HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 💐
This is my favorite comic
i started doing whatever I want when I realized 9/10 times the worst case scenario is someone being mad at me like ok I can live w that
some thoughts on self objectification
Holy mother of hell
this is a huge reason why lesbians can go years just not figuring out that they aren’t attracted to men. when your whole understanding of attraction is “objectifying yourself to the point that you understand intimacy as a performance to be the perfect sexual object for a man” then the question of who and what you desire isn’t even being asked- let alone answered.
it’s so dumb that broad shoulders are considered unattractive in a woman just because the ideal of womanhood is based on the perceived fragility of a smaller frame. have you ever seen a woman with broad shoulders? looks like she was sculpted by the gods themselves
i still cant believe a homophobe has the last name gaiman, g-d looked at u and gave u that blessed last name + u sully her legacy by bein a piece of shit
🔫🔫🔫 hand it over idiot
lgbtrotsky charlielesbo
He’s one of the first authors to put a Trans protagonist in a mainstream comic book.
There’s a kindly elderly lesbian couple in Coraline (and he says they are lesbians).
The character he created for Spawn (now owned by Marvel) Angela, is a lesbian in a loving relationship with a trans woman.
And there’s Loki in Neil’s book on Norse Mythology.
There’s also quite a few LGBT+ characters in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, which include:
Paul and Alexander Burgess (male couple),
Judy (lesbian),
Donna AKA Foxglove (lesbian),
Hazel (lesbian),
Cluracan (Bisexual),
Wanda (Trans woman),
Desire (Genderfluid and panasexual),
The Corinthian (gay),
John Constantine (bisexual),
All Neil Gaiman has said in the matter of Crowley and Aziraphale is that fans can interpret their relationship any way they want. Headcanons are your own. He just feels that to use human terms like gay / Straight / ect doesn’t actually fit because they aren’t human. So let’s make up a new LGBT+ friendly term for non-humans as he allows headcanons of all kinds and will not discourage them. How about Pan-Celestial? These characters only have gender if they will itand they only choose to be perceived as male. This is also true with Lucifer in the Sandman comics.
You mustn’t leap to conclusions. Neil has been an advocate for LGBT+ causes since the 80s (if not earlier).
Also Neil Gaiman is a MAJOR Bowie and Queen fan, so much so that his version of Lucifer (Basis for the Netflix character) was modeled after David Bowie.
Also Neil Gaiman, himself, clicked link on a post of mine about shipping Morpheus with Daniel from Sandman. Does that even remotely sound like a homophobe to you, kids?
When Tumblr wants to lynch someone they should REALLY learn the facts first, m’kay?
Get the fuck away from Neil. He is not only a supporter of fanfic writing but actually published a fucking collection of Sandman fanfic (one entry was given to him to read by the author at a book signing)
What the fuck??????
How do you go from “I will not give non-textual answers about my work” to “homophobic”? That’s a leap with no ground on either side of the gap.
God this site is full of entitled little fucks and I loathe all of you and your ignorant shit-filled ‘hot takes’ get O U T
Neil Gaiman listened to fans who read the book and said, “I read Good Omens and thought Aziraphale and Crowley might be in love” and went, “Huh, yeah” and then DELIBERATELY WROTE THEM AS SUCH IN THE ADAPTATION, INCLUDING ADDING IN EXTRA SCENES TO SHOW JUST HOW AND WHEN EACH FELL IN LOVE WITH THE OTHER, and you assholes are calling him a homophobe for saying “gay” isn’t an appropriate label as they are neither male, nor *human*, while confirming they are definitely in love and saying you can imagine that love taking any form you want?
What the everloving FUCK is wrong with your critical thinking skills? Did you just turn your whole brain off because you didn’t hear the only words you care about?
Getting REAL tired of younger people judging older media - especially older media with queer themes and queer characters - by today’s standards and deciding it’s Homophobic.
Good Omens specifically set out to be a very very faithful adaptation of the book, per Terry Pratchett’s wishes. Since he’s dead and can’t comment or approve changes. It still focused on the Aziraphale and Crowley relationship a lot more than the book did.
This is right up there with that whole kerfuffle here on Tumblr a few years ago about how Wanda from Sandman is Problematic because a trans character from 1991 is somewhat different from how one would write a trans character 25+ years later.
Anyway, OP and their friend - first person to reply on the thread - are now doing the “Ugh can’t you take a joke” thing while simultaneously doing the “Ugh, we’re TEENS, adults are so MEAN” thing, and I’m also getting some ace-exclusionist vibes.
So I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is more of the same “I don’t think it counts as queer unless they fuck” bullshit.
There are quite a lot of ace-exclusionist vibes from this, especially because he HAS confirmed it’s a love story between Aziraphale and Crowley, but how exactly that is is left up for interpretation but has also been confirmed to be non-sexual in nature.
