I understand the economic calculus behind throwing over a million and counting of the most marginalized and vulnerable people in the US into a mass grave; short term profits are the only thing that matters and human life is worthless to capitalists, but living through it is still completely insane to me. I just talked to this older lady at my pharmacy who told me ever since she got covid a year ago she hasn't been able to walk more than 10 feet without stopping to catch her breath. I want to flay everyone responsible for that alive.

I am young and have no preexisting conditions. I work out and for about 4 ish months before I got covid I was working out specifically to get better at cardio. I was vaxxed and boosted.

Ever since I got covid my stamina is drastically reduced. I can only run full speed for like, 10 minutes, and if I do an intense cardio workout I'm wheezing for the next few hours.

It's been 2 months post covid and I haven't really seen any improvement. don't get me wrong, my life isn't impacted whatsoever. I can walk fine and do stairs (mostly) fine. I'm healthy! But the healthy young person who shouldn't be afraid of getting covid has had their total cardio times reduced by 2/3 with no foreseeable improvement. It's not that my muscles reduced. It's that my breath capacity has gotten so so much worse. I was running better after 2 years of not working out than I am now.

I don't even wanna think how I would be impacted if I smoked, or had any preexisting condition. I fit into such a slim margin of people. I'm one of 3 people in an office of about 50 that still wears a mask. It's insanity.

Because forcing someone into a situation where they don’t feel safe declining putting something into their body they’d rather not be there is totes 100% wholesome American fun

And this is something so known that it’s infinitely easier to just lie and tell people that you’ll die if you eat that food…which actually doesn’t always stop it from happening

I literally told one of my coworkers that alcohol interfered with my meds and I wasn’t drinking because it might kill me. (It wasn’t true, but that kind of underscores the point here, because I didn’t feel safe refusing him). He still tried to pressure me into drinking, demanding that I just “try it once and see what happens”. This was only the beginning of the bullshit he pulled.

I work at a camp with a zipline, rock climbing, and other activities. We have to repeatedly get in between people who don’t want to do a challenge and their peers/bosses/parents pressuring them into it. Seeing my coworker, a four-foot-eleven woman, get in an angry drill sergeant’s face and tell him very politely that he’s not allowed to force his soldiers to go on the zip if they don’t want to gave me three extra vertebrae. Some people feel incredibly entitled to other’s choices, and when you remind them that they aren’t, they get aggressive. Most times passively. Some times not.

For some people, no doesn’t mean no. No means force. The fact that they can’t legally use it outright doesn’t tell them it’s wrong, just that they have to resort to trickery to get their way, because they know best. They choose professions like police officer, nurse, or parent to assert that control, that need for dominance over those they consider unworthy. And we let them, because we as a society believe that certain people should be controlled for their own good, and teach that from the cradle.

Homestuck is a webcomic where there is a multiplayer video game called Sburb which is a standard component of reality itself. Sburb, when played, destroys your original universe and transports you to a liminal place called a Land where the goal is to create a new universe and reality. Because all the realities are made by previous players of the video game, there's a large cast that follows multiple timelines/realities. Because all of this is also a video game, there are some bugs/hacks/glitches. Much of the later plot of Homestuck revolves around trying to glitch reality in a way to kill an unkillable glitched final boss to save and fix the timelines/realities which were all glitched to being unplayable/unwinnable because of it. There are a variety of mediums in which the story is told and the guy from Undertale did a lot of the music for it.
