the place I work at remodeled these split gendered restrooms into “inclusive restrooms” and never told us what they meant while construction was ongoing. I need you to know every atom of potential criticism or whining that could’ve happened disappeared when people found out this meant we got 10 fully separate private bathrooms with sinks inside. I’ve not heard a single person crack a joke about the inclusive signage. this is the world TERFs are trying to steal from you

Solarpunk seems to get a lot of flak these days and like yeah, the yogurt commercial isn't exactly grounds for a political ideology. But also to me solarpunk really boils down to the premise that technological advancement and quality of life aren't inherently linked to increased consumption and environmental degradation. In a way I think it's a counterpoint to the warning of the cyberpunk genre that technological advancement and quality of life aren't inherently linked either.

I don't think either of these is in and of itself enough to make a meaningful political identity but I do think that they both share a message that we should reconsider how we measure progress. Also maybe it's not like a sin to think about the possibility of a utopia? Regardless of the world we find ourselves in our conditions will have the ability to improve or degrade, there's no final state just the current circumstances.
