"in the remember remember AU, how is Marinette handling her memory loss?"
she's fine.
In my au that's basically a war god throuple, if Ares was trapped in a jar like he was in the og myths Persedea would absolutely lose it.
Her and Aphrodite would be looking for him everywhere and make it everyone's problem.
Zeus made the mistake of stating that Ares disappearance didn't matter and should be looked at as a good thing and Persedea took that personally on her husbands half.
The Goddess of Loyalty proceeded to take a play out of Demeter's book and take all Loyalty from the Earthly planes until Ares was found.
The amount of wars that broke out as friends became foes, neighbours turned against neighbours, sons slaughtered fathers and the people revolted against their godly appointed kings shook the very foundations of society and disrupted almost all forms of worship.
Aphrodite and Persedea both fueled the flames of wars in order to sustain Ares wherever he was being held. Acting to fulfil prayers made to the War god in order to keep his worship strong whilst everyone else's faltered.
When Zeus tried to order the young goddess into compliance Persedea threatened to start stripping loyalty from immortals.
With every god now trying to find the lost God, it wasn't long until Ares was found.
Hermes who found and freed his brother was met with gratitude from the usually gruff God and his two Goddess.
A friendship would form from this incident that was unexpected but valued greatly by both sides. The two men would lean on that bond when later ones wife and the others son disappeared and the other gods refused to act.
Despite most moving on from the incident Zeus never forgot what Persedea had done, nor what she had threatened to do.
The only relationship worse affected than the one between king and subject was that between father and daughter when Persedea learned that the jar that had imprisoned Ares had been provided to her giant half brothers by none other than her own Father.
Persedea did not blame him for gifting them the object, she blamed him for not telling her once it became apparent that Ares was missing.
Time and again Poseidon's actions had only brought Persedea strife and she had accepted it as the fate of being an unwanted daughter begot of his enemy.
However, this time he had gone too far as now his actions were affecting not just her but her husband.
Just a little scene I wrote that occurs just after Persedione's demise in Love, Loyalty and Armour:
"Kym." sighs her father, already exhausted at just the sight of her.
Its the sigh that does it.
Not her bloody sisters body, not her nephews raging or the subsequent arrest.
Poseidons dissapointment
Her fathers dissapointment.
Because that's all she is, all she will ever be to them or anyone else now that the one person who saw her for who she is was dead.
Kymopoleia has long accepted that for whatever reason her father; who can accept his most monstrous children from the canablistic cyclopses to Scylla; will never care for her but right now?
With her Essence scraped raw from loss, her ichor singing with barely restrained grief and a storm rising inside her that might tear her apart?
Right now its all too much for her fragile control.
The tears she has been successfully holding in up until that moment begin to fall and her voice breaks as she tries to speak but for Dionysus's sake she ignores the growing feeling of humiliation at crying where others can see and soldiers on.
If her head wasn't such a mess and her vision wasn't beginning to blur she might have noticed the panic in her fathers eyes as he finally took in her dishevelled state.
Might have heard Tritons sharp intake of breath, Rhodes panicked clicks or Beth's soft whimper.
Might have seen the alarm in her mothers eyes at seeing her fiercest baby break.
But Kym sees and hears none of this.
"Please," she begs, shame crawling up her throat as she falls to her knee's but she choaks it down and focuses on what brought her here.
For so long her pride was all she's had but she here and now she would forsake every scrap of it if it meant saving her nephew, the last piece of her little turtle left in this world.
"Please Father. I'll do anything, I'll- I will leave and never come back if that's what you want but please don't let them kill my Nephew. Dionysus is all I have left and he isn't going to fight it. They're going to sentence him to death and I can't stop it so please. I know- I know you don't care about us but- but please. I can't- I can't lose him too. Not after Perse- I can't- please"
Poseidon reels as if struck, and Kym can only hope that he lets the audacity of her asking him to intervene in Olympian justice slide given that it's on behalf of his grandson whom he claims to adore.
When she finally chances a look up at her lord father there is an emotion in his eyes that she cannot place and for a brief instant it looks like he intends to say something yet the words seem stuck in his throat.
Eventually the moment ends though and the great deity that has haunted so many of her dreams and nightmares turns from her with a nod and muttered words too quiet for Kym to hear over the pounding of her own Ichor before ordering Triton to follow him up towards the Surface and Olympus.
