Bruce's life in this AU is some fucked up shit. Like, some aliens showed up and were given his parents' throne (this is some fucked up colonialist/imperialist shit, the Els were given a kingdom because they are "racially superior") then his parents died so he was the orphaned rightful heir to the throne, but he was raised with royal family so he is loyal to them, while there has been fractions that wants him to get back the throne, but the Els will not do that. Then it turned out that he isn't really the heir to the throne, because his mother cheated on his father with Jor-El, and Bruce is a bastard born from this cheating, and not the son of the late Wayne king. And the man that raised him, the man he saw as his father, turned out to be an alien and died (Martian Manhunter is Alfred in this AU, and so Bruce's father. For the people that like the idea of J'onn being Bruce's dad, you know what you need to read). So, the palace, the house of his parents that was given to the Els, where he grew up as a guest, raised by the help instead of his actual father that never stepped-up to the task (Jor-El is dead now, and he never told Bruce he was his father), it doesn't seem like a home.

Talia brushing him off is certainly just so we can know her background. Ra's Al Ghul is a warlock of some kind and they are some "necromancy" (because necromancy is actually the reading of the future in the dead, not bringing them back to life) shit going on, which is cool af. This sound so much more interesting than the alien bs the other are dealing with.

I kept the last panels in because the informations that Bruce keep getting into fight, while wearing an unusual armour. The aesthetic and the strong sense of justice are important!

Did you NOT read the fucking comic you’re posting about.

- Jor-El and Lara raised Bruce like a son and always said he would be given the throne. They always had a lot of respect for Thomas & Martha and respected Bruce the same. It was Bruce who did not want it regardless of his status as a bastard it was never a factor in Jor-El’s decisions?!!!

- Martha gave Lara and Jor-El the throne in her dying breath because she respected and trusted them and loved them deeply. She did not see them as “racially superior” or whatever bullshit you’re trying to lie about. She even encouraged them to help Bruce become accepted by the PEOPLE and Lara had no objections to that. She chose them because the people already loved them

- Thomas wasn’t an alien but just infertile, and grew to love Bruce all the same because he was a good man. Acting like Jor-El was malicious or forced them to keep Bruce is crazy when a page later we learn he and Lara made up and had Zala AND the Waynes clearly still trusted and loved them colonizers my ass

The Els LOVED Bruce as their own son, it’s not their fault Bruce had personal confidence issues and refused to accept that they could love him as Martha and Thomas did and he refused the throne. Multiple times he is offered and multiple times he is reminded the Els do love him…

Could be fun for an Elseworlds.

I'm not usually big on the "everybody knew everybody/is connected to everybody all along" twists, though. They often feel contrived, and make the setting feel smaller and less real, and mainly exist as nostalgia bait or similar.

And, I kind of am attached to Harley and Ivy meeting in Arkham- of Ivy already being a villain and Harley being the first time in a long, long time that she's looked at a human and seen someone worth caring for, saving, loving instead of destroying. Of Harley being the first person in just as long to look at Ivy, and see the same.

I guess what would make or break it, for me, would be how they knew each other, is it plausible, and what effect would it have on their character development and later relationships.

Though, it would be amusing if Babs knew Harley, and Babs knew Ivy, but they never knew each other until Arkham and only later do the find out about the mutual connection.

I’m working on a character study fic right now mostly fixated on Ivy and Barbs relationship with sprinklings of Harley in there but I do kinda like that last comment/idea lol. Them both being like wait, you know the dork with glasses too?!?!
