A Boston principal wrote a letter apologizing to Muslim and Arab middle school kids—- because of a holocaust lesson, and the relation of it to antisemitism today. They felt “unseen” and “uncomfortable”.

So basically, a bunch of Arab and muslim kids (his OWN WORDS) got really annoyed about having to talk about antisemitism for a few minutes, went home and told their parents. Those parents got very upset that Jews were being portrayed in anything but an evil and oppressive light— and complained to that school. And this bitch of a principal capitulated.

It’s the worst fucking timeline.

Regardless of what I think about the historicity of the holocaust or its weaponization, it’s objectively INSANE to think that a history lesson about a specific event in a specific time involving a specific group of people is somehow “erasing” anyone else’s history to the point where they feel legitimately justified in bitching about it. Your people group was not involved in the majority of human history when it comes down to it, you can’t expect to be catered to at all times, this isn’t Netflix-style “representation” where you get to demand equal screen time at all times

I’d say exactly the same thing if entitled/overcoddled Jews complained that a lesson about the transatlantic slave trade didn’t focus enough on Jewish “victims” or if gays complained that lessons on the 30 Years’ War didn’t adequately include “persons of alternate sexualities”

They need to get the fuck over themselves, but at this point we can hardly even blame them anymore for it, since as a society we’ve done nothing but teach them that this behavior and victim mentality will be rewarded

I'm usually lukewarm on "fandom + text posts" but the thing about M*A*S*H is that Hawkeye literally just talks like that. The posts will work for the other characters but so often I will see a post pinned on a screencap of Hawkeye and I can so clearly envision him saying the whole thing, with only minor edits for slang/cadence, if any in the first place. I don't know how to explain it if you haven't seen the show, but I know if you have you'll understand intuitively. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce was born to be a tumblrina and instead he was stuck in Korea a hundred years ago.
