Wild end of stroy pitch/headcannon idea for spy x family. I haven't read thr Manga, I probably misremember bit of lore, so please tell me when I'm wrong, but don't come at me.

Here's the background to the pitch:

Anya's brilliant right? Too young, no strong firmal education, still above water at Eden. Assuming rich people-prep school is good, she's going to thrive if she can just hold on long enough.

Westalis and Eastalia are clearly East/West Germany coded.

We don't know if Spy x Family will have a happy ending or what.

So the pitch:

Yor and Twilight don't figure out their secrets. Operation stix goes well, and the whole thing is in the "clean exit" phase. Twilight wants to pull Yor and Anya out, justifying it somehow. But Thorn Princess gets called in due to ripples from stix. She has to fake injury/death/comma something to "remover her from the picture" for a while. Yor obviously doesn't want to, but sees her country in chaos, suffering.

Twilight gets spooked. Thinks they cracked his identity and Yor got caught in an attack meant for him. Rationalizes it's too dangerous to take Anya. Anya's fully aware that he's "sacrificing" himself and his happiness and is upset. Either way, he fakes his own death, with healthy funds/support for Anya (probably his personal accounts). Anya is seen as a "tragic" orphan, and is allowed to stay in Eden.

Jump cut, the future. Anya has achieved a postion of importance in Eastalia. Trying to peacefully unite thr two countries (insert reason here). She's succeeds because when you're raised by Thron Princess, Twilight, and can read minds few things are really "dangerous" or insurmountable. Meanwhile, Twilight is now the head of WISE. Yuri the head of the SSS. Both quietly supporting Anya in their own ways. Till once day, unity day. WISE and the SSS are dissolved. Show of unity, peace, etc. Twilight's an old(ish) man now. He's cleaning out, unhappy, proud and relaxed all at once. Then he gets an odd message from ---- "Yor's not dead, find thr garden" or something like that. Anya dropped a hint, to him and Yuri. She's busy, but knows more than anyone about everything.

Move from there?

Y'know it's funny cuz loid is probably the safest man alive from the sss solely because of yuri. Like if Loid was ever brought in whoever's interviewing would just be like 'YURI YOU CAN'T BRING PEOPLE IN JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE HE MARRIED YOUR SISTER'

And theyd just yell at each other with Twilight like "wait...did Yuri's hatred of me invalidate me as a suspect???"

Here's a Batman/DC Comics head cannon pitch:

*Due to shifting timelines and the general haze that is time in general in comics, this could be true in some universes.

The reason so many criminals, especially in Gotham get labeled "crazy" and sent to an Asylum rather than to prison (or really to death, I mean jesus) is because of prior reforms and efforts by old heros. Here's the timeline pitch:

Pre-1920s: metas operated in various roles, rare, no formalized concept besides things like demi-gods.

1920s-30s: Superheros even become a thing. Today they'd be called anti-heros, as there were rarely qualms with killing. Government opposed them, but due to the social and material conditions of the time, so long as they weren't being Robin hood they were mostly unmolested. This solely filtered out a less violent, more order-centric superhero archtype.

-in industrialized societies, mostly America and Britian. Other countries tended to integrate metas more.

1940s: Metas join the war effort in mass. Heros and villains alike, precursor to groups like "the Suicide Squad". Heros and Villians on both sides (some being intentionally fed lies by the state to keep them on their side). End of the war saw a surge in post war super Heros intially.

1950s: mass super hero retirements, loss of social popularity. Between trauma episodes, post-war optimism, and just not being seen as cool, heros were began to be treated at best as relics and at worst as dangerous munitions left unattended.

1960s: Serious, dangerous villains put down brutally (by government, vigilante vetrans), a more comical breed taking their place. Matching is a rise of the (diminished) supply of heros to fight them. This is paired with a rise in awareness and recognition of mental illness. Movements for reforms to the justice program begin, backed by the heros of the time. Prior killings seen as brutal and unnecessary state action.

1970s: Movement gains traction, quietly backed by traditional crime groups and other parties. Initial attempts show success at reform, or gentle containment, near the end of the decade reforms are implemented formally to support this.

1980s: Campy villains become rare, violent villains not yet really making a comeback in a flashy or noticeable way. Aging heros begin to slowly retire, low social pressure for nee heros to take their place. Some metas find work with Government, others live normal lives. Near end of decade, long running government push to ban or control heros pushed through (partially in response to their long term support of social movements...), effectively banning Superheros.

1990s: Heros fall out of favor, institutions to handle the mentally unwell struggle and in some cases start to die out.

2000s: Mostly a continuation of the 90s, but 9/11 was a significant response from metas and heros. Even old 40s heros came back to help were they could. Huge jump in public relevance and approval. Many metas joined war in Afganistan/Iraq (with mixed feelings about it during and after). Depending on when you want your Batman/Superman to start operating, this decade may be it.

2010s: Most likely time for Superheros to "make a comeback". Probably starting with Batman/Superman. Legacy polices on crime, mental illness, metas, and government power should roughly form the shape that the comics usually have them start in.

Some random additional notes:

- Circuses probably employ metas in performances, extending their longevity by being cooler.

- Organized crime likely grew back after the 40s/50s in a more shadowy role. The time suppressed delaying their shift in ethics/style/methods as they are actively cultivating an image that ties them back to that original idea, rather tham having true continuity.

- 2000s era prime "re-do backstory" time period for Villains. Luthor being a mix of Madoff and Blackrock, Iraq war vetrans with PTSD, disillusioned people, etc.

Doesn't mean you have to like how they do things, but it hurts no one (besides possible themselves), so why shouldn't they be able to. If you want to preserve your culture or something, forcing others into yours isn't the way to do things.

Cuba did see some improvements, to be honest. But those initial improvements were all they've seen since.

Some will blame the US not trading with them. That absolutely did hurt them, to be sure, but not that much. Espeically considering the USSR buying their sugar we'll above market price.

The problem is socialism is a bit too focused on lifting thr bottom up, but doesn't really do a good job at raising the bar. Just meeting it.

Weiss = Ice Maiden of Kislev, maybe even Tzarina Katarin (ice Princess theme, snow magic, emotionally distant (at first)).

Yang = Dragon-blooded something or another, maybe bright mage?

It's a work in progress, but I think it's forming.

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Don't pretend John-S117 isn't ddeply emotionally dependent on Cortana, who for all intents and purposes is his wife, but also the clone of his primary mother figure, who kidnapped him when he was 6.

The fact he's so reasonably mentally healthy is pretty incredible really. Any story about him, any individual mission would probably qualify as a tramatic backstory for other characters.
