I made a conscious decision early last year of not going to the States to pursue a second degree because, as cliche as it sounds, it was my trip to the land of the rising sun that truly opened my eyes.
I try not to have this post explicitly promoting the country but rather to explain how does travel instantly defines what's next in one's chapter.

My trip over there was fractionally stepping out my comfort zone. They don't necessarily speak your language. Their customs and etiquettes are (you may think you know but there's more) unheard off. Even though it was a family trip but I felt I was stationed there alone, fending for myself (mind the drama). I developed this thing, this seemingly ubiquitous action which is 'asking people', a lot, which I don't normally do back home. And those littlest of details that left me in awe; like how cashiers insist you place your notes on a specialised tray with rubber bristles so that coins won't slide away.
I felt like in between, trying to assimilate the culture in a short amount of time after every discovery and a camera-toting tourist (which I need to stop being). What the assimilation part meant was that I felt like I'm working and living as a foreigner.
I thought I developed something similar back when I was a month-long trip to down under but sadly, the impact wasn't there. Maybe I was with my family and had stayed over at a family friend's place that didn't drove my mind differently. I don't know. I should go there by myself the next time and hopefully gain that similar feeling.
Now back to the first paragraph. After I came back, I felt I needed to do something in order to get myself back there. I had this sudden hunger of working abroad and stepping out from my comfort zone. And that is where I landed myself today, pursuing as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages (TESOL).

As I'm writing this, it's 5:12 in the morning, planned not to sleep. Two reasons behind this,
1. it has been 7 months since I did some writing (Come on! An English teacher? I should know better)
2. in 9 hours, I will be departing to my next adventure for 10 days with some of my mates from university. I've been working my millennial ass off and this possibly my last getaway before their enrolment for Masters.
I'm currently in the midst of a dilemma right now, thinking am I taking steps wisely or am I missing out the point. I know it's important to chew one bite at a time but I'm beginning to fall back of everything.
A year ago, I have found my path. Hopefully, this year I'll find whether if I proceeded it correctly.