In the wake of the king and crown prince rushing out without word or explanation it isn't hard for Kymopoleia to sneak back out the way she had entered.
Her M- The Queen and princesses might have tried to stop her, no doubt to sort out the details of her permanent banishment but they are all waylaid by panicking courtiers and guards who are desperate for explanations.
Relief on Dionysus's behalf settles in her bones as she realises that Poseidon had accepted her desperate bargain, even as a weary acceptance of her fate seeps into her essence.
Now that Persedione is gone and unable to provide her with scraps of power a permanent banishment from Atlantis will kill her.
Yet, strange as it is she cannot bring herself to care.
Before, Fading meant a drawn out, agonising end and abandoning Persedione but now?
Her sister is dead and with this bargain the Storm goddess has cut herself of from any form of worship she might have left.
Fading will be quick, perhaps another century or two before it consumes her entirely. Less than that if she finishes it herself like Persedione had done.
The surface has forgotten her, Olympus never truly knew her and Atlantis had never truly accepted her.
Perhaps it would not be so bad to curl up among the corals and simply drift away...
What's Persedione's relationship with Leto like? Was Leto aware of what Apollo was doing like Artemis?
Leto and Persedione have never met.
Leto took one look at how her baby boy raged as he talked about his new wife, saw the writing on the wall and promptly refused to meet the woman.
One of the monkeys may be hers but as far as she's concerned this is not her circus.
Zeus caused this, he can deal with the fall out.
A cowardly response perhaps but there's no world where Leto doesn't side with her son and she knows and accepts this truth about herself.
Unlike Artemis she isn't selectively blind to her son's faults, but she is mother and a mothers love is unconditional.
Leto knows that if she ever meets Persedione she will certainly like the goddess and guilt over what she's allowed to occur will set in and she doesn't want to deal with that.
Leto has gone to great pains to never interact with Persedione and her resolve only strengthens once she learns that the woman is good friends with Hera, you know the goddess whose husband she had an affair with.
Whether a God, Goddess, Titan or Titaness... Most immortals are inherently selfish creatures. It's a necessity if you wish to survive eternity.
Leto does not want her happy life with her children and later grandchild (much like Athena doesn't accept asclepius, Leto does not accept Dionysus) to be affected by the situation occurring between Apollo and his wife.
It isn't her problem and she intends to keep it that way.

Lou, you are an INSPIRATION, this is perfect
Apollo: *pouting in a corner*
Artemis: Why is your toddler of a boyfriend sulking now?
Percy: *sigh* he caught me and Zagreus talking as we were admiring Thanatos. When he got close to join the conversation he heard me say 'Those arms alone are worth staying around for eternity.'
Apollo: IT TOOK 7 YEARS OF BEING MY BOYFRIEND BEFORE YOU AGREED TO ASCENSION! All Thanatos has to do is swing his sword and suddenly you're all in on immortality?!
Vampire (Song Fic)
The family returned back from patrol to see Dick in front of the television, in a state of shock. He had been benched with a broken leg, but they hadn't expected to see him still awake.
Jason laughed, "Did you finally find out that disco…. is in fact dead?"
Richard sat frozen, staring at the frozen screen.
"Hey, are you okay?" Tim questioned, putting his hand on his shoulder, "You did remember to take your pain meds, right?"
Dick snapped out of his stupor, "Yeah. Just….never expected this song."
"A song?" Damian rolled his eyes, "Did a rogue make it or something?"
"We should all get some sleep and-" Bruce suggested.
"We know her; the singer." the eldest admitted.
"Huh?" Tim spoke, "Do you know any singers?"
Bruce shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, who is it?" Jason demanded.
"She dated Bruce." Dick stated.
Jason scoffed, "Like that narrows it down."
"Play the song." Damian demanded.
Dick replayed the video. It said Lyric Video-Vampire.
'Piano?'
'Bar song?'
'Doesn't sound familiar.'
Hate to give the satisfaction askin' how you're doin' now
How's the castle built off people you pretend to care about?
Just what you wanted
Look at you, cool guy, you got it
I see the parties and the diamonds sometimes when I close my eyes
Six months of torture you sold as some forbidden paradise
I loved you truly
You gotta laugh at the stupidity
'Cause I've made some real big mistakes
But you make the worst one look fine
"We know her?" Jason asked himself, not able to put a face to the voice.
"WE know her." Dick spoke up, pointing between them, "Tim may know of her because of…….his detective work before he moved in. Damian's never met her."
