Here's the Reporter and the Photographer! I shipped them before my production of Anything Goes started, but given that I'm 21 (I play the Reporter) and the actor that plays our Photographer is 13, it lowkey felt illegal to me. It's technically not, because I headcanon both these guys as adults as characters outside of my production, but given that I see myself and my scene partner a bit in these two, continuing to ship them romantically just felt weird to me. I don't quite know what their relationship is now, but they're definitely more than coworkers to me. I sort of imagine them as work buddies with a slight brother-like relationship.

Similarly, here's an aroace Reporter headcanon! I don't really have a set sexuality for him (or the Photographer) outside of just "queer", but like I said I kinda see myself in the Reporter and I'm aroace, so....even though I don't ship them I do imagine that the Reporter thought that he had a romantic crush on the Photographer before realizing his identity, similar to my own experience (keep in mind that I headcanon both the Reporter and Photographer as characters of their own as adults, I just don't ship them cause of the ages of their actors in my production, but the ages of the actors and the ages of the characters are still mostly separate). I imagine that the Reporter is the type of guy who just wants a story for his newspaper, he doesn't have time or desire for romance!

I personally don't headcanon the Purser as trans, but one of my castmates had that hc, and I liked it! A while back I drew the Purser with top surgery scars, and in the corner of the canvas I drew a 14 yo early transition Purser. I decided to draw that 14 yo early transition Purser again! I imagine that he was at least mildly dysphoric during this time, and like other characters from this musical I hc as trans, he probably had to make the transition from girl to boy in the most secretive and discreet way possible due to the time period. Idk how him being trans would work in this story, as I headcanon him as cis and therefore haven't put much thought into how the story would change if he was trans. But it was fun to draw this nonetheless.

Disclaimer: This comic is not meant to dog on or cause dysphoria to any trans women. Also, I know that some trans women can sing higher than some men, but that is not the case for this comic. I also know that a lot of trans women can hit notes higher than what Sarah is hitting, I honestly don't know music that well so I just chose a random note for her to hit. Lastly, Kenny is listed as merely "man" rather than cis man or trans man not to cause offense to trans people, but because I haven't decided yet if Kenny should be a cis or trans man. Saw the Hatsune Miku's high range test going kinda viral on TikTok, so I had to make a comic with Sarah and Kenny! Sarah is quite early on in her transition, and while she has trained her speaking voice enough to pass as feminine, she still struggles with hitting the same high notes that Kenny can hit, and she gets jealous.

DO NOT SHIP, THEY ARE SIBLINGS IN MY STORY. Luke loves his little sister, but being the bad boy type, he's not very affectionate. Sarah would like for her brother to tell her he loves her at least sometimes, though. So sometimes she squeezes him with all her might until he can't breathe to try and get him to admit he loves her. She's surprisingly strong, too.

In honor of my cast photos being taken yesterday (basically like school picture day but for community theatre people), here's Kosovo doing his cast photo! Decided to draw him because I looked at a picture of the country before going up for my cast photo so I could smile a little more naturally like I was a soldier at war and Kosovo was my wife whose picture I kept in a locket. I imagine that Kosovo would be the type to not know how to smile for photos so his smile always looks very fake. I was originally going to draw him in the normal black hoodie I usually draw him in, but then I remembered that for my cast photos they requested that we wear solid color T-shirts that were not black or white. So I had to change up his attire a little bit so he'd fit the dress code (I struggled a little deciding what color shirt he'd wear, but I eventually went with yellow to go with the yellow on his flag).

A little Anything Goes redraw!! First pic was drawn today, idk when the second pic was drawn but it was likely around March or April of this year. I cannot believe how terrible my anatomy was in the original, I'm still working on improving my anatomy but at least my characters don't look like bobbleheads anymore 😭 like bro your tiny ass neck cannot support that big ass head......it's only been a couple months since the original was drawn, but I feel like I've already improved quite a bit! Also both these drawings were based on the scenes in the canon musical where the Purser eyes people suspiciously when he believes they're up to some funny business. Given how rule-oriented he seems to be, I honestly don't know why he keeps letting these criminals and stowaways and all that get away with the stuff they do when he clearly knows there's something up. Can anyone say "plot convenience"?

👀wait what other productions have you been in, I love to meet a fellow actor

I started off my theatre hobby doing theatre classes in high school, unfortunately COVID hit around the time I started so I didn't actually get to be in my first show until senior year. My senior year (and very first) show was Nick Dear's Frankenstein! I played William :} when I graduated high school I was no longer eligible to be in their shows, so I started doing community theatre shows. Unfortunately I live in quite a rural area so good community theatres are kinda lacking, and since the only good community theatre I've been able to find in my area only does musicals, I haven't actually gotten to do a straight play in years. My first community theatre show was Seussical, and I played a Who and a Cadet! I'm currently in my second community theatre production which is Anything Goes, and I'm playing the Reporter and a Sailor! I know I probably haven't done that many shows when you take into account that I started doing theatre around 2019 (if we're starting from when I took my first theatre class), but I swear finding good shows to do in my area is like finding a needle in a haystack :( I'm excited to be doing the shows I can though and I hope to find more good shows to do in the future!

