Trap-jaw ants use their powerful mandibles to launch themselves into the air away from potential predators or intruders. This one was filmed at 3000 frames per second and then played back in slow motion. Patek lab, Duke University.

"only a poor artisan blames his tools" is such bullshit, in almost every imaginable line of work the quality of the tools you have access to plays a massive role in the quality of the end product, sometimes in excess of the role played by individual skill! For example, some people have to code in javascript
This always bugged me for two reasons.
Firstly, people would blithely say it in recommendation threads/forums to cover up their ignorance; because they'd use it in response to questions that were very materially impacted by your tool choice (eg, cameras good for low light photography).
Secondly, because it's about professionals. Part of being a professional artisan is choosing and maintaining your tools. If I'm a carpenter, saying I have a bad hammer means I, the one who chose and bought the hammer, am a bad carpenter.
Thirdly, some people are literally required to code in javascript.
How Orissa Kelly gave me rope burn!

If you like this sort of nerdy content and you’d like to see me test a bunch of fantasy tropes in a suit of armour, please consider supporting The Bluminarmour Project!
Blumineck is trying to fun a video series doing fun and serious historical and fantasy testing in fitted plate armour.

I was told that I’d get used to not having a headphone jack. I still want a fucking headphone jack. I hate that phones don’t have them. It’s stupid and awful and I hate it

That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
Either Pokemon or Yugioh.
if your sims always fucking die and your houses in the sims make no sense, consider applying for a job as a hotel room interior designer
Cloudy with a chance of meatballs put the nerd girls hair up and put her glasses back on and had a strained father/son relationship that ended with them reconciling by finally learning how to engage with each others interests and celebrate their differences and there was the giant evil sentient food as well
