ZUTARA FIC SEARCH
hello, i just spent the last month in a manic phase reading a mountain of zutara fanfiction. the phase wore off last week but i woke up today wanting to read a specific fic. the issue is that i drowned my history and it is impossible to serahc it thru the search bar
i am hoping someone recognizes it
zutara fic, post war. zuko is fire lord and is having to handle a coup within his own generals. i think zuko and katara are engaged and she has to go back to the southern water tribe. ships from the fire nation arrive and she demands a ride from one of the ships. a mean rude egotistical captain lets her get on the ship of a female general but when they are about to leave, the male general attacks. katara goes down to the ship where it has been pierced and manages to hold it together until the ship makes it back to the fire nation where zuko learns that the generals are acting out against him and going against his orders
i am pretty sure it has a tag of badass katara
Say enough, say enough
Did I let her know, let her know?
If I found my body in chains
I'd lay down and wait
And hope she looks for me
The Craving by Twenty One Pilots
Katara has many regrets in life but giving her boy the Jinshi Haircut is not one of them.
Listen,
I need a zutara fanfic in which Katara is pregnant and it's Zuko who is suffering sympathetic pregnancy (Couvade Syndrome, to you nerds)
I'm talking Zuko not being able to stand certain food smells, nauseous in mornings and severely craving Fire Flakes.
never forget what they (that show, hbo, the usual dumbasses we all know, that lady who was the one in charge of casting, who i can't remember her name right now) took away from us:
gendry actually being a child, first and foremost.
how arya is the social extroverted one and gendry is the asocial introverted one.
gendry canonically being the one with a crush on arya.
gendry's adorable and childish flirtation skills: e.g. "a nice oak tree" and "those soft little things" (when talking about arya's own hands)
gendry canonically being the one that gets irrationally jealous when arya talks with other boys.
gendry canonically being the one that wants to make arya feel jealous.
gendry being awkward and very reserved about sex (because the boy is a virgin, alright)
the fact that arya and her friendship really meant something to book!gendry. (can we even think for a milisecond that probably arya was the first person to actually show gendry that she truthfully cared for him and his well-being?)
how they were and still are separated, but gendry hasn't forgotten about her even for a second. he is still mourning her, because! she! is! important! to! him!
another thing that really hurts me too: how they completely erased the fact that arya and gendry are still in parallel journeys with both being child soldiers that choose/were groomed to join a cult (the bwb later on became a little more cultish with lady stoneheart in charge) and how said cult or cultish organization is obsessed with death. also, can i bring attention to the fact that affc!gendry is fucking dark? there's always people claiming that book!arya has gotten too dark for book!gendry, the same boy (just let me remind people) that is currently an outlaw knight and is part of a group committing war crimes in the riverlands trying to avenge the killing of the stark faction at the red wedding. book!gendry could never be soft boi show!gendry, even if he tried.
and how arya and gendry probably still would understand what the other went through in their time apart better than anyone else.
honestly there's not a "darker arya" without a "darker gendry" to accompany her when they reunite, now that i think about it.
immortality as theft (you have to steal life from something else) immortality as parasitism (there is something else inside You that is keeping you alive and you become less of yourself more and more the longer it stays in you) immortality as violence (everything is trying to kill you because everything is supposed to die and the universe will always try to find a way to right the wrong that is You) you understand
#at least once a month I think about that one post about laminating a paper towel#and how that makes it immortal but also forever prevents it from fulfilling its true purpose#yes you will live. but at the cost of everything that makes you You

Amazing pottery skills
Flawless
This is the most technically proficient pottery throwing I've ever seen. The economy of motion? Literally everything in one pull, one squeeze. Absolutely no even minor touch ups required. This shit is like watching a skilled magician even as someone who knows how to throw on the wheel. I am watching this the way that someone who is great at a few card tricks watches Penn and Teller.
shipping bagginshield kiliel and filiori all at the same time is funny when you consider all three Durin's started the journey single and by the end of it are all paired off/married poor Dís must have been very confused like what the fuck happened on this quest bro
After The Battle Of Five Armies
Bilbo: SINCE WHEN WERE WE MARRIED?! WAS YOUR PLAN JUST NOT TO TELL ME?!
Thorin on his death bed with fear in his eyes: Mahal kill me already. Who told you/you didn't know?
Fili and Kili on the other side of the infirmary laughing their asses off. They "accidently" called Bilbo uncle which lead to the Mithril shirt and bead Bilbo was wearing in his hair being explained.
And that is how the King Under The Mountain got a scolding on proper courtship, and a husband.
I love them being oblivious + cultural misunderstandings.
Bilbo Baggins having rocks as his life long special interest and everyone in the shire loved it cuz he goes and takes rocks they don’t want from their gardens and stuff and so then the company comes for the unexpected party but he’s just like YALL WANNA SEE MY ROCK COLLECTION and he’s never been happier in his life.
Bilbo being the typical mother figure who finds everything the others lose in plain sight, leading to Thorin repeatedly being absolutely flabbergasted when for the 5th time that week Bilbo digs up an ancient family artifact that went missing centuries ago
I took that sugar cube as a child. I also remember the March of Dimes sign on the easel at many stores, all with dimes stuck on them.
I've told this story more than once, and I'm telling it again because it changed my life. When I was a kid I was terrified of needles, and hated getting all my shots. I was a sick kid with a lot of undiagnosed disabilities, and my gramp picked up on the anxiety I had and decided to talk to me about it. He offered to take me to get my flu shot for a christmas gift that year, and when I grumbled about getting a flu shot he said, "well, I had scarlet fever when I was your age. My parents didn't believe in doctors so I wasn't allowed to get my shots, and so I got very sick and almost died."
It stopped me in my tracks. I was 6. I had heard from adults my whole life that shots were important, but I didn't really understand the consequences of not getting them. I asked him to tell me why his parents didn't believe in doctors. He said he grew up out in the midwest on a farm, and his parents were "a type of christian" that believed people got sick because god wanted them to get sick, and going to the doctor was going against what god wanted. His parents were terrified of making god angry, which was something I could understand considering I was raised evangelical. But I was confused because he HADN'T died. I asked him how he'd made it this far if he had never been allowed to go to the doctor and he'd been so sick.
And he told me that when he turned 15 he'd run away from home, hopped on a train that took him all the way up to New York, and started asking door to door where he could get these new vaccines he'd heard about. Everyone told him the air force base was the place to go. He went in, asked around, and got his vaccines. At 16, he had his very first annual physical. Shortly after he met my gram, who was the telephone operator for the doctors office he went to every year for his checkups. And he told me as we sat there in the doctor's office that he was the ONLY person on both sides of his family to live past the age of 60.
I was both horrified and amazed. I went in, got my shot, and he held my hand and said he was proud of me because what I was doing was important. I was still very scared of needles, but it was easier to deal with the sore arm knowing I was keeping myself safe. He lived to be 90 years old, and he was proud to be the first person in his assisted living facility to be vaccinated for covid. When we went to visit him for his 90th birthday just before he died I asked him what he was proud of doing now that he was 90, and he said he was proud of living this long because as a child no one believed anyone could survive the things he could. He said he was perfectly happy to have married, had kids and grandkids, and eat his Applebees knowing he'd cheated death 15 times over.
An opinion piece I photographed from an 1860s small press periodical from Hartford Connecticut.
Get your fucking vaccinations.
and he’s been trying so hard too
