“Eww don’t ship them ! They’re just friends/ they hate each other/ they barely have any interaction/they never even met/they’re not from the same series !”
Pussy. Back in my days, we shipped Elsa and Jack Frost to hell and back because they were both ice themed.
Congratulations! You are the new sidekick to a DC or Marvel superhero. Spin the wheel to determine who your mentor is. (NO RE-SPINS)
Assume you will have a similar superpower or will learn a similar skill set (for the non-powered heroes) as your mentor or one of your mentor's canon sidekicks (dealer's choice) so you aren't completely screwed.
Are you fucked?
Not at all! I think they'd be a great mentor actually
Probably not but certain things might be a bit difficult
I'm not sure. Maybe. Depends on a few things.
Probably but I might be able to succeed despite my mentor
I'm so fucked
This mentor has canonically had a sidekick die so I'm probably super fucked
I would survive but I'd hate working with this mentor so fucking much
This mentor is fine as a person but they should never be a mentor so I'm fucked
I don't know enough about this person to make a judgement
first incidence of good writing advice i've seen in 10+ years on this platform and it's in the notes of a mustelid wreaking absolute havoc in a german grocery store
Sometimes I hyperfocus so hard on something, I forget I’m a person until someone interacts with me. I feel like some wild animal seeing a human being for the first time. I’m like “oh yeah I’m supposed to speak and stuff”

I'm Anas Basil, a recent high school graduate with dreams of pursuing a degree in e-business management and building a career. However, due to my family's financial hardships, I enrolled at Khan Younis Training College (KYTC), affiliated with UNRWA. Sadly, the war has turned the college, once a beacon of hope and education, into a shelter for displaced families, stripping it of its educational purpose.
I completed high school with a 93% average, filled with excitement about continuing my education and securing a job to support my family. But like so many others, the war has shattered those dreams.
My younger brother, Ahmad, is 14 years old and currently in the third grade of preparatory school. We’ve always called him "Doctor of the Future" because of his intelligence and natural talent in mathematics. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing war, he has been deprived of schooling for the second consecutive year. In addition to his academic abilities, Ahmad has a passion for football and used to win tournaments.
Our Life in Displacement: The war forced our family to flee to Rafah, where we lived in a tent for several months. Each day, my brother and I would wake up to fetch water, gather wood, and light a fire to prepare food. Survival became our daily task, but we never gave up hope. The conflict affected us deeply, but it did not extinguish our dreams of education and a better future.
🚀 How Your Donation will Help us:
We are seeking €29,000 to help Ahmed and me leave Gaza, continue our education. More importantly, it will allow us to support our family, who have been deeply affected by the harsh conditions and skyrocketing costs of living due to the ongoing war in Gaza.
We've outlined how your donations will make this possible. You can find all the details in the campaign link below.
👉 Donation link: 🔗https://gofund.me/32e5e95e
Your contribution will not only help us escape the war-torn reality we live in but also give us the opportunity to rebuild our futures.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to our goal.
With deepest gratitude,
Anas & Ahmed

Read it once in your life, and never regret it. ✋✅
Do you feel bored of the posts asking for help from Gaza? You’re right, but imagine our situation as we live this war day after day for 13 months. Do you think we’re tired too?!!
Asking for help is not easy; it’s very embarrassing, especially for a family that used to live a decent life. My husband and I completed our university education with distinction, worked in respectable jobs, and were used to helping others, not asking for help. But the war has turned our lives into a nightmare; we lost our home, our sources of income, and even our ability to provide the simplest of needs.
I'm Hanan. For the past 13 months, we have been struggling to get healthy food and medicine for my child, whose weak body was attacked by infection, and for my elderly mother-in-law, who fell into a coma for several days and almost lost her life due to anemia caused by our inability to provide healthy food, as prices have risen more than 10 times. Now, we have run out of everything. While you are reading my message, my family and I are trying to survive amidst all kinds of suffering.
What was once a beautiful dream and reality has now become a nightmare. Starvation is one thing, but starving, freezing, and being forced to flee in the middle of the night when tanks suddenly arrive in your area, running for your life and your family’s life under fire, leaving behind everything you built over the years, and returning after 5 months of suffering in displacement and tents to find that your home, where you lived your happiest moments, is nothing but rubble, is something completely different! 💔😓
Can you feel my broken heart now? Can you imagine what I’m going through at this moment? Everything I am living now cannot be described with words, and every moment here is filled with pain and fear. We desperately need your help, as we live in hope of escaping Gaza to save our lives and live safely away from the explosions.
You might feel powerless to stop this genocide, but you can certainly save my family. We appeal to your compassionate hearts to help us escape this catastrophe, which the human mind cannot even fathom.
Please share our campaign with your family and friends. This will help us reach those who can help us directly. Be the reason to bring hope back to our hearts ♥️✨