So to them, it’s only ‘valid’ LGBT representation when it’s not asexual
“STOP CALLING ME AN IDIOT ENTITLED BABY, IT WAS A JOOOOOOKE!”
Dumbass.
Apparently also did not notice that a fan told Neil that Crowley and Aziraphale opened up a conversation with their parent who’d previously rejected their coming-out, and Neil almost cried and immediately said he’d pass it on to the actors.
Yeah, such a homophobe. 🙄
Also since I don’t see her mentioned, there’s a bisexual Native American woman in American Gods: Sam Black Crow. She’s as close to “neutral good” as the book has, and gives one of the most amazing monologues I’ve ever seen (folks who’ve read the book may recognize it if I call it the “I believe” monologue).
Likewise, in the TV adaptation, Bilquis is made explicitly bisexual, and Salim—a gay Muslim character in the book—is given a wonderful and expanded role, including actually getting something you never really see in queer TV: a romantic gay love scene. They had the chance to fade to black and instead went with something wonderful and transformational and refused to get squeamish over depicting an important aspect of Salim’s self-discovery, or to turn it into “look at these kinky gay freaks, being all GAY and shit.” It was just….there. Sex as a regular part of human (and divine) life, shared in this case by two men (well—a man and a djinn who presents as male, I don’t know if djinn have genders exactly).
So MISS ME with talking shit about Neil and queer inclusion. I will COME FOR YOUR FUCKING LIFE.
PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN thinking about a videogame with studio ghibli artwork, even something this small, has me SCREAMING
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a public utility ruefully praise someone for
property damage….
I mean, you couldn’t plan it if you tried, so it’s a genuine accident. And also a freaky one - like throwing a coin and it landing on its side.

okay but the best part is down in front where she put the Jojo heads on her doll’s torsos. Crazy Diamond looks amazing

So long 3DS c:
I wanted to post this because I thought it was sweet, but I think it’s also a good reminder to allies and also fellow lgbt members that people seeing you is important and for lgbt+ people when you are ready to come out, if you ever are (if you aren’t that’s also okay, and you should only come out if you are ready), it can make a world of difference to other people and you are doing something good!
Also I think it’s important to remember, amongst the discourse and the horrible things that happen in the world, we have allies and we have each other ✨

ik tumblr is cringe or whatever but i really do feel like my blog is my own little house and it’s incredibly comforting to be here
There’s a reason a sewing kit includes scissors, a wood shop has a saw, and a kitchen is full of knives. In order to build something, to create something on purpose, you have to be prepared to cut away what’s extra. A bolt of cloth does not a blanket make, a piece of wood a shelf, nor a loaf of bread a sandwich. When you snip off frayed bits of string, cut the wood into shape, or slice the end off a loaf of bread you are creating, with the act of removal, something closer to what you desire.
Now let’s say you’re not sewing a blanket, you’re not building a shelf, not making a sandwich. Let’s say you’re crafting a life in which you are happy. You will end up removing things. You’ll leave partners, stop talking to family members, let go of friends. You’ll move apartments, lose jobs, change wardrobes. And you will feel their absence. You’ll look at the scraps of cloth, the odd angles of wood, the stale end of the loaf. But that cloth couldn’t keep you warm and that tiny corner of wood can’t store books. You wouldn’t be full from that little bit of bread or happy with that person. In the art of creating there is the act of removal and it is essential.
Stretching the metaphor further: my sewing kit includes a seam ripper, and my hammer has a claw to pry out nails. I have made decisions that looked done, looked final, and realized they were wrong (for me), so I ripped them back, pried them out, and tried again.
Here it is folks:
My definitive ranking of my least favorite bodies of water! These are ranked from least to most scary (1/10 is okay, 10/10 gives me nightmares). I’m sorry this post is long, I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this.
The Great Blue Hole, Belize
I’ve been here! I have snorkeled over this thing! It is terrifying! The water around the hole is so shallow you can’t even swim over the coral without bumping it, and then there’s a little slope down, and then it just fucking drops off into the abyss! When you’re over the hole the water temperature drops like 10 degrees and it’s midnight blue even when you’re right by the surface. Anyway. The Great Blue Hole is a massive underwater cave, and its roughly 410 feet deep. Overall, it’s a relatively safe area to swim. It’s a popular tourist attraction and recreational divers can even go down and explore some of the caves. People do die at the Blue Hole, but it is generally from a lack of diving experience rather than anything sinister going on down in the depths. My rating for this one is 1/10 because I’ve been here and although it’s kinda freaky it’s really not that bad.
Lake Baikal, Russia
When I want to give myself a scare I look at the depth diagram of this lake. It’s so deep because it’s not a regular lake, it’s a Rift Valley, A massive crack in the earth’s crust where the continental plates are pulling apart. It’s over 5,000 feet deep and contains one-fifth of all freshwater on Earth. Luckily, its not any more deadly than a normal lake. It just happens to be very, very, freakishly deep. My rating for this lake is a 2/10 because I really hate looking at the depth charts but just looking at the lake itself isn’t that scary.
