I just saw a clip of YK and FJ ladies singing Kalafina's Alleluia. I couldn't find any post about it on your blog. Have you watched it? Where can I watch the full version? And what are your thoughts? Thank you!

Ughhhhh...I know you probably don't have any bad intentions but people really need to stop asking me about this sort of stuff. Since yesterday, I have received a bunch of questions/messages about that performance and I can already tell you now that I am definitely not gonna be replying to all of them. Your message was by far the nicest one so I am picking it to say my piece and be done with the matter once and for all.

For reference, anon is talking about an upcoming appearance of YK and FJ on NHK's program "tiny desk concerts JAPAN". The half-hour concert will include a performance of Kalafina's "Alleluia", some clips have been floating around on Twitter where we hear tiny glimpses of all the songs. And no, there's no full version yet but I am sure it will pop up everywhere once the show has aired so don't worry about that.

As for me personally, of course I have seen all the news posts, clips and fan reactions on Twitter. I check Twitter for updates several times a day and I follow a bunch of people in the fandom, my entire feed is full of Kalafina and YK stuff so there's really no way something like this happens without me seeing at least 30 tweets about it.

The thing is though that I don't see any reason for me to interact with this sort of content or to post about it on my blog here. Yes, they are singing a Kalafina song but Kalafina is not involved in the performance in any way shape or form so I have little to no interest in this. I've never made it a secret that I don't particularly care for the other vocalists so I have literally no horse in this race. And don't even try to misconstrue my indifference for something it is not. I fully respect Yuki Kajiura's right to cover her own music and it would never cross my mind to fault her for wanting to perform all these amazing songs. She can do whatever she wants. However, I will admit that her particular song choices in most recent times keep rubbing me the wrong way. I feel like it only further divides fans but hey, maybe that's the whole point...

I'll leave it at that since I usually try my best to stick to the saying "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"...

Idk if I'm the only one who feels recent patches from 4.3 quite underwhelming. The quests in Sumeru used to wear me down but now, I've appreciated how much we were served each patch; for example archon quest(s) all tied together neatly, story quests focusing on characters' past and their bonds, beautiful region expansion with intricately woven lores etc.

I'm still waiting for the history of Fontaine with Egeria, what exactly happened to those underwater infrastructures, where is the closure between the hydro dragon and former hydro archon as they were keys to the plan of saving Fontaine, how 4.2 changed them as individuals, and why isn't there even a concern for Celestia's possible punishment?

Seeing how well Sumeru and 4.2 were delivered, HYV'd better be cooking a grand feast for Natlan otherwise there's no other excuse for them being this sloppy

zutara is one of those ships that feels organic because of how their individual arcs developed and eventually converged. the foundation was convincing because it was rooted in their individuality rather than motivated by a simple "these two characters should end up together."

there are plenty of canon romances that feel lacking to me because there are writers who just decide what pair(s) they want to become endgame rather than taking into account how their characters will grow individually in the long run? are they actually compatible, or the writer just like the idea of them becoming canon?

so for zutara's case, even if people say "but it's not canon or endgame", they still cannot erase the fact that there are parts to their stories that were intrinsically intertwined. the connection and bond they formed ever since that fateful encounter in the catacombs and when they saved each other during the comet was something unique to them and their dynamic. and this will always be more compelling to me than "but this ship is the canon endgame"

I think it was also one of the reasons for the zutara community's longevity and why we are blessed with amazing metas. the fanworks are also creations that delve deeper into the foundations we had in the storyline but left unexplored due to what became endgame.

maomao is my favorite "not like other girls" style protagonist bc for one shes a girls girl through and through. to the bone. and two she's just a weird little freak. absolute lunatic. they have the whole "omg she's actually beautiful and everyone falls for her when she's all made up" trope but the punchline is that she does not fucking want to look like that. she actively puts dirt on her face every day bc she does not want to be perceived as attractive (mostly out of fear of being used for sex work though at the same time she has the utmost respect for women who do sex work like she grew up in a brothel those are her sisters). she's Sherlock level smart and solves every mystery so fast but goes "well thats none of my business. anyway back to testing poisons on myself" she has the 2nd most powerful guy in the nation head over heels in love with her and is like "man this guy is weird around me what's his deal. I guess he's fine though because he gives me rare medicines and has no dick" fucking ICON i love her. also she once slapped someone so hard they fell on the floor. 10/10

I HATE HATE HATE how toxic sides of fandoms would pick on popular straight ships by commenting father-daughter on every other straight ship contents and had the balls to say "I'm allowed to have an opinion!🤪" like can you keep it to yourself and find contents that suits you?

Also.. father-daughter??? Seriously??? Do they even know what father-daughter relationship is like??? Or do they not have a father to know what father-daughter relationship actually is???

The straight ship apparently had

✅ Jaw dropping symbolisms

✅ Subtle flirty lines (seriously? what father daughter would flirt with each other)

✅ Treats each other like an equal and have no need for parental affection

✅ Has official crumbs from the creators

And they would be like, OMG FATHER DAUGHTER!

Don't get me started with the "siblings dynamic" they always gaslight themselves to believe in because apparently that certain straight ship gets in the way of the most sexualized/fetishized ml𝐦 ship that has no actual mlm shippers and was just created because some fans are so h0rny they want to get off by making two of the most random male characters f𝐯ck with each other and the most "obvious evidence" they could present is that the male characters are beside each other in the official art or "they give g𝐚y vibes" / one is dominant and the other is a "f𝐞mboy" self insert character.

...or maybe they're insecure about some female characters? ISTG they will always find a way to hate the most gorgeous/kind/gentle/well-written female characters especially when they're involved in a popular straight ship on which one of the characters (most of the time male) is also involved in a rival g𝐚y ship.

And when there's an actual healthy g𝐚y ship they'd act as if it doesn't exist, probably because the characters don't make them h0rny asf.

Like come on, just say you hate straight ships instead of finding the most ridiculous "evidences" to debunk them and shoehorn your headcanon to other people, ignoring the actual pieces of information presented to you because you're butt hurt from the truth and you use shipping g𝐚y characters to cope with a certain real life straight relationship trauma.
