I wonder what that conversation between Matt and Owen was like. I know I'm the guy who wrote the story but I didn't write that scene and now I'm wondering about it. It's probably just Matt talking too fast and clumsily explaining that he's fucked up all week, that he loves Jay and he wants to be with him more than anything, that they are going to get married because he's wanted to marry Jay since before he even knew he wanted to kiss Jay. That kind of thing.

There is an alternate, parallel story going on here that tickles me which is that Owen is kind of the lead in a Hallmark romance movie. He's the big city boy, fresh off of a break up, going into the country to reconnect with an ex-boyfriend over the holidays. Ex-boyfriend is engaged but his fiance is a gold digging mooch with no job who doesn't get along with anyone. He's clearly the wrong choice.

Of course, if that story did play out and Matt dumped Jay for Owen, the sweetheart ending would've been soured by Matt being insane and also probably by Jay killing himself months later.

Sorry, Owen, but you're better off lol.
