every bad thing you've heard about north korea was pulled out of the asses of the western propaganda machine to discredit one of the few surviving examples of a communist state, propaganda driven principally by the united states, the country which absolutely ravaged north korea, the country which is to blame for a divided korea in the first place because the big bad powers at the UN decided that koreans weren't capable of self-governance after the removal of the japanese colonial occupation.

the korean war was dreadful for north korea and it is talked about so infrequently in the west as to be commonly referred to as "the forgotten war". the whole country was carpet bombed, nearly every major city, town, and village was destroyed, the US dropped more bombs on north korea than they dropped in WWII. millions of civilians were killed. south korea massacred hundreds of thousands of communists and sympathizers, many of them civilians, a war crime they then tried to cover up and blame on north korea anyway.

the amount these people and this country have suffered at the hands of western capitalism should itself earn them your love.

I think that would be so much funny. He wakes up on a remote beach in Jamaica and he only speaks/understands Brythonic and Medieval Latin. Locals assume he was a tourist who fell from a cruise ship or received a head injury and floated away from a resort. The authorities cannot match his description to any missing persons reports and his fingerprints and DNA produce no hits on INTERPOL. They suspect he may be Welsh or French because the language he speaks resembles Welsh or Breton but France and the UK both state he is not a citizen of their country. Stateless and deeply confused, he is taken in by the community near the beach where he was found, being cared for by a number of local families and doing odd jobs. He slowly learns English and adjusts to the contemporary world, uncertain if his belief that he is the legendary King Arthur was formed by whatever traumatic event caused him to end up Jamaica or if he is actually King Arthur and Prydain is in eminent peril. Mysterious letters from Morgan begin to reaffirm his belief he is King Arthur. He must choose between staying in Jamaica and continuing the happy life he has made for himself or finding a way to get back to Britain without any documentation.

He gets to Britain and everyone expects him to sound like a posh noble Englishman because that is the picture Malory painted but he prefers to speak Welsh and when he has to speak English, he speaks with a thick Jamaican accent.

obviously objectively it’s terrible but it is pretty funny watching terfs scramble to defend 1. taking upskirt photos of people you disagree with 2. rejecting women from rape crisis lines based on their voices 3. JK Rowling’s offer to pay the legal feels of anti-abortion & pro-conversion therapy organisations. all because this slightly-above-average children’s fantasy author somehow so thoroughly became the face of a hate movement that basically nobody within that hate movement is willing to criticise her even when she objectively acts against their interests. it’s genuinely kind of baffling to watch.

As I've said many times, this is why so-called "terfs" are better classified as misogynists and transphobes as opposed to anything even adjacent to feminism. the movement is more in line with "traditional value" conservative sexism than it is with any advancement of rights for women (cis or trans).

They're not working against their interests, these are their interests. They just dress up these interests in a surface level, performative hatred of men (who they don't actually hate) and vague language that sounds like they're "protecting women", when what they're actually doing is calling upon the state to enforce the subjugation of women in the name of that "protection".

i get what you’re trying to argue here, but your second paragraph explains pretty well my problem with your first paragraph: TERFs are both traditional value conservatives & feminists. i know it’s tempting to do a No True Scotsman and say “well real feminists care about women’s rights” but unfortunately, for as long as we have had feminism, we have had feminists whose values boil down to “liberation for me and not for thee”

as much as I wish “feminism is fundamentally incompatible with transphobia” (or racism, or ableism, etc) to be true, it simply isn’t, and we aren’t going to solve the problems within feminism just by saying “those ladies don’t count as feminists though”. Feminists can be bigots!
