Defending Alt-right (which is a rebrand of the Nazi ideology) and suggesting they deserve equal consideration, which is, again, the exact point of this comic and why it’s a wrong-headed idea.
The person who reblogged this never once defended the Alt-Right in any regard and if they have on their blog, you have to show proof or else your claim is worthless.
We don’t need to “prove” them wrong. We’ve already DONE that. We had a world WAR about that. The decision had already been made. There is no good trying to re-open and re-debate it now. Their views haven’t changed. They’re still awful terrible people who’s ultimate goal is genocide of groups of people they don’t like/agree with. You do not “win” by allowing that ideology to grow and gain power. You “win” by shutting it down before it even starts.
Evidently their ideas have changed. While at their core, the ideas are the same they have taken on new forms and new identities to escape the stigma of what they once were before. Hence why the points aren’t exactly one for one.
So now a new debate has arisen and now a new battle must be waged. And the only way to win is through equal terms and an equal playing field. That way, when they resort to cheap tactics and shady moves, they look weak and pathetic as you can match them blow for blow even as they are unbound by the restrictions you have.
But since you have done the dirty deed first, you have validated THEM by being weak and pathetic.
And what part about a “fair and open discussion is wrong?” The part where it’s “fair.”
A. Learn how to use quotation marks. Your quoted ended at “discussion” not “wrong?”.
B. Thing is: them being scumbags does not allow you to be a scumbag. It just means you make yourself equal to them instead of proving yourself superior.
You might not consider yourself a Nazi, but defending them is (in my books) just as equally bad. I’m genuinely surprised that you, a trans person, would even TRY to suggest Nazi’s deserve to be heard…
As oppose to you, who demands people think exactly like them or be gas-I mean, silenced?
