Me looking down at my belly like “Dude, why you so bloated?” . Yes I get the dreaded bloat too, but rather than give you tips on how to prevent it (as I feel every 1/10 fitness posts on here cover that anyways!) I’m going to tell you what I enjoy doing when this happens to me.... . Get ready for the weird 🙌🏻 . So sometimes, I just eat the stuff that sends my body on that road of expansion, take: lentils....my body hates it. And as soon as I eat the buggers I become a moose 🙌🏻 . Last time this happened I was in London, I thought “fuck it, I’m having the god damn lentils” and then, instant regret... and instead of doing the classic ‘suck it in until your insides are about to collapse on itself’ I decided to do a little experiment. . I let it go, all the way..... I tucked in my top at the back and rested my hand on it. Voila...I’m pregnant. . And I decided to see if this would mean people would give up their seats on the tube (it was rush hour and I pretty much was experiencing pregnancy pains anyways) plus I wanted to see how morally corrupt London had become... . First two stops, nothing....seems pregnant ladies aren’t priority around Oxford Circus! But it got to the next stop, a guy got on...he sat down and looked at me. I gave him this sorry look and he clicked and offered me his seat 🙌🏻 I took it, thanked him and then.....he winked furiously at me and said “Any time”. . Who winks at a pregnant lady?! . Surely this is a solid sign to say, this gal is in duff town and most definitely taken?! . Pulled pork anyone? 🙌🏻 . This does have some cheeky quinoa and black eyed bean salsa under the masses of lushness 👌🏻 One thing I get asked a lot as a female trainer is: “How many calories do you eat a day?” . Truthfully, I don’t count EVER! But the last time I did it rounded to a round 2500 calories a day (yes I’m a food addict!) and this sometimes surprises people because it’s a lot and we generally believe that if you eat a lot you can’t be slim at the same time... . You totally can 👌🏻 . If you’re training a lot it’s get to a point where more food actually benefits you, you reach this golden amount where you’re feeding you’re body enough to make fantastic progress but also not enough to gain fat (magical I know!) and all it takes is experimenting... because this amount is different for everyone ☝🏻 . So ladies, don’t be afraid to eat more than you’re used to. After a few weeks you may find that it makes you stronger, leaner and happier than before. TRANSFORMATION 🙌🏻 . So some of you might look at these two photos and think “There’s not much difference” and I get that....but for me, I’ve changed a lot! 🙌🏻 The first picture is me 3 yrs ago, and I was a cardio addict! I ran 3 miles a day and did a fitness DVD in my room afterwards (which was also cardio) I had never lifted a weight over 5kg and I ate around 1500 calories and was 9st (at 5ft 9 that wasn’t good) 👎🏻 . At the time all I cared about was being thin, and I punished myself to get there. Restricting and over-exercising was a way of life, but I was never happy with the results. What I hadn’t even thought about was muscle mass, in the first photo I haven’t got any....my arms are tiny, my legs, everything 👎🏻 But I still didn’t think of this at the time, I thought all of this would come with just ‘being fit’. Something was going wrong somewhere... . Two years ago I started a weights class at the gym to try something different and I loved it! But I was also getting more hungry. So I decided to up my food too in order to keep up (and this was scary at the time!) ☝🏻 . I then began lifting on my own, and this is when it really took off! Instead of caring about how I looked I got more interested in what my body could do 👌🏻 And the stronger I was getting the hungrier I was so I kept increasing my food, but this wasn’t scary anymore.... because it was showing benefits in the gym 💪🏻 . 3yrs on and I’m now almost 11st and happier than I’ve ever been with my body. I eat 2500 cals a day and I’m in the best shape of my life 🙌🏻 I’ve now got the results I wanted 3yrs ago, but I went about it the entire wrong way back then. If I’d told old self “You can get the body you want by eating twice as much and exercising less” I would of not believed me. 👎🏻 . Even if I don’t look that different in these photos, what’s changed the most is my mindset. Food is no longer the enemy, I’ve realised that weight gain can be good and most of all I’ve learnt to not care as much about how I look. If you concentrate on how you feel, it is lot more rewarding. I’ve got a secret... . Well, I say secret. It’s more like I’ve got a tip for you 🙌🏻 So if you’re a regular gym goer you’ll know that you’ll get the odd ache and pain sometimes. It’ll be a niggle that bugs you for months and you’re just like “For god sake go away!” After a while... . So even though I can’t do my Sports Massage on you to help, this guy knows a hell of a lot that you can do at home 👌🏻 He’s @joetherapy and myself and Megan use his videos a lot to stretch areas that are bugging us or to sort out those annoying imbalances 💪🏻 . Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday without a mis-match dinner 👌🏻 . Back when Sam had hair! . Do you ever look back on old photos on Instagram or Facebook and then you get sucked into this journey into your past? So if anyone is feeling blue this January take a look at this little guy and hopefully he’ll make you laugh 🙌🏻 he’s such an angry bear... . It’s always a tough time at the beginning of the year, Christmas is over and all that build up of excitement is gone in a day 👎🏻 And you feel as if there’s nothing to look forward to... . But this is totally normal 🙌🏻 What I tend to do in January is set tiny little goals every week, that I have to complete before it’s over. This gives me something to work towards and do, for example this week is to ‘complete 7 days of meditation’. But next week is going to be ‘do something outdoors that you’ve never done before’ and so on and so on... . When I map my month out like that it really gets me out of the rut, so give it a go. Okay I’ve decided what my New Years Resolution will be 🙌🏻 (thank god, it’s only taken me a few days more than everyone else) . I’m going to start meditating 👌🏻 . Reason being is that I’ve always been a ‘worrier’ ever since I was a kid I just get anxiety about absolutely everything. I’m one of these ‘always expect the worst’ types and it’s draining sometimes... . I spoke to some friends about it and one suggested I start meditating, he does it for hours sometimes and he said it’s amazing for clearing your head and really relaxing 👌🏻 Does anyone else meditate? If so what’s your experience? . I’m a totally beginner so I downloaded @headspace to get me started, and so far I’m really impressed! It gives you 10 days of meditation with someone talking you through it and it feels amazing 🙌🏻 . It’s New Years Eve 🙌🏻 And its a time to look back on your year and remember the ups, the downs and everything you’ve learnt on the way... . For us the biggest lesson was: To get out of your own way 🙌🏻 Too many people give up on their dreams or don’t even start pursuing them because they don’t have faith in themselves 👎🏻 We were the same, and one day over a year ago we decided we wanted to just go for it! .