You're so lucky!! I auditioned for a local community theatre production of Witch, which is what got me into it, but unfortunately I did not get in 💔 there's no telling why I'm still so in love with a show I auditioned for 9 months ago and didn't even get a callback for, but here we are. I actually auditioned for Cuddy, he's my favorite character!! It's so nice to see someone else who also loves Witch, our fandom is practically non-existent 💔

(also please don't think I'm a bad actor or anything for not even getting a callback, I'm pretty sure the reason they didn't cast me is bc Cuddy has to kiss Frank and they're both in their 20s/30s, and I look really young even though I was 20 when I auditioned, so it lowkey would've seemed problematic if they cast someone who looks as young as I do for a role that has to kiss a character in his 20s/30s 💔)

These are some of my OCs' angry habits! Solen grabs his ears when he's angry, and Donnie closes his eyes when he's angry. Solen's angry habit has no meaning, I just thought of it one day, but Donnie's angry habit actually does have meaning! He closes his eyes when he's angry (meaning he can't see), and this was actually inspired by the phrase "blinded by rage"!

Drew my other, smaller "friend crush"! Like I said in my last post, I am aroace, so I don't experience romantic crushes, but I do experience what I like to call "friend crushes". You can read my previous post for what I consider to be a "friend crush". This guy is actually a small step below a friend crush, I still kinda wanna be his friend but I don't get nervous or fantasize about him like I do the other guy. Either way, I think this guy is pretty cool. I talked to him for the first time the other day. He was pretty funny, and when my friend joined the circle and showed him her Seussical art (I don't think he's familiar with Seussical), he actually seemed pretty interested. I also managed to get him to laugh at one of my jokes, which people don't normally do :> He reminds me a lot of Santa Claus, in a way. Big, rosy-cheeked, and jolly.

Decided to draw my little "friend crush" from rehearsals ☺️ for those of you who don't know, I am aroace and don't experience romantic crushes, but I do experience what I like to call "friend crushes". It's basically like where you get nervous around a person, fantasize about them, the smaller signs of romantic crush stuff, but instead of wanting to date them, you just want to be their friend. I'm not sure if I just gave myself the "artist's curse" by drawing him, I'm not sure if the artist's curse extends to friend crushes but the last friend crush I had that I drew didn't work out....so maybe I just cursed this whole thing by drawing him lol. I do want to be his friend but I am very nervous to approach him because A) he already has a pretty close friend at rehearsals and I'm afraid I won't be accepted into their group, B) I'm very insecure in myself and I'm afraid that he'll think I'm weird or something, and C) he looks to be near my age range but a little bit older, and I'm afraid that he'll think I'm too young for him (I'm almost 21 but I look about 12-17). I have a mere month left of the production to befriend him to a point where I can get his number/socials so the friendship doesn't fall apart after the show ends. I have autism and I have a hard time making/keeping friends so I'm really scared this won't work out 😵‍💫 does anyone have any advice for me

I recently came out as aroace, and before my realization I never really headcanoned any characters as aroace. But now since I'm out as aroace, I've been looking for headcanons/characters to put the aroace label on that AREN'T my self-insert OCs. This is proving to be hard because my main fandoms are Anything Goes and Witch (Jen Silverman ver.), which both center romance a lot. But then I remembered one of my old fandoms, who has a character that I still love and cherish to this day even years after leaving the fandom; Werner Werman from Cuphead. I remember being surrounded by Werner Werman x Dr. Kahl fanart when I was in the fandom, and it was one of the only popular ships with a favorite character of mine that I, frankly, didn't even see the appeal of. I remember (fairly recently) having a headcanon that Werner Werman was gay, and I even made an OC that was his little boyfriend. However, that ship never really went farther than just one drawing of the boyfriend OC (and the drawing was just the OC; not even him with Werman!). I think it was the only OC x Canon ship I've ever shipped to never earn itself art, or even a space in my brain. Despite the fact that I had literally created this OC for the sole purpose of being Werner Werman's boyfriend, I never saw the appeal of him x Werman. Overall, Werner Werman was (and is) the only character I've been presented with multiple ships and romance opportunities for, and I still said "nah" to all of them. Werner Werman was the only character I ever looked at and never truly shipped with anybody, no matter how hard I tried to put romance on him. As an aroace myself who once thought they were allo due to society's expectations regarding romance, and is similarly trying to decenter romance from my life, I feel like Werner Werman is a character I can really see myself in.

Due to shipping culture, society's expectations regarding romance, and a dash of internalized aphobia, I truly never even saw headcanoning characters as aroace as an option until I came out. But I am happy to present to you, my very first aroace headcanon since accepting my aroace identity; Werner Werman from Cuphead.

Some aroace positivity/comfort posts I made for myself to contradict the post I made yesterday (again, with my Anything Goes self-insert OC, Kenny). The first two pics are supposed to go together, while the third pic is a standalone. Kenny often feels ashamed of being aroace, he feels like he's not "normal" because he can't relate to any of the romance going on on the ship. Luckily though, his uncles accept him, and they're working on helping him feel less ashamed and let his true colors shine.

Little piece regarding my own internalized arophobia, but with my OC Kenny because he's somewhat of an Anything Goes self-insert OC. Kenny feels ashamed of being aromantic. He feels bad for breaking Sarah's heart (Sarah was his girlfriend before he came out). He feels emasculated because all the other men constantly talk about how cute they find the girls, and he can't relate. He doesn't understand how or why the other Sailors are willing to propose to girls that they barely even know. He looks at his uncles, who are so deeply in love, and he grieves how he'll never have that for himself. He feels like he's not "normal" because he doesn't relate to any of the romantic aspects going on on the ship. He's still unlearning his internalized arophobia and is still working on decentering romance from his life. For now though, he feels ashamed of his aroace identity and wishes that he could just be "normal".