I should've known it was strange
You only come out at night
"She knows!" Damian exclaimed.
I used to think I was smart
But you made me look so naïve
The way you sold me for parts
As you sunk your teeth into me, oh
Bloodsucker, fame-fucker
Bleedin' me dry like a goddamn vampire
"Are you sure?" Tim asked.
"She knows about Father; about us." Damian stated, "It's about his playboy habits."
"So it's a song about him dumping her and she's pissed off." Jason spoke, "Can't say I blame her, but there aren't that many chicks from Brucie's past that know."
And every girl I ever talked to, told me you were bad, bad news
You called them crazy, God, I hate the way I called them crazy too
You're so convincin'
"There's maybe……ten woman." Jason speculated, "Wait, is it prior Zombie mode?"
"Yes." Dick replied.
Bruce sighed, "I've asked you to stop calling it that."
Jason looked at the screen, but every face he recalled looked so different.. He knew his memories were still jumbled up.
He sighed, "Who?"
How do you lie without flinchin'? (How do you lie? How do you lie? How do you lie?)
Ooh, what a mesmerizin', paralyzin', fucked-up little thrill
Can't figure out just how you do it, and God knows I never will
Went for me, and not her
'Cause girls your age know better
"Mama." Dick whispered.
Jason whipped his head around, "That's Mom?"
"Mom?" questioned Tim and Damian.
Bruce just stared at the screen, feeling the color drain from his face.
I've made some real big mistakes
But you make the worst one look fine
I should've known it was strange
You only come out at night
Dick changed the screen from the lyrics of the song to the official music video. In the middle of a the stage stood a petite woman, dressed in black. She was surrounded by red curtains and candelabras.
"Looks like Phantom of the Opera." Tim stated.
"Gothic Victorian." Damian spoke up, "A good choice to describe Gotham without mentioning Father by name."
"That's Mama Mari!" Jason shouted.
"Yeah." Dick said softly.
Jason sat on the floor as the music video played on, "I tried looking for her, before I came back. How did she get a single?"
"She has a whole album from what I'm seeing. She's under an alias. Even her own label from before is gone." Dick admitted, "She was Jagged Stone's Unofficial niece and designer, remember? She had more connections than Bruce, from a very young age. Bruce had connections because of Wayne Enterprises and money. She actually knew people. Says if anything, she probably wrote down her frustrations and Jagged found them, making her sing."
I used to think I was smart
But you made me look so naïve
The way you sold me for parts
As you sunk your teeth into me, oh
"The song doesn't explicitly say that Father left her." Damian declared, "Only that she felt used and betrayed. She knew of Father's nightly outings, but it sounds as if Father treated her as any other woman. He made excuses instead of simply telling her."
Bruce quickly left the room.
"Does she know about Selina or Talia?" Tim asked, "Is it possible he slipped and cheated with her?"
"I hope not." Richard responded, "I hope not."
"Is-Is she happy?" Jason questioned.
"I don't know." Dick replied, "There's no trace of Marinette Dupain-Cheng anywhere, but there's no obituaries either. Her parent passed away last year, in an accident. The bakery was shut down and sold. The last time anyone saw her was at the funeral."
"She would have done well as a Wayne." Damian spoke up.
"What makes you say that?" Tim questioned, "Though you would have been on Team Mom."
"She knows how to hide and keep secrets." Damian answered.
Bloodsucker, fame-fucker
Bleedin' me dry like a goddamn vampire
"Tch, how long ago was this?" the Jason asked.
Dick looked up the date of the concert, "Maybe…five years after the break up. Why?"
"You don't see him?" Jason said, standing up and pointing to the pianist, "Luka. Loverboy still has feelings for her. Pathetic."
"Well, he moved on, too." Dick answered, "I don't know what happened , but I looked up his old band. He's married and has a kid on the way. There's a picture and I even ran facial scan over it; it's not Mama Mari."
You said it was true love, but wouldn't that be hard?
You can't love anyone, 'cause that would mean you had a heart
I tried to help you out, now I know that I can't
'Cause how you thinks the kind of thing I'll never understand
"Why did you call her Mama Mari?" Tim questioned, his older brothers.
Jason sighed, "It's what we called her. She was…..Mom. We'd get home and she was in the kitchen baking cookies or making dinner. She helped make our clothes. She was busy, but she always had time for us. We thought Bruce was gonna marry her."
