when i say i care for mulder's fish it's because on literally every scene in his apartment, i would look for the fish tank and try to see the fish. i was so happy it was taken into account when scully went there after mulder flew to Puerto Rico and the policemen asked her what she was doing there, and she said she was there to feed the fish <3. also when mulder came back from his abduction and went to see the tank, then noticed molly died unu. and in season 9 you can see scully kept the fish :D! so sad they had to flee at the end of season 9 and leave them behind 😔

I've always wanted to do an edit to one of Mark Snow's wonderful piece of music from I Want to Believe 🥲❤️ His music is great in the series. Special pieces like from Memento Mori, This is not happening, Scully's Theme, The Truth are just some of my favorites. Goosebumps. Here I think the music brings out a lot of emotions and it's amazing when a piece of music touches you strongly, sometimes even makes you cry. What would a series be without great actors, producers and composers, right? I simply created a small chronological order of Scully and Mulder's magical journey and some quotes to accompany the piece of music. I hope you enjoy it. It's not my best edit but I thought it fit the melody and their journey is even more touching 🥹❤️ The music is called "The Surgery" and, as mentioned, was composed by Mark Snow for the X-Files film "I want to Believe". All Rights and Credits belong to him.

X-Files Confidential, "Conduit": Alex [Gansa] and I made an effort to play to our own strength, which is character," says Howard Gordon. "We thought this was an interesting place to reiterate Mulder's quest for his sister. We set out to tell a simple abduction story, which was played out behind the shadows. We wanted to create an air of tension. With everything that happened, we wanted to explain what it could be. At every point, everything can be explained. Was she taken or killed by her boyfriend, who she was seeing against her mother's wishes? Is it Twin Peaks or an alien abduction? That was the theme of the show.

"We also used UFO Lore," he continues, "like the idea of repeat abductions and mother-daughter abductions. Apparently you're taken and sometimes several members of the family are taken as well. I think we're most proud of the ending: Mulder's quest is reestablished (and Daniel Sackheim directed it beautifully) with Mulder sitting alone in a church with only his faith. The story, again, was fueled by Mulder's belief and emotional connection with this case. Another girl taken from her family. And, in a way, the little boy who is the conduit who is also perhaps touched by the aliens, is essentially Mulder. Those little touches the fans seem to respond to. It was difficult for us, but in the end satisfying. It came out of frustration on our parts, and creative uncertainty."

Most significant about "Conduit" for Glen Morgan was the fact that it drove home the notion of strength in diversity in terms of the writing staff. "Alex and Howard worked on Beauty and the Beast and Sisters, and they have a better character-dramatic sense," he muses, "and I think 'Conduit' really helped define Mulder. Those guys are Princeton-educated, Ivy League, with a literature background. Jim and I are more blue collar, from San Diego. I grew up on Hammer horror films and things like that. Everybody on staff was kind of teaching everybody else."

THIRTY YEARS. you're telling me you can't find what you're looking for in that back catalog? go look again. or worse, you're telling me you have to rely on AI - which SCRAPED that back catalog without the knowledge or consent of the original creators - to get what you want? you're not creating a damn thing, and whatever "content" you get back from your AI tool of choice was built with stolen parts. ask yourself if you're okay with that.

i especially love redux ii because i think it marks the moment when mulder finally leaves behind a “path to death” (his relentless search for the truth behind samantha’s abduction had long felt like a kind of suicide mission for me), and for the first time he chooses scully as his hope to live. that’s why i love the whole debunking arc bc despite knowing that it will be overturned later, the effect it had was genuinely life-changing for mulder.

before, the center of his life had always been samantha’s abduction. but from this moment on, the most important thing in his life became scully’s safety. to me, she came to represent the possibility of a future, a constructive, prospective one, instead of a retrospective one. so even though they continued seeking the truth like they used to, mulder’s entire sense of purpose had fundamentally changed, and that fact itself means everything to me.

Okay but my favorite part of Detour might be Mulder and Scully getting to be the goth kids throwing spitballs in the back of FBI class. Like basically every other interaction they’ve have with their peer agents up to now has been an earnest attempt to be taken seriously or a sad “my ex partners and classmates think I’m spooky now and we have nothing in common” kind of a thing. But they finally get to enjoy being little freaks! I want more of them nopeing out of office culture with a little look and a chuckle!
