Yeah…they didn’t burn the real Mona Lisa…because it’s a movie. Another thing is that paper might just look better than wood when it burns on film. Not only that, but it’s very realistic that miles would have obtained the real one. Rich people buy one of a kind, priceless art all the time, just because they believe they have that right.

Also, in the context of the film, it had to be the real Mona Lisa; Helen’s plan wouldn’t work if it turned out to be a fake. Miles would never always be mentioned in the same breath as the Mona Lisa if the real one didn’t burn.

I’m sorry if this makes people uncomfortable but in the Rian Johnson cinematic universe, the real Mona Lisa has been reduced to ashes.

it's actually insane that avatar is a franchise solely about the colonial genocide of a people and the takeaway, via everything james cameron & co. say in promo, is not supposed to be "genocide bad" or "colonialism bad" but simply "environmental harm bad." cannot think of a whiter pseudo activist message than telling a story to promote nature conservation wherein the destruction of the indigenous who call that environment home is completely secondary. not only was jimbo repulsed by the thought of centering real life indigenous people but he doesn't even consider his tribal cosplay oc's to be more than vehicles for celebrity activism

It’s a terrifying position to be in, having to rely on folks we don’t even know so that we can eat, stay together as a family, and have shelter over our heads, but that’s where we are. Last year, me, my partner, my child, and my now ex-partner relocated to the UK from the USA. One of the main reasons we did this was so that we could afford our extraordinary healthcare costs. I have ADHD, severe PTSD, frequent psychotic episodes that have been attributed to bipolar, schizoaffective disorder, or schizophrenia, diabetes, and chronic joint and limb pain. I cannot work. Lord, oh, Lord have I tried. So hard. So many times.

I am Black, fat, a dyke, and living in a country where I am not entitled to any government benefits because I am not a citizen. This was not an issue when I was supported by my partner, but the dissolution of our relationship means that my means of survival has been completely stripped away. I am at home everyday with our 2-year-old.

My current partner is a disabled Jewish trans woman who also cannot work, who is also at home daily with our 2-year-old. She is a British citizen and *does* receive benefits, but it’s not enough to support us by any stretch of the imagination and it’s very likely that soon she will not be able to receive those benefits.

To top it all off, we recently were forced to flee an abuser and spend 6 weeks homeless. For fear of what would happen to us with the Home Office were to become aware of our situation vis a vis immigration (again, neither my child or I or citizens), I cannot reveal that many specific details of our situation. But there it is. Our life is a catastrophic shit show. Please help and circulate if you can. I know not everyone’s able to, and I know so very many of us are in need, but we are afraid for our lives.
