At the risk of poking a bear, a lot of people sure are real mad about a play that they have not seen because they imagine its contents contradict their elaborate headcanons about characters and situations we knew very little about up until now.

Being a fan of a side character in Ace Attorney is such a harrowing experience. You want them to come back in a new case but you already know Capcom took them out back and shot them and the next witness is going to be a drunk cowgirl named Sawda Merder followed by Wendy Oldbag on life support

I want to be very clear: I did not schedule this to post on Easter weekend.

I want to be very clear: I stumbled upon this on Easter weekend. It’s a miracle.

there’s a convo going on on twt about how there’s a kind of growing culture of bullying going on in fandom spaces since the pandemic and tbh I really think that’s giving covid too much credit lol. imo it’s the platform: it’s twt. i’ve been in fandom spaces since 2008 and there has always been bullying but i agree it’s getting much worse now and i think that uptick correlates almost exactly w twt becoming the fandom platform of choice. it’s a platform that discourages thoughtful output while encouraging quick dunks and ratios and the algorithm is constantly pushing people to look at content they dislike that they would’ve had to actively seek out elsewhere. ive said all this before ofc but it’s just kind of dumb that people are saying it’s bc ‘the normies invaded fandom w the pandemic’ like yes exponential growth will always make inherent problems bigger but the STYLE of bullying that takes place now is pretty unique to twt
like i think if outrage culture has taught us anything it’s that ppl like to be annoyed a little bit. they like to feel righteously angry sometimes, especially in a low stakes setting like fandom. but on tumblr and LJ, you kind of have to explain what YOU were doing in the tags of that thing you don’t like or on the blog of the person you hate whereas on twt that content is actively pushed beneath your nose and creates a sense of constant discord that constantly needs to be addressed and no one needs to explain why a larger percentage of their posts are oriented around fighting the takes the don’t like than sharing the ones they do

I'm somewhat surprised by the negative reaction to the change made to the end of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Every time I get to the end of The Hedge Knight I think "this seems like such an obvious lie." Pretty sure the first time a read it I thought it was obvious setup for a future plot point where we find out Egg lied, and was surprised the read the next story and find out that wasn't case.
I'm a book purist about most things most of the time, but this doesn't even rate on the scale of adaptation changes in the show I didn't like. I was smiling as soon as the scene started because I knew what was about to happen. I quite liked it.
