I’m in a bit of an art slump lately but today is the anniversary of me posting my first silm fanart on here so I celebrated it with a quick redraw of it with my current Maglor design (Elrond didn’t really change)

Je ne suis pas entièrement convaincue par le résultat (ceci est une litote), mais considérant que cela fait quasiment un an que je n'ai pas touché à un crayon pour dessiner... je vais m'en contenter xD
Voici un petit Maitimo avec son renard en peluche, mécontent d'être tenu éveillé par les vocalises nocturnes de son frère nouveau-né (une scène de mon histoire Grand frère)
A la base je voulais essayer d'y mettre de la couleur avant de le poster ici, mais c'est un art dont les arcanes m'échappent manifestement 😅

Thursday evening:
My brain: Tough week at work, huh? Me : You don't say! Luckily tomorrow's a public holiday, wich means we have a three-day weekend! I'll have so much time to work on my stories, and exercice, and watch Speedons, it'll be great. And now time to sleep, my vision's starting to get a bit blurry. My brain: ...Yeah, 'bout that...
Friday:
My brain: Well HELLOOOoooOOO KIND LADY! Have you ever heard of ✨OPHTHALMIC MIGRAINES✨?? 'Cause you're IN for the BIGGEST ONE!! It can last for SEVENTY-TWO HOURS OF PURE CEREBRAL PAIN and will pound into ONE WHOLE HALF of your head no matter how many painkillers you take! Don't even THINK of using a screen, the minimal light will send me ABLAZE! 🤯 Me: FINE! I'll write my stories on good old paper then! My brain: AahAAAAH! Bold of you to even think of getting out of bed! SURPRISE !! Every MOVEMENT will be so painful it's going to make you literally throw up if you try to do things! Me: Okay, no exercice. I'll just spend the week-end in my bed listening to Speedons on my phone, in the dark, without moving. Great... My brain: Have I mentionned that sound is painful too? Noticed that sharp spear piercing through your head at every sound you hear? Yeah, that's, huh, that's a symptom too, actually. All you can do is SLEEP!! ...Given that the pain will actually let you sleep, that is. Also the heat is an agravating factor too. Luckily the cold helps, soooo if you can avoid getting too warm... Me: IT'S LITERALLY THE HOTTEST DAY WE'VE HAD IN MONTHS!! My brain: I KNOW RIGHT???? 🎇 I'm on FIIIIRE!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Monday morning:
My brain: ... Me: Why. Why do you do that. My brain: Heh... not sure. Maybe you have accumulated too much fatigue and stress last week? I also recieved a note from your digestive system specifiying that they had a hard time with your fast food of Thursday evening, could be related. Or not. I don't know. Or it could have been the sudden rise in temperature these last few days, you never react well to that. Anyway, I'm functioning properly again, soooo... back to work? Me: I hate you.

Just spent half of the afternoon working on a character for the upcoming chapters of my fic Marines, developing way to much his personality, backstory, personal goals...
This guy's supposed to be one of Maitimo's Teleri friends, he appears in like a dozen short chapters at best; but now I just want to write a whole story about him getting off at sea with Maitimo and Findekano to teach them how to sail a ship on high seas and show his Noldor friends some cute belugas, then he gets stuck in the ice and ends up wintering on the Helcaraxë ice floe, teaching his southern friends how to survive in those extreme conditions until next spring
Of course none of this knowledge would ever be useful to them again, right ? ...Right??

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!

I only ever saw the part where people started drawing the limbs outrageously long and genuinely wanted to know how to fix that, so I’m really thankful to see the rest.
This is just reminding me that I need to pick up a pencil. But I know I’m not going to ever finish the drawing. 🤷♀️
