I didn't know that they were making another Camp Rock - I thought that was something that was well and truly left in the past, so consider me shocked when I heard someone talking about it on TikTok. How did it feel stepping back into the role? @nicholasjoncs
Yeah, a little nostalgia bait never hurt anyone, right? It's been pretty great. I don't think any of us expected people to still have so much love for it all these years later. It sort of felt like opening a time capsule. We all came back as different people, with a lot more life experience under our belts, and I think that gives it a different kind of heart than it had the first time around. I had a lot more fun than I expected. Will you be tuning in?
That's fair - not many people know my middle name but for the record, its Chase. Well I didn't want to admit it but I deleted my search history after I found out your name - I can't have the FBI agent watching me know I was googling you so I deleted the search and typed in 'cats doing stupid things' instead. Despite what people think, I do watch television and am attune to pop culture references. I'm a millenial, even if my body feels like a boomer. Is that right? Don't make me ask for an album of lullabies too because I will! The first one in existence and my kiddo is the lucky recipent? If people didn't hate me before they will now!
Yeah, I know now and I won't forget it. You care about the FBI knowing you googled me, but not cats doing stupid things? I'd say that's a weird priority system, Lizzie. You've offended me. See, we're so different 'cause I'm a millenial but my body feels like a Gen-Z. Of course I can, now you've said it I'm basically contractually obliged to deliver an entire debut album for this child before it even learns to blink properly. First-ever fully original lullaby project, exclusive rights to your kid. The baby will have impeccable taste from day one. Nah, they won't hate you. Most of my fans are becoming parents, they will thank you, even if it's not made for them.
joe: okay, greedy. now you get nothing. joe:
joe: you're not off the hook until august. i know where you live. joe: when you say things like 'offensively sneaky', it makes thing border on creepy.. which is something i can 100% confirm that you are. joe: oh sweet, nicholas. sure you can be.
nick:
nick: what if i move out? i'll only give mom and dad my new address and specifically tell them not to give it to you. nick: i'm creepy??? that's rich coming from you. nick: is that sarcasm i hear?
emily: i keep being told how well it is doing ... now! and it makes me so sad because if we had this hype a few months back, maybe we would be seeing more of jane. let's hope it does and we can step into her shoes again. emily: you did the right thing. i know it probably didn't feel like it at the time, but the break done everyone so well, you all got to do some fun stuff and then came back stronger than ever? i am so here for it.
nick: i wish that had been the case. she deserved all the love, all of you did! if that call ever comes offering it back to you, though, i expect to hear about it immediately. nick: yeah, looking back now, i think it was the right thing too. at the time it didn't feel great because it was all we'd known for so long, but i think we all needed the chance to grow a little on our own. we got to figure out who we were outside of the band, and when we came back together, it felt like a choice rather than an obligation. i don't think we'd be where we are now if we hadn't taken that break... so my brothers should thank ME. nick: enough of the emotional reflection! what's new with you? give me the full update.
exactly! i'm always thinking about how my group started to where we are now and it just fills me with so much pride that we kept going no matter what. yes and i can imagine that it feels strange at times especially with everything that has happened in your life. the cultural moment helped a lot and it definitely left an impact easily. plus people who liked your music then have definitely enjoyed seeing it evolve into what it is now. i couldn't agree more and it might not have the same impact it did. it is. started when i was 13 and was a trainee for so long before each member of stray kids came into my life. i wouldn't change a thing and look forward to many more years.
Can't help but reminisce those times, can we? There's something about looking back on it all that makes you realise how much of it was timing, circumstance, and just being in the right place at the right moment, even if it didn't feel like that at the time. I get what you mean about pride, I feel the same when I look at everything we've been through. I love that you wouldn't change a thing, I definitely wouldn't either. I think even splitting the band was the right thing for us to do at the time, for us to be where we are now. People forget how much timing shapes how music is received, how it lands differently depending on what's going on in the world, but the fact it still connects with people now in a different way just shows it's grown beyond that moment too. If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice from everything you know now, what do you think you'd say?
of course you'd say that, mr nice guy. when you think about it, all that is kind of you and kevin's fault. i mean you left him alone enough at some point for it to get this deep. the chronically online thing at least brings more good than bad in most cases from what i've seen. they lose it if we like each other's posts on social media and then the picture together at my show was another level. i genuinely don't think they'd survived an actual reunion. you know, i have two shows left in texas so wouldn't you think if there was a reunion, that would be the best place for it? not saying it's happening but if it did... you see the vision? i saw the podcast and honestly, surprised it took this long. you three were practically made for a podcast. maybe i'll put it into my rotation. i'll need something new to listen to soon enough. did she? that's amazing. you guys know how to perfectly play to crowds so i'm sure that had them going wild. now you're in vegas, right? really starting to wonder if there's more than just one of you all with how much you've got going on. if that theory's proven true, i'm going to be a little offended that one of your many clones didn't make time for in napa. i guess maybe i'm to blame on that, too, but time flies. do love how you said you're not that evil. big moment acknowledging that there is at least a little bit of evil in there. it's not like i didn't deserve a block or two back in the day. you were the bigger person and just didn't do it.
