Being a good parent means you have to make the hard decisions and chose to do what's right over what is more convenient. There will be days that your kids will test your limitations. Until they reach adulthood, it is not our job to be their friend. You have to be a parent. You are going to be the "bad guy" most days and that's okay! We must teach our children respect, responsibility, self-worth and love for self and others as well as do our best to guide and mold them along the way. There will be days of total Mom/Dad wins....and more days when we feel like we've failed. Does that mean you have to be perfect and know exactly how to react to every emotional outburst, attitude or when they talk back? No! Our kids didn't come from IKEA so an instructional manual wasn't something they sent home with us from the hospital! All we can do is take it day by day, unique situation by unique situation. No two people will ever parent/raise their kids exactly the same, but as long as you have an insane amount of love in your heart and your child's best interests as your number one priority, then no one can say you are a bad parent! Being a parent is a privilege and should be treated as such. You have to be willing to lose sleep, still get up and go to work when you were up all night taking care of a your sick child, ensuring they get up for school each day, teaching them the importance of personal hygiene even if it means dealing with a huge tantrum as to why they feel they don't need to shower but a few times per week! Or spending the last few dollars in your account to make sure they have lunch money, never going to the bathroom alone! It means making no excuses and being present! Long story short, being a parent is never easy, but it's the most rewarding thing you will ever do with your life so cherish it! And no matter how old they get, bake cookies, make crafts, dance and be silly because, once we are gone, the memories are what they will keep with them forever so make some good ones! #realtalk #momlife #love #noexcuses #makememories #instagood #insta #instagramers #instamom (at Ohio)