"Mama lived in the manor." Dick continued, "Sometimes she would be up before Alfred. Maybe it was just that she never slept. She was a prodigy, like you Tim. She was desiging clothes for rock stars, musicians, runways, when she was only thirteen. She was making a name for herself. Bruce adopted me and was dating her. Later, I left and Jason was here. She treated us like her sons. We were her boys. She always said how much she loved us."
"What happened?" Damian pressed.
"I don't know." Dick admitted, "I was mad at Bruce. I was in Bludhaven. It could be because of Jason's death. It could be because I left. I never called or came back to Gotham until I heard about Jason. Even then, I didn't come to the manor. I found Bruce, kicked his ass, and went back. I only came back because Tim became Robin and Barbara was injured. I asked Bruce and he said she was gone. I'm sure Alfred was the one hurting the most. He lost Jason and Marinette was like a daughter to him."
I've made some real big mistakes
But you make the worst one look fine
I should've known it was strange
You only come out at night
I used to think I was smart
But you made me looks so naïve
The way you sold me for parts
As you sunk your teeth into me, oh
Bloodsucker, fame-fucker
Bleedin' me dry like a goddamn vampire
Jason scoffed, "Bruce pulled away and fucked things up…again."
"Why would he have made excuses?" Tim asked, trying to make sense of things, "As much as it pains me, Damian's right. She knew.
"I don't know if he knew that." Jason admitted, "We knew it. She helped bandage us and everything. She helped us practice acrobatics."
"She might have been more flexible that me." Dick stated, "I looked, when I came back. There was papers about Bruce with girls at galas; sometimes one on each arm. If she wasn't gone before that; she took the hint and vanished."
Damian smirked, "She made sure the World's Greatest Detective could never find her again. I wished to have met her."
Bruce sat at the BatComputer and watched the video play again. He let the tears roll down his cheeks; he knew his kids wouldn't disturb him right now.
'Did you really know? All this time, Marinette and you never told me? You never -'
"I've looked for you, Marinette." he whispered, "I don't know how you keep alluding me. I heard about Tom and Sabine. I know you have nothing tying you to Paris anymore. I've looked up every fashion designer I could. I never imagined you would become like me; a recluse. I knew how much u hated Gabriel and yet I've turned you into him, haven't I?"
'Do you know about Jason being alive? Have you seen the team grow? Do you know about Damian? Am I the reason you won't return to see them? They miss you. I miss you, My Shining Star.'

The birth of Aphrodite’s oldest daughters wasn’t heralded by the loud crying of children, the shaking of the earth, or anything of the sort. Their birth was announced by an awkward Helios, asking if he could pick which girl would be his bride or if they would rather choose for him. The two gods, still basking in their afterglow, asked what girls he was talking about.
The Titan of the Sun merely pointed down, and following his finger, Poseidon and Aphrodite finally saw who the blonde was referring to. In the space where the sand meets the sea, stood two confused-looking girls holding each other’s hands.

fem!Percy who is the reincarnation of Cassandra of Troy, whose family line are all descended of Helenus (Cassandra’s twin brother).
Perse (or Cassandra, idk at the moment) who is able to see the future and is living in dread of the day that she meets Apollo again.
Sally is aware of her family’s history but does not know her daughter is the reincarnation of her many-times great-aunt.
Also I think Artemis may try to snatch Cassandra up before Apollo sees her.
Would Apollo see Cassandra being reborn as a chance to fix past mistakes or would he try to punish her a second time?
Pjo Apollo has clearly changed over the centuries and the version we see interact with his kids might feel remorse for how he hurt someone that was meant to be under his protection...
At the same time he's still a god and Cassandra rejected him so... Idk
I’m not sure.
On the one hand, Cass is 14 (the same age she was when cursed in Troy, in this AU) and Apollo might have absorbed enough of the modern day cultural norms to be made uncomfortable with the reminder that he had pursued a child and cursed her for rejecting his advances.
On the other hand, I’ve read some interesting reincarnation fanfics where the gods start reverting to their Ancient Greek personalities…so if Apollo starts acting like Ancient Greek Apollo there is definitely going to be some problems.
Maybe having Apollo trying to fix his mistakes but is also possessive of what he sees as his and unwilling to let Cassandra escape him again might be an interesting way to go here? She is still able to see the future, and he does need a new oracle.
Either way though, Cass is afraid of him.
