My Luca Haas has no desire to date hockey players (much like every RR protagonist that isn’t Hollanov, and lbr Hollanov are their own special kind of obsessed) HOWEVER his type IS athletes, it’s just any athlete EXCEPT hockey players. I think he’s got a string of European ex lovers who can’t get over him. Some English rugby player can’t stand to go to this one pub they used to get beers at, theres an Italian soccer player who agrees to a cologne endorsement in the hopes his shirtless posing and smouldering gaze will somehow reach Luca two years after their brief tryst, a tennis player from Germany has been ghosted for half a decade and still holds out hope Luca will text him back. Right now theres an F1 driver whose suddenly really into hockey, who doesn’t know yet that Luca will never fuck him because he doesn’t consider motorsports an actual sport, something that will inspire said F1 driver to take up handball. Luca will still never let him hit. #MyLuca

The thing is, I DO think Jackie Pike judged the Hollanov wedding pretty hard, as in, went to brunch with the girlies and shit talked a bit after the fact, because she understands dress codes and etiquette and her wedding to Hayden was a true black tie affair with a plated dinner and table side wine and a full serve open bar and a twelve piece orchestral band, like she planned an EVENT, so the mess that was the Hollanov wedding (that she would’ve been HAPPY to plan Sheila, if Shane had just ASKED she could’ve put something nice together in a WEEK) absolutely has her event planner eyes twitching

Ok I’m done being bitter on main for the time being, but PLEASE I am begging people to tag any fics or posts that mention Theo so that the people who don’t want to see content that mentions him can filter it out. I have like six different versions of #Theo 911, #911 Theo, #Theo Buckley, etc blocked and I STILL keep getting posts about him on my feed just like I’m still finding fics where his character isn’t tagged on ao3. I’m trying to give people the benefit of the doubt but it’s starting to feel deliberate, when it’s known that there’s a portion of the fandom that did not like his introduction and doesn’t want to see content about him. Just because you like Theo doesn’t mean everyone does. If the bucktommy people stopped tagging correctly or the buddies stopped tagging correctly people would be mad, and the same rules of fandom etiquette apply here. So, even if you like Theo please be considerate and tag him in your posts so those of us who don’t can filter him out.

At the end of the day the Theo storyline is just the latest symptom of a much larger underlying problem. For a show that is ostensibly about the importance of found/chosen family, 911 has an unfortunate and consistent pattern of showing viewers that the opposite is true, that blood is always thicker than water.

Nia goes back to her bio mom. Mara gets to stay with Henren but only because her bio parents are dead- found family is fine, as long as there's no bio parent backup. Denny has to forge a relationship with his biodad, and Henren have to allow it despite the man acting innapropriately, because he's the biodad and blood is always thicker than water. Chim has to form a relationship with estranged brother and abusive father because they're family. Buck has to forgive his neglectful parents because they're family. Eddie can't cut off his parents because they're family. It doesn't matter whether they act like family or not, because they're bio related, the show says they have to be important. They have to be forgiven. They have to take precedence in a characters life over any 'family' that isn't blood related. Blood is always thicker than water.

Why is Buck the best choice for Theo if his parents are out of the picture? Because he's the bio dad, and in 911 universe that's the trump card. It doesn't matter that he just met Theo and that Theo just met him, and that Theo almost certainly has other loved ones who would be better suited to take him in. Because Buck is the biodad, the show says he's automatically the best choice. Blood is always going to be thicker than water. It doesn't matter that Buck already has a pseudoson in Chris. Theo is biologically related to him and Chris isn't, so now Theo is always going to take precedence. The show makes it clear: found family is fine but only until "real" bio family shows up. In the end, blood is always going to be thicker than water.

It's the unfortunate curse of the show that means Buck is always going to take Maddie's side over Hen's, and that Chim will miss Karen's birthday to help Albert move. It's why Jee-Yun and Theo will get to be cousins but Jee and Chris never were, and why if Eddie's sisters show up his relationships with Hen and Chimney will shrink even more.

In 911, blood is always going to be thicker than water. Found family will never be given the same weight as 'real' family, and if you ask me that's the biggest tragedy of the whole show.

I actually think Christopher Diaz should fucking hate Theo. And I think he should NEVER come around on him either. I think he deserves to be portrayed as feeling 100% replaced in Buck’s life and entirely betrayed while not being able to express that because Buck isn’t actually his dad, even if he's been playing the role of a parent in his life for almost a decade. Theo’s prescence should do IRREPERABLE damage to Buck and Chris’ relationship actually, and i do mean the kind of damage that all the family therapy in the world can't fix. Chris should loathe seeing Eddie so much as smile at this kid. He should see Eddie and Buck running around together with Theo and have a crash out worse than when he saw Kim. He should resent Theo and the place he’s going to have in Buck’s life forever. If Buck adopts Theo, Chris (the Chris we’ve SEEN) should 100% distance himself from him. If you take it a step further and Eddie gets involved in RAISING Theo, Chris should go to school out of state and not come home for holidays (hell maybe he goes to school in Texas and Helena and Ramon finally get what they always wanted, and Eddie never really figures out where he went wrong). Chris should (and WOULD) hate that kid and the place he’s going to have in Buck life. If Theo completes Buck’s family then he should be the thing that breaks Chris’ and that’s TEXTUAL. Because the core of Buddie and the Buckley Diaz family is that Chris was supposed to be enough for Buck. But with Theo around it’s obvious he wasn’t ever anything but a placeholder at best and a nuisance at worst.

Of course, the writers are cowards and they’ll never explore this arc OR characterize Chris the way they used to when they let him be a person instead of a prop, but I will die on the hill that if Buddie is about Christopher then Theo is actually the thing that makes Buddie impossible (and that torpedos the Buckley-Diaz family as it exists).

Christopher Diaz should hate Theo. And he should resent Buck. And he should never get over it.

Tired of tiptoeing around the subject of religion in all my classes in an effort to not offend people. Yes, I genuinely believe no one should be religious. Yes, that includes your religion. Yes, that includes spiritualism and non monotheistic religions. Yes, I genuinely believe the institutional harms of religion entirely outweigh any and all individual benefits. Yes, I think it's odd you believe in something enough to build your life around it with zero evidence that thing exists. Yes, I think it's weird to believe in any sort of god, just like I think it's weird to believe in vampires or ghosts or other made up creatures. No, I don't think religious beliefs should be an acceptable defence for bigotry of any kind, and yes I think it's weird I this is all 'unacceptable' to say in public but anyone can use *insert religion of choice* to justify casual sexism or racism or homophobia without consequences, and yes I think it's weird that I can't point out religion as the driving force behind all of these things without even 'tolerant' or 'accepting' religious people jumping down my throat screaming about how it isn't about religion when it 100% is. Yes, I am aware people are persecuted for their religious beliefs. I'm also aware they are more often than not persecuted by people of other religions, using their religion as an excuse to commit violence against anyone who doesn't share their beliefs. No, I am not naive enough to believe that a world without religion would result in a world without persecution or sexism or racism or homophobia, but I do think a world without religion would get rid of a very convenient excuse for all of those things and that we would be better off without it. Die mad about it.

Shane and Ilya both compete in the Battle of the Blades one year and they're being their usual competitive selves (their figure skating partners are also playful rivals so the press is eating the whole thing up) and then they BOTH lose to Luca Haas and neither of them ever really gets over it.

The next year Shane respectfully bows out but Ilya once again agrees to take part.
