Tiger found caged in abandoned home gets second chance at wildlife sanctuary: ‘He seems to be so happy’

The estimated 350-pound tiger was transported to the facility, an affiliate of the Humane Society of the United States, on Wednesday afternoon, and is settling in well, Almrud said. There, he will have the chance to roam in enclosures of up to three acres.

Almrud, who estimates him to be about 2 years old, described the moment he first walked onto the grass at the sanctuary as remarkable.

“It was just amazing to see him walk out on grass and to see him explore and have that freedom of movement,” she said. “It was just such a reward and fulfilling to us.”

Now, he spends his days rolling around the grass in glee, Almrud said.

“He comes right up to the fence every time a staff member is present,” she said. “He seems very amenable to our presence.”

The tiger is eating well – a combination of chicken, humanely raised non-processed beef and whole prey complete with organs and bones. It appears that he was being fed chicken, which is what owners of exotic cats often feed them, but chicken alone does not provide the complete nutrition they need to thrive, Almrud said.

In addition, caregivers are tasked with keeping the tiger mentally stimulated by creating “pretend hunting” games and rotating him through different areas so he has access to new smells and environments to explore.

“He seems to happy and content,” Almrud said. “Our staff is just falling in love with him.”

Just an update! Since I got curious and the og post is from 2019.

His name is Loki now! In June he celebrated his 7th birthday at the sanctuary where he lives and thrives. Here’s a few pics of the boy:

I love Din Djarin so much because obviously he’s a very good dad, he would die for Grogu in a heartbeat, but also as a Mandalorian, he clearly has a deeply flawed understanding of what actual danger is. he’s out here convincing Grogu to mess with live wires, then running straight into active fire with Grogu tucked under his arm like a little green football. honestly it’s a miracle either of them are still alive.

Like a month ago I messaged a craft group about accessibility for wheelchairs and the answer I got was “there’s a lot of stairs but we have cute boys who can carry you”. And it’s…not good. As a wheelchair bound person I largely depend on people when I want to go out and do *anything* so I’m used to it, I laugh it off, make an annoyed post about it and off I go. But I wanna just say a thing real quick.

Even if I wasn’t gay, wasn’t a survivor scared of men, getting help as a disabled person is just…Not a pleasant thing to us! Imagine for a sec how you’d feel being carried up a flight of stairs. You’re a grown person. You’re being touched in an awkward way. You’d rather do it yourself. You’re So Uncomfortable. It’s not where I look for the beginning of a romantic relationship. So like…could abled people stop doing this thing where they think helping us in a condescending and infantilizing way is cute? Cause I’m real tired. Just get me a ramp or lift and I’m cool. I don’t need a dating service when I’m just trying to go about my day

So I’m rewatching the Bad Batch arc for research purposes and I just noticed something. 

The collective fandom (or at least those who like the Bad Batch) views Tech as an innocent cinnamon roll surrounded by chaotic bastards but…

We all saw the crazy entrance when the ship landed in the first episode. Like you’ve got to be at least partly insane to fly that low that fast with that little of space. Later in episode two we’ve seen Tech as the main pilot (while Wrecker is busy being… well, Wrecker), which means that crazy landing was most likely Tech’s doing and a common occurrence. Then later Tech suggests, without hesitation, to jump off a pipe from who knows how high up onto carnivorous flying reptiles that are in no way, shape, or form stationary can could easily be shot down by the droids at any time. 

Call him sweet and innocent all you want, but I firmly believe he is the most frightening member of the entire crew because you think “at least he’s sane’” and then get blindsided because he most certainly is not.

Sometimes when I go hundreds pages deep into people’s Tumblr archives, I find really funny posts and I weigh the pros and cons of liking/reblogging them.

Pros: I’ll have access to them later because they’re fucking hilarious

Cons: They might think I’m creepy. Despite the fact that it’s public and on the Internet, it is not socially acceptable to let anyone know the extent that you creeped their archives.