Oooooh that sucks for Cassandra
How far does the possessiveness and controlling behaviour go because at some point it's gonna look alot like grooming/be grooming
At that point I can see Dionysus stepping in because he may pretend to hate the demigods but the brats are his responsibility and dear father wtf is Apollo doing to that poor child.
Suddenly Apollo has to deal with not just Poseidon and his sister stepping in but Dionysus and unlike the other two the ancient laws can't limit him thanks to his punishment
I have the urge to make it very troubling…very much a situation where Sally, once she finds out really wants to kill a god.
The worst part? Is Apollo might go to Poseidon and Zeus after the Winter Solstice Meeting and seek a betrothal contract between himself and Cassandra.
Poseidon at this point is not aware his daughter is a reincarnation, and he did not really pay any attention to the particulars of the situation between Apollo and that cursed Trojan princess, so doesn’t see a reason to say no. He also is beginning to find it hard to imagine existing without his demigod daughter alive and nearby. Apollo’s request makes sense, and also gives another layer to Poseidon’s plan to convince Zeus to give Cassandra immortality.
Poseidon knows about her prophetic abilities and thinks this is a good thing, a way to keep his daughter safe (Cassandra, Artemis, Grover, Annabeth, Thalia and Dionysus, the entire Royal House to Troy, and Sally and her extended family would vehemently disagree).
Artemis wants desperately to pull Cassandra into the Hunt, away from her brother’s grasp, but the Fates’ tapestry is already weaving in that Cassandra Jackson will be the demigod who heralds the Great Prophecy’s completion.
Cassandra is getting flickers of potential futures and would very much like to go and walk into the claws of a monster rather than deal with any more gods for the rest of her life. But unfortunately she can’t.
She also gets very good at throwing rocks at the ravens that start following her around after the winter solstice and attack any males that so much as look at her too long.
Eventually Dionysus and Artemis are going to have to explain to Poseidon about Cassandra—and while he might not have grounds to break a betrothal (if there is one) Poseidon will absolutely be thinking and planning to hide Cass in Atlantis.
Cassandra is probably going to have to stay at camp, as Apollo keeps showing up around her apartment and her school—to the point that the teachers and neighbors are asking her if she’s okay, if she’s safe.
And Cass has no way to answer them without making them targets to Apollo.
I honestly almost prefer Apollo going too hard and fast that his actions are noticeable and easy to intervene in than the alternative.
Because Apollo can be charming and manipulative. Not to mention with Prophecy in his pocket he can pull alot of strings.
Once he realises his current actions aren't getting him anywhere I dread to think what he will do.
It's like how if you slowly boil a frog it won't realise it's dying until it's far too late.
Apollo appears to back off and not long after another one of his kids turns up at camp.
Dionysus is not at camp because he's trying to convince the minor gods not to turn...
you know what? I like this idea a whole lot more 😀 the potential is off the charts.
Apollo going so hard and fast, trying to take what he sees as his. It’s so obvious though, and Dionysus will not stop getting into arguments with him in the council meetings over his behavior—which has driven Cassandra Jackson to flee back to Camp before spring arrived in search of a little peace from the god. Zeus, fed up tells Apollo to sit down, shut up about Cassandra and stop giving Poseidon reason to want to dismember him.
So Apollo does as his father bids him, he is calm, quiet, for all intents and purposes he appears to have set aside his desire for Cassandra to focus on the important things such as preparing for a war against the Titans. Even Artemis and Athena are fooled. Dionysus, despite sensing that the matter is in no way put to rest has to go and search out the minor gods to ensure their loyalties aren’t wavering so isn’t able to monitor the situation.
But while the other gods may think he has let it go, Apollo has not. Sometimes, he thinks, it is good that the mortals and even his own family have come to forget some of his domains. He is smart and calculating, and when one door shuts, he is going to go find a window to nudge open a crack.
Less than a week after Cassandra fled back to Camp (which, in spite of many people’s beliefs, was not just because she wanted to spend time with her mother, no, it was also to avoid the children of Apollo), a new son of Apollo arrives, a boy called Lester. He is average and unassuming, someone who a normal person might pass by and not think twice about.
Cassandra is not a normal person. Children of Apollo, even the girls, make her skin crawl and the memory of Troilus burns anew—she does her best to avoid them.