Jacob’s Well, Texas
This “well” is actually the opening to an underwater cave system. It’s roughly 120 feet deep, surrounded by very shallow water. This area is safe to swim in, but diving into the well can be deadly. The cave system below has false exits and narrow passages, resulting in multiple divers getting trapped and dying. My rating is a 3/10, because although I hate seeing that drop into the abyss it’s a pretty safe place to swim as long as you don’t go down into the cave (which I sure as shit won’t).
The Devil’s Kettle, Minnesota
This is an area in the Brule River where half the river just disappears. It literally falls into a hole and is never seen again. Scientists have dropped in dye, ping pong balls, and other things to try and figure out where it goes, and the things they drop in never resurface. Rating is 4/10 because Sometimes I worry I’m going to fall into it.
Flathead Lake, Montana
Everyone has probably seen this picture accompanied by a description about how this lake is actually hundreds of feet deep but just looks shallow because the water is so clear. If that were the case, this would definitely rank higher, but that claim is mostly bull. Look at the shadow of the raft. If it were hundreds of feet deep, the shadow would look like a tiny speck. Flathead lake does get very deep, but the spot the picture was taken in is fairly shallow. You can’t see the bottom in the deep parts. However, having freakishly clear water means you can see exactly where the sandy bottom drops off into blackness, so this still ranks a 5/10.
The Lower Congo River, multiple countries
Most of the Congo is a pretty normal, if large, River. In the lower section of it, however, lurks a disturbing surprise: massive underwater canyons that plunge down to 720 feet. The fish that live down there resemble cave fish, having no color, no eyes, and special sensory organs to find their way in the dark. These canyons are so sheer that they create massive rapids, wild currents and vortexes that can very easily kill you if you fall in. A solid 6/10, would not go there.
Little Crater Lake, Oregon
On first glance this lake doesn’t look too scary. It ranks this high because I really don’t like the sheer drop off and how clear it is (because it shows you exactly how deep it goes). This lake is about 100 feet across and 45 feet deep, and I strongly feel that this is too deep for such a small lake. Also, the water is freezing, and if you fall into the lake your muscles will seize up and you’ll sink and drown. I don’t like that either. 7/10.
Grand Turk 7,000 ft drop off
No. 8/10. I hate it.
Gulf of Corryvreckan, Scotland
Due to a quirk in the sea floor, there is a permanent whirlpool here. This isn’t one of those things that looks scary but actually won’t hurt you, either. It absolutely will suck you down if you get too close. Scientists threw a mannequin with a depth gauge into it and when it was recovered the gauge showed it went down to over 600 feet. If you fall into this whirlpool you will die. 9/10 because this seems like something that should only be in movies.
The Bolton Strid, England
This looks like an adorable little creek in the English countryside but it’s not. Its really not. Statistically speaking, this is the most deadly body of water in the world. It has a 100% mortality rate. There is no recorded case of anyone falling into this river and coming out alive. This is because, a little ways upstream, this isn’t a cute little creek. It’s the River Wharfe, a river approximately 30 feet wide. This river is forced through a tiny crack in the earth, essentially turning it on its side. Now, instead of being 30 feet wide and 6 feet deep, it’s 6 feet wide and 30 feet deep (estimated, because no one actually knows how deep the Strid is). The currents are deadly fast. The banks are extremely undercut and the river has created caves, tunnels and holes for things (like bodies) to get trapped in. The innocent appearance of the Strid makes this place a death trap, because people assume it’s only knee-deep and step in to never be seen again. I hate this river. I have nightmares about it. I will never go to England just because I don’t want to be in the same country as this people-swallowing stream. 10/10, I live in constant fear of this place.
Honorable mention: The Quarry, Pennsylvania
I don’t know if that’s it’s actual name. This lake gets an honorable mention not because it’s particularly deep or dangerous, but it’s where I almost drowned during a scuba diving accident.
1. this is a fabulous post and i'm gonna nab one of these sites as inspiration for my sedimentary geology final essay
2. the devil's kettle actually has a plausible explanation! hydrologists have found that the water volume above and below the falls is about the same, so the half that seems to disappear actually rejoins the stream almost immediately.
the reason that items tossed in the kettle don't reappear is that the kettle itself is full of massively destructive recirculating currents, so the objects are smashed to bits by the time they emerge downstream. which is still frightening for sure!!

my idea of wealth has changed. when i was little i’d dream about living in a giant mansion with like a tennis court and a bowling alley and an indoor swimming pool and all other sorts of sports things i’d never use. now when i fantasize i’m like, “maybe someday i’ll be able to rent a one bedroom apartment and live there alone.”