I just reada really good fic but halfway through I realized "oh shit this is really familiar.... didn't I write something like this once?" And as I kept reading I kept predicting what happened next and the further I went the more convinced I was that they'd ripped off my story-
like, copied the ENTIRE plot and re-written it, just better than I had? The characters were more fleshed-out than mine were, and the POV was more interesting, and the pace made more sense- but it was MY STORY?
So close to the end I was like "holy shit.. do I message them? Ask if my story inspired theirs? Should I be angry? Flattered?" Cause their tags and description didn't mention me AT ALL, which, sure, it's fanfiction to begin with, but if you're using my work than at least credit me as inspo, right? Just to be courteous?
But I get to the end of the final chapter, and it's not finished, and I'm kind of disappointed cause I never finished my story and I was really immersed in their version now and had been looking forwards to seeing how they tied up my loose ends- so I scroll to the bottom to leave a comment, and.
It's MY URL.
IT WAS MY STORY THE WHOLE TIME.
THE ONE *I WROTE*.
In *2013*.
And FORGOT ABOUT
BECAUSE I WAS SO INSECURE ABOUT MY SLOPPY, SHALLOW, AMETEUR WRITING
And I'm just sitting here now staring into space thinking about every shitty story I've ever written now like
yo treasure planet was literally the best 2d disney film ever made like the setting? the colors? the flawless transition? the gorgeous world building? the three dimensional characters? a main character who’s never pressured to get into anything remotely close to romance? complex relationships? an antagonist who has layers to his character? the soundtrack? i could go the FUCK on,
it went beyond being another retelling of treasure island
in the book jims father was still present, this movie ADDED depth by turning silver into an adoptive father figure instead of just a surprise twist villain, thus adding far more weight to all subsequent interactions with him
Both these scenes had me in tears. That’s good Disney to you. And John Silver always was and remains my favorite character in the movie.
Silver is actually a really interesting character in the sense that though he’s presented as an antagonist, he doesn’t feel like a villain.
At the beginning of the journey we first meet Silver as he is playing the part of the ship’s cook. We are naturally immediately on edge, because Jim reminds us of the dying pirate’s words ‘beware of the cyborg’, and in movies there are no such things as coincidences. And for the first few minutes we know him, he seems to be living up to our suspicions. But he still doesn’t give us that prickle of true dislike that Scroop does, nor the awed fear of some semi-mythical evil that Captain Flint was framed with at the opening of the film. We watch and gush and glow with pride over how he and Jim grow close during the trip, when we should be nervously anticipating the inevitable betrayal. Why?
A couple of scenes after the meeting in the galley, there’s a twist. Jim is about to be beaten up by Scroop, but Silver steps in and afterwards berates the crew for jumping the gun and makes clear that he will personally make sure that Jim is kept too busy to be nosy. I believe that this scene is really important for Silver’s characterization. Let’s break it down a bit.
First, there’s the rescue itself. Yes, Silver himself makes it seem like it was just because he thought the crew were about to blow their cover, and to an extent that might be true. However, if the film creators had wanted Silver to be a true villain, they could’ve had Mr. Arrow step into the scene and diffuse the situation, and only then have Silver make himself known, possibly trying to gaslight the assault on Jim as merely old spacers hazing the new cabin boy. If the scene had been written like that, it would make Silver far more ominous, making him appear as though he was watching from sidelines the whole time as the other pirates taught Jim a lesson, without interfering.
Then we move under the deck, where the pirates’ plot is revealed to the viewer and we see Silver wave his sword around and bark orders, and he’s pretty genuinely terrifying in those moments. Then Jim pops up in the conversation, and Silver quickly reassures everyone that he’ll keep the cabin boy’s nose to the grinding stone so that he doesn’t have time to snoop. Again, if Silver was to be a truly terrifying antagonist, he could have told his crew he will threaten Jim into silence, or even wait for an opportunity and then stage an accident. Green cabin boys slipping over the side would hardly be unheard of.
John Silver can throw his weight around enough to make us buy him being a force to be reckoned with, but when we contrast the way he acts with how we would expect an evil character to act, a certain pattern emerges. He isn’t going out of his way to hurt anyone. In fact, he’s taking the annoyance of needing to watch over Jim at all times over having the boy silenced permanently. That’s a very deliberate non-villainous act. It can even be read as protective, considering what we’ve already seen from Scroop and a bunch of the other pirates.
The exact reason why Silver is drawn to Jim is enough to make a whole another speculative character meta post about, but the fact remains that Jim is an obvious crack in his facade, one that prevents us from fully buying the image of him as a villain. That is why we are rooting for their growing relationship.
John Silver not the kinda character who you’re all ga-ga over the moment he steps into the frame. He draws you in, like gravitational pull, with sheer force of personality. Like he did with a lonely, hurt, smart little boy.
We start with a slow pan down to Gotham as Oracle narrates
“Ask your average person who Gotham’s most famous citizen is, and you’ll get the same response every time: Bruce Wayne. Everybody’s heard of Bruce Wayne. You’ve probably heard his name a million times before. But there are some things that the average citizen doesn’t know about him. See, to the people of Gotham, Bruce Wayne is a rich kid who never grew up. They think he’s a buffoon, an airhead, a moron. But the truth is…”
*Batman bursts out of a window, screaming, on fire*
This is then followed by a series of clips from interviews with various Gotham citizens, all of whom give humorously ironic descriptions of Bruce Wayne’s idiocy:
“Bruce Wayne? I hear the guy gets through a super-car every month! Replaces every one, just like that!”
*Cut to shot of the Batmobile flipping end-over-end after slamming into one of Bane’s APCs*
“Wayne? Please! The guy would probably have accidentally killed himself years ago if he didn’t have that butler to babysit him!”
*Cut to Alfred physically restraining Bruce from going out to fight Scarecrow while having a broken arm, a concussion, and the flu,*
“I bet he throws away cash like it grows on trees!”
*Cut to Batman shouting “Hey, Lucius! Ask R&D to make some kryptonite/Nth metal alloy baterangs! Y’know, just in case!”
“I’m almost jealous. Super rich and he gets to hang out with gorgeous women across the world? Sign me up!”
*Cut to Bruce being slammed face first into a wall repeatedly by Lady Shiva.*