But this new son of Apollo, Lester…he does not seem to pick up on her desire to avoid him and his siblings, and seeks her out, wanting to get to know her. And even more…when she has a vision he actually trusts her and seems to know just how to help her through the aftermath.
and. and it has been a long time since anyone had trusted her visions. And Cassandra is tired of no one believing her. Even without the curse that had Troy believing she was mad or had lost her prophetic abilities, few people in camp ever seem to trust her when she tells them of the visions she has had.
Without realizing it, Cassandra lets this new son of Apollo get under her skin.
(Dionysus isn’t there to see through the mask of humanity Lester wears to see the god underneath, and Chiron is so busy with preparations and training these children to fight and die for the gods that he does not see the godly web of deceit and desire that Cassandra is being manipulated to wrap herself up in.)
I feel like the person that works out something is wrong is one of Apollo's kids who inherited their dads domain of 'protector of youth'.
They don't know why but their newest sibling makes all their instincts scream that something is wrong. Especially when they're near Cassandra.
They've tried praying to their dad but received no answer.
In a last ditch effort to work out wtf is going on before it's too late they pray to Dionysus.
Unfortunately 'Lester' was keeping tabs on what their kid was doing and knows his interfering brother will be returning soon.
Dionysus arrives just as Lester carries Cassandra across the camp boundary and spirits her away to Delos.
Cassandra is normally more paranoid but she had just experienced her worst vision yet and is too emotional and mentally exhausted to question it when Lester gathers her close and promises to make everything better.
Lester is her friend and he makes her feel safe.
He wouldn't hurt her... right?
oooh, this is so beautiful and so painful.
The demigods tend to define themselves and each other by their godly parents’ most well-known domains. Aphrodite kids are obsessed with their looks, Ares kids are always looking for a fight, Hermes kids are thieves…etc.
Lee Fletcher is primarily seen as an Archer and Healer. And he is very good at those. But the domain of his father that he inherited the most from is Apollo’s domain of Protector of Youth.
It is usually not a big deal, given how safe the camp is…or rather is for everyone it seems other than Cassandra Jackson.
Lee tries to avoid her as much as he can, after somehow the fact that she is the reincarnation of the cursed princess of Troy was found out—out of respect and knowledge that Cassandra has suffered more than enough in two lifetimes because of the gods, especially his own father.
But they cross paths more often than not, whether due to Cassandra getting injured, the visions that she can barely control and is fighting against (they do not talk about the handful of times that the oracle of Delphi has tried to possess her), or the handful of visions that she’s come seeking him out after foreseeing someone injuring themselves and needing medical attention immediately.
So when his new little brother, an unassuming boy called Lester shows up days after Cassandra comes back to camp months early, terrified and wild-eyed, pursued by ravens calling for her to come back. Lee gives him the talk that he’s been giving to every new sibling that comes to camp:
leave Cassandra Jackson alone. And it comes with a new order: do not, under any circumstances talk about Cassandra to Dad.
Lee does not want to experience the tingling sense of dread that came with Apollo showing up in his dreams after the winter solstice, wanting to know everything there was to know about Cassandra Jackson. He gave too much away then, thinking maybe his father was interested because of the girl’s prophetic abilities that few of the campers seem to believe.
(Lee figures out eventually that he and his siblings are the only ones who are actually able to circumvent the remnants of their father’s curse clinging to Cassandra’s prophetic abilities)
or perhaps that it was because she was now the only candidate for the Great Prophecy.
And then Lester shows up.
and the tingling sense of wrongness reappears as Lester becomes almost fixated on Cassandra. Lee wonders if it’s possible for gods’ preferences to be genetic. He does warn Lester away, in part because Cassandra has enough to deal with without Lester or Dad adding to it (and there is the niggling fear that even being the god’s son will not save Lester if he takes what Apollo has already decided is his) but the boy is persistent and Lee and Michael have too many siblings to keep track of and preparations for the coming war to monitor him all the time.
He prays to his father and his aunt about Cassandra and Lester as he is getting worried, but gets no answer from them (which should have been the first clue). Eventually he prays to Mr D when Chiron brushes Lee’s concerns off. But by then it is too late.
Lester worms his way into Cassandra’s mind and heart in a way that not even Grover and Annabeth have done. He believes her whenever she tells him she’s got a bad feeling, he holds her hand, murmuring whatever he thinks will work to pull her back when the visions get to be too much and Cassandra can’t remember where or when she is, or if she is even real. He even teaches her archery, a feat no one else has been able or willing to teach her after her first week of camp.
