Update for y’all. Unfortunately not the update people wanted. I’ve been debating if I was gonna post this or not.

First off I have to say the play was amazing. I met Ncuti and he was so lovely.

Now on to the scrapbook. I arrived at the theatre late so I gave the gift box to a member of staff. After the play I asked about it and was assured it was delivered.

Went to meet Ncuti at the stage door but when I got to speak to him, he hadn’t had the box.

We’re fairly sure it will turn up and I’ve got a theory or two about where it could have ended up and Ncuti promised me he’d look into it. I’m also hoping he’ll post something to let me know when it’s been found (I explained that it was 6 months of work so I’m sure he gets how important this is to me!) but if he does I decided I didn’t want you guys to be blindsided with the information.

On the plus side I have pictures!

Right, update! He’s still not had any of the stuff I gave him but I now know where it is. They have a stash of gifts for him at the stage door and he’ll get it another time. I’m still a bit annoyed that I wasn’t told he wouldn’t be getting it that day or I’d have kept it passed it on myself!

This will probably be the final update on the subject unless something unexpected happens. I rang the theatre this morning and they confirmed that all the gifts left for Ncuti at the stage door have been collected (the lady on reception couldn't say for certain it was by him but that it probably was). That means Ncuti should now have the scrapbook and all of the other goodies that went with it!

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to figure out. When Ncuti got in touch he sent me a little video message to let me know how much he loved the gifts. I haven’t shared it publicly and don’t intend to do so, however I have now put it as an unlisted video on YouTube. I saw Ncuti this weekend! He remembered me! When he first saw me he said “Hey, you” and I thanked him for the video and he thanked me again for the scrapbook and told me he loved the shirt I gave him and that he wears it all the time. Could he be any sweeter?

I've seen a lot of people in the comments saying people needing to pass a test to have kids is a good idea, but I don't think they understand what that means. The US government used to take Indigenous children from their parents for reasons as asinine as grandparents living in the home (called "overcrowded environment") or using only their native language at home instead of English (because it "failed to prepare" children for a world where English is the dominant langauge).

Children placed in residental schools were abused, murdered, and sold into arranged marriages with white men. More recently, children "adopted" out into white households are often also subjected to the same, as well as forcibly converted to Christianity.

The most effective way to protect children in the country is to give them rights to ensure their safety, autonomy and dignity. Eugenics and laws to control reproduction will not do that. Crafting legislation with the help of child wellness experts is a better choice.