Mr. Nice Guy! Love that new nickname of mine. I'll make sure to tell Kevin you said all of this is our fault. Should we just burn his phone altogether? Maybe ban him from every store where he could buy a new one too? He's basically a child trapped in a grown man'd body. It has! Apparently people really enjoy watching a bunch of thirty-somethings pretending we're still young and cool. I can't even imagine what it would've been like in our era. The most we could do back then was reply to each other on Twitter or throw out vague little subtweets that had everyone refreshing the timeline waiting for the next crumb. I'm kinda bummed those last shows in Texas didn't end up being the big moment for you two, though. That would've been the perfect setting for it. You should've brought out Barney the Dinosaur too while you were at it, now that would've gone down in history. You should hire me as your PR manager because I'd come up with the best ideas imaginable⦠and I swear recreating the Bounce music video is only slightly part of the plan. You should definitely tune in. I can guarantee you'll at least be entertained, and if you ever want to come on an episode yourself, just say the word. I genuinely think if people ever saw you and me interacting face-to-face for more than five minutes, they would completely lose it. How are you feeling now the tour's wrapped, by the way? All the time in the world now. I don't have clones, although if someone offered me the chance to clone myself, I'd probably take it at this point. Thank you for not putting all the blame on me this time. It takes two to tango, and you absolutely could've come and hung out with me yourself. Isn't there a little bit of evil in all of us? I probably deserved that block more than you did anyway. They have to do something really catastrophic for me to actually bother blocking someone. You made the right call.
It is. It definitely makes it more fun and couldn't do this as a job without a bit of teasing in some way. Yes, those reactions are my favorite easily. I love them picking up on every little thing to piece everything together. Oh, the theories are great. I love only speaking in Korean for awhile and then I'll randomly start speaking a lot of English so then the fans will go wild. They like saying that I'm secretly fluent which I've never confirmed or denied at all. Of course. We'll be careful. Can't have rumors like that going around at all. It really is. I love when they get excited about teaser images or just by seeing little things we might show them. Playing into it just makes it more fun. I feel if we posed for a photo together, the fans would be making all the theories.
Yeah, I completely get that and I think it's actually one of the most fun parts of all of this too, being able to tease things just enough to keep people guessing without ever really giving too much away. So you're a fluent English speaker, or? From what I'm hearing, you are. But you could be tricking me. Have fans come up to you and say they're learning Korean because of you? To know what you're saying in interviews and such? I'd love to learn more languages, though, I can't fool only knowing English. Playing into it a bit just makes it even more enjoyable for everyone involved, sometimes us more than the fans themselves, though! Oh, both our fandoms would immediately go nuts.
you're definitely doing something to get his high and mighty attention. i'd actually never heard of him before i stumbled across your song, but he does seem talented. though i'll always stan you as the more gifted one. but seriously, i don't think i've ever needed to praise the lord more since when i heard that man singing "our god is an awesome god," because.. i may or may not have had that on repeat a few years back. i do, actually. i even had a record deal with sony before acting started pulling me in every direction. performing with you would be a dream, though.
Well, now you've heard of him I hope you start listening to more of his stuff, only if you're into it of course, but you'd be missing out on a truly incredible artist otherwise. The "more gifted one"? I'll absolutely take that, I mean, I'm not going to argue with a compliment like that, I'd be stupid to. To not be particularly religious, you do like the occasional religious song, don't you? Well, with The Author it's only two songs, but that's already more than someone who's "not religious" would usually listen to, right? I'm joking. We can like all kinds of genres. And wait, really? Why did that deal end up falling through in the first place? Now I'm even more convinced I'd love to have you on stage with me!
Not yet, but they do love trying their luck with how early they can get away with watching festive movies. We just can't help ourselves! It's a sign that you get on well, though, that you're even willing to be in the same room as your siblings still, and almost crave that banter with them. Get all the childishness out with them so it doesn't come out elsewhere in your life.