Slowly, without realizing it, Cassandra lets the walls around her heart—as impregnable and forbidding as the walls of Ilium had been—open for Lester. Just like she did for Grover and Annabeth—maybe having more friends will be okay?
and then the Oracle moves once more, stumbling out of the attic and trying to possess Cassandra once more, spouting a warning that she belongs to Phoebus and will not be allowed to escape her fate again. The feel of Apollo’s presence, his power, caressing against Cassandra’s skin like a lover, alongside those damning words, it is too much. Cassandra runs into the woods, and Lester follows after her.
Lester finds her crying in a clearing, bits and pieces of a vision of the Great Prophecy flickering in her head, and he pulls her close and presses a gentle kiss against her head, listening in silence as she confesses that the oracle has been trying to possess her since her first year at camp, that she has no desire to be trapped as an Oracle to Apollo. She hold prophecy in her hands yes, but she’d committed herself to the god once before and been cursed and ruined for it.
And the Great Prophecy terrifies her, as she realizes that if the Prophecy speaks of her dearh, she only has a little more than a year to live.
Lester asks what he can do to help.
Cassandra, overcome with ancient memories, wrapped up in that strange sense of safety that she always has around Lester, presses her lips against his in a desperate kiss.
she pulls back, embarrassed and apologizing but Lester gives her a sweet smile and says not to apologize, that it is okay, that he liked the kiss. Something sparks inside Cassandra, the desire not be alone, the desire to take something that she wants on her terms, not anyone else’s. And she presses her lips against Lester’s mouth again.
Things get heated, and they spend the entire rest of the day and the night together there in the clearing.
Cassandra thinks it luck that they aren’t disturbed, that Apollo himself does not come to strike his son down, and does not question how skilled Lester is when they join together, reason and paranoia fleeing under the love bites and the tender caresses and the feeling of him inside her that manages to do what death, time and rebirth had not been able to and burns away the pain of the memories of Ajax the Lesser and Agamemnon taking what they wanted by force.
Mr D comes back to Camp from his travels seeking out the minor gods, frantic from the prayers from Lee Fletcher, and fear grips him the moment he slips through the boundary and feels Apollo within the camp.
He flashes to where his brother stands, or rather, lies, in a teenage form that seems to be doing its best to hide the divinity within the mortal shell, with Cassandra Jackson lying beneath him, their naked bodies entwined.
The god of Madness roars in outrage and lunges for his brother, but Apollo strikes him with a beam of light that blasts Dionysus away long enough for Apollo to remove himself from within the girl. When Dionysus is able to return he finds Cassandra freaking out, calling Apollo “Lester”, Prophecy digging its grip into her as it pushes some new fragment of the future at her. The girl is crying and Apollo pulls her close, whispering that he will take care of her, that she will be safe. And worst of all, Cassandra lets him.
Dionysus’s brother grins at him with sky-blue eyes in that mortal shell he’s stuffed himself in, his hands gripping Cassandra possessively, one splayed out against her stomach.
They vanish in a burst of blazing golden light.
Months later, when Zeus and Hermes finally manage to retrieve the girl from Delos, Cassandra leaves the island with Apollo’s child growing in her womb.
Olympus better be prepared for an enraged Sea God to come knocking.
- Very good.
This is the type of film that the phrase “glorious technicolor” was invented for - look at the richness of the colours!
To say nothing of a phrase that gets used in this house a bit too often…
ok so this is The Court Jester with Danny Kaye and it is the best fucking movie i swear. It’s a comedy musical robin hood parody thing about an incompetent moron and his extremely competent ass-kicking girlfriend taking down a tyrannical king and restoring the throne to the rightful heir
-the rightful heir is a baby and they can tell it’s the right baby because of a giant birthmark on his asscheek
-the main character’s only talent is singing and the rest of the pseudo robin-hood group just kinda tolerate him because he repeatedly fucks up
-he gets hypnotized into believing he is this amazing swashbuckling sword fighting hero along the lines of Wesley from the Princess Bride and ends up fighting the villain while snapping in and out of hypnosis
-the vessel with the pestle has the pellet with the poison, the chalice with the palace has the brew that is true “what”
-he stumbles his way through the entire plot and never knows what the hell is going on
-Danny Kaye is the funniest motherfucker you’ve never heard of
-seriously go watch it you wan’t regret it
#yea verily yea ( @lessthansix)
And a fun tidbit from the filming was that Danny Kaye had never fenced before this film, so he was trained by Basil Rathbone’s stunt double who was also the fight coordinator. Kaye got so proficient so quickly, that Rathbone himself had to do most of the duel scenes between them as the fight coordinator eventually couldnt keep up with him on the more technical parts of the fight. If you watch closely, you can see that Rathbone stays on camera doing the fencing for a much larger percentage of time than he normally did by that point in his career, and Kaye does all but a couple of shots of his own fencing, because HIS double couldnt keep up and make it believable.
