If you see websites and apps becoming more difficult to use, don’t surrender to “enshittification” — COMPLAIN.
Find every corporate social media account, feedback button, or contact us form, and COMPLAIN about Things Getting Worse.
I know so many app/website designers who are screaming within their companies (as they get laid off one by one) about being told to use That Particular Technology to “ship fast”, which in business language = “vibe code without focusing on if people want the thing and then ship without testing.”
Add your screams to theirs. Your voices matter way more to the companies taking your money and harvesting your data.
Here’s some things you can copy/paste:
- “This is less usable than before / unusable anymore”
- “I can’t do things I used to do before”
- “The UI is confusing”
- “I can’t [do a particular thing]”
- “It takes me 10 times longer to [do a particular thing]”
- “Did you even test this with actual humans before you made me use it?”
- “I’m going to stop using this (if you keep making it worse).”
You can make things better. If something pisses you off, make your problem their problem. You’ll feel better I swear. :)
