretty much limited to frying premade biscuit dough in boy scouts to make ‘donuts’, would constantly try to correct me or give me advice on baking
i’m a fucking pastry chef
met a dude at a party who was talking about physics and asked if i’d ever listened to any online physics lectures bc he listened to all of this one series and they were so helpful and maybe i could learn some physics too
i have a degree in physics
and am a published coauthor in astrophysics
the best part is that the woman who invented the term ‘mansplaining’ (her name is Rebecca Solnit and i highly recommend her collection of essays) came up with it when she was at a party one night and a man tried to explain a book to her, and wouldn’t let her speak long enough for her to tell him that
she wrote the bloody book he was mansplaining to her