I need everyone in this thread to know that it is my belief that the post escaped containment in a drastic way because my Texan stepfather, a lovely man who is the least On Tumblr of anyone any of us has ever met, put this movie on for us to watch yesterday because “The Internet says it’s great and underrated, and apparently there’s a fight scene we need to watch.”
He chortled his way through it and pronounced you all correct and then lost his shit when I showed him my favorite backstage photograph:
What if the Athenide was in Epic the Musical
I’m actually shocked there hasn’t been any “what if the Athenide was in Epic the musical” or at least in The Odyssey fanfics considering how massively popular Epic the musical is in the Greek myth community. It’s even more surprising considering how both Poseidon and Athena play major roles in the story, meaning Perseleia would definitely play a huge role if she was in it too.
I can see her being torn between whether to ally with her dad Poseidon in avenging her brother Polyphemus since she’s sees the genuine hurt he’s going through. But she’s also torn between allying with her mom Athena and helping Odysseus get home. She’s loyal to both her parents but is torn in deciding for herself who to help.
She would be so devastated by Astyanax’s death oh my god. She’s a goddess who protects children/infants, so her being unable to save this one baby since it’s the will of the gods (Zeus) would have her shattered.
I think As the goddess of loyalty, Perseleia would really like Odysseus for his unwavering commitment to his wife and son throughout his journey. Maybe she secretly tries to help him avoid her father by giving tips and secret shortcuts in the sea. Perseleia is so concerned for her dad as she sees him grow more unhinged and disheveled over the years as he obsesses over hunting down Odysseus.
Maybe instead of Athena training Telemachus, she asks her daughter to do so and Telemachus ends up forming a crush on Perseleia (Apollo does not like). I can see Perseleia visiting Penelope and telling her to not lose faith in her husband and stay strong, all while keeping her company over the years.
Imagine during Get In The Water, Perseleia shows up and stands between Poseidon and Odysseus, raising her sword up at Poseidon as she begs him to please just let Odysseus go home and stop all this. Poseidon has a soft spot for his favorite daughter and would be torn. But ultimately, his rage gets the better of him and sweeps her to the side with his waves and resumes trying to kill Odysseus.
Poseidon: “Perseleia, get out of the way!!”
Perseleia: “No! If you love me…….you will stop all of this. Now!! Please………patéras. Let’s just go home…..”
During the final arc, where both her parents are gravely injured (Athena after confronting Zeus and Poseidon getting his ass beat by Odysseus), Perseleia is just so done with everything and worried sick about them both.
These are just my ideas! Feel free to share your own!! I wanna hear them!!!
But does Apollo baby-trapping Percy make Poseidon worry and try to break them up, only to make Percy feel trapped the baby-trapping more because he refuses to follow his dad's advice to just run away to Atlantis and become an absent parent like Poseidon?
I hadn't even thought about Poseidon's place in this dynamic but this would absolutely 100% happen. Poseidon tries to convince Percy to run away to Atlantis, leaving the child behind entirely (there is no way Poseidon would allow Apollo's spawn in his kingdom), and Percy is just struck with the thought of not knowing his dad most of his life, of other demigods never meeting their parents or only meeting them when they want something, and centuries and millennia of that. He thinks about gods abandoning their children to suffer and die, about his sister hiding in the darkest depths of the sea because their father won't welcome her back home, and Percy just. . . can't. He can't continue that legacy. He can't be another god who turns his back on his children.
In this scenario, Percy is fully aware that it's a trap. He knows what Apollo is doing, he sees the bait and the snare, and he knows that he's going to step right into the trap because there is no other option. Apollo figured out the one bait that Percy can never ignore and now. . . This is his life. His eternity, with children he loves but never asked for and a husband he'll love eventually but resents and fears at the same time and immortality that he never wanted at all.