How early is too early for you? My mum will tell you I used to watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas in August, but for the record, the reason was just that seeing all the snow on screen made me feel a bit cooler in the middle of summer, so I fully stand by that logic. We do get on well! We really bring out the inner child in each other, we do know we're adults, but there are just moments where you slip straight back into sibling mayhem and you're arguing over the most ridiculous things like you're kids again, and I kind of think that's healthy in its own weird way.
Nick Jonas at the Power Ballad premiere in New York City.
niall: i've seen worse so no way i was going to give you much shit. i think it's safe to say you're making a lot of people's holiday rotations from here on out. really? you do have a lot going on seemingly endlessly. damn, demanding, jonas. very offended i've never heard this attempt at an irish accent, too. maybe you need to quit stalling and set yourself up for getting made fun of a little... potentially. niall: get in your head? i would never. i always play fair and honest.
nick: would you say it's up there with the grinch or elf??? we hope so. i've got a lot going on, but i'll play the modesty card and say i have no idea how i manage it. plus, there are people with way more on their plate than me, can't complain, at least i can kind of juggle things in my tight schedule, which is no small thing. niall, that would offend you EVEN more if possible⦠i'm not ready for an actual irish to hear my awful irish accent. definitely not prepared to get made fun of, man. nick: fair and honest?? from you?? that's adorable, niall. you're a player, but a fair one??? not so much.
ari: trust me, i know they're huge. i'm so incredibly honored to be the next one up to try that role so hoping to do it justice, especially since i know how big being on the west end is. but i'm excited for it and having jonny there makes it so much better. ari: you're so rude. i really am calling your bluff big time on this. ari: i saw the podcast news. congratulations. if anyone out there deserves one, it's you three. i'll be waiting patiently for my invite to be a guest. i hope you're right but it also feels about a million years away from releasing so the wait's on. can't wait to hear what you think when it finally does come.
nick: you'll definitely do it justice, ari. and i don't say that lightly. if anyone's got it in them to pull it off, it's you. another job that guy took from me⦠kidding kidding. i could've never been george, though, or fiyero. i'm already dying to see you two on stage, save me a couple of tickets! nick: i'm not?? it's payback⦠you had it coming and you'll see it! nick: thank you! honestly that means a lot. don't worry, your invite is already being drafted in extremely fancy handwriting somewhere in a very serious office environment (definitely not me scribbling it on a napkin). the views are gonna skyrocket with you on it! i just saw it's coming out in november⦠i'm gonna have to wait too long, hope it'll be worth it!
joe: award??? nah...
joe: it's written in the fine print of every contract you signed including the one you signed the day you were born that you have to do tiktoks with me forever. non-negotiable. joe: you're not sneaky enough for an elaborate scheme so i take back the small bit of worry i had. joe: menaces can be fun so no.. obviously only monster fits.
nick: in n out won't doβ¦ nick: i don't recall signing any contract BUT i'm glad we won't be doing any more tiktoks until august 'causeβ¦
nick: i'm very sneaky. like, offensively sneaky. you just don't see it happening until it's already happened and by then it's too late. nick: i can be fun!!! excuse you.
SHAWN: i clearly chose the wrong jonas brother to love. why didn't i go for joe or kevin? why did i choose you? it's that face that keeps making me make complicated decisions. SHAWN: ...........where u at.
NICK: "the wrong jonas brother" is crazy work when you are, unfortunately for you, already deeply attached to the right jonas brother. joe and kevin never stood a chance, baby. i always knew this face would come in handy someday. NICK: β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦lincoln, california. come kiss me???
i don't know what joseph has or has not told you, but no matter what he says, always know that you're my favorite brother of all of the jonases and that i love you so much. @nicholasjoncs
So, in the very hypothetical situation where he claimed you told him he's your favorite Jonas and that you love him more, I should probably assume he's lying through his teeth, right? I love you too but if you did told him that, I may have no choice but to move on and find another Daisy to love more. Maybe Daisy Edgar-Jones, even if she has absolutely no idea who I am. Or honestly, at that point, maybe even Daisy Duck.
Nicholas 'I had to google your middle name because I forgot what it was' Jerry Jonas! Where the hell have you been, loca?! It's been 84 years and I'm still waiting patiently for you to come visit. The baby is demanding a new song and/or an album asap so you know, you have to get on that because you only have about 8 months left. @nicholasjoncs
If I wanted to use your middle name, I'd probably have to Google it too, so no bad blood whatsoever. I feel honoured now, I officially form part of your Google search history, and that's not the worst thing in the world, is it? And wait, hold on a second, Jacob Black and Rose Dawson! Those are elite fictional crush references right there. What you don't know is that I can write a song faster than the blink of an eye, so by the time that child arrives, they'll probably already have ten different songs and a whole album ready to soundtrack their first few days of life.
