How do people decide birthdays for their characters? /genq I only did that with one character (who then got split into two) because it was lore relevant, but I'm filling out a template for Rinri to flesh him out a bit and I have no idea where to begin with that. Like it's probably not important? But If it wasn't important then why would it be in a writer's template?

For some reason- I really like star signs (zodiac signs) I don't get into it religiously, but mostly for fun because I like space and star signs are fun as like a aesthetic- if that even makes sense-

Anyways- to the point- I like looking at the twelve different star signs and the characteristics that are generally associated with them. I pick whichever fits/represents my character the most then I pick a birthday from the zodiac's dates.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Taurus (Apr 20 – May 20)

Gemini (May 21 – Jun 21)

Cancer (Jun 22 – Jul 22)

Leo (Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Virgo (Aug 23 – Sep 22)

Libra (Sep 23 – Oct 23)

Scorpio (Oct 24 – Nov 21)

Sagittarius (Nov 22 – Dec 21)

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 18)

Pisces (Feb 19 – Mar 20)

I like doing it like this because it narrows the possible dates down by a lot and sometimes it can help me flush out a character's personality a little more.

After that I basically just choose whatever date/number that just feels right for the character ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
