child marauder hcs:
james- extremely naughty kid that is never told of. cries and throws tantrums if he can't have something or has to do something he doesn't want to do. mia & monty took him to a wizarding kids daycare thing so he could make some friends. on his first and only day there he stole everyone's toys, bit the adult in charge that tried to make him share, then cried that everyone is being mean to him until his parents came and got him. his parents proceeded to agree that everyone there was being mean to james. mostly surrounded by his parents and parents friends, got very doted on by them all. spent most of the time playing qudditch by himself with his parents watching him do tricks
sirius- had lots of tutors for various subjects, had daily classes. also had a teacher on pureblood etiquette that would just try to reinforce blood supremacist views. had playdates with other kids but he hated the kids that were invited (mulciber, rosier, avery, wilkes, etc) and would mostly fight them instead of playing with them). babysat by bellatrix often, her being his favourite cousin at the time, would play pranks on regulus, kreacher, and bella's sisters together. was made to do a bunch of different traditional hobbies when not studying & went to a lot of high society functions
remus- home schooled by hope. the home schooling was mostly gardening, beekeeping, knitting, with occasional reading time. didn't have any friends so would mostly play by himself, would go to the woods and play knights and pirates a lot with imaginary friends. helped out on neighbours fields, mostly holding stuff whilst neighbour fixed his fence or helped feed the sheep.
peter- went to a muggle primary school. was picked on and bullied a lot, didn't really have any friends. would play with neighbouring kids sometimes but they're all a bit older. his mum was usually busy with work, so did a lot of household stuff at a young age. got a job as a newsboy. very mature for his age and hates that/tends to watch other kids messing about with their friends longingly. has lots of guests staying round from all over so learns lots about people.
lily- was quite a messy kid, loved to bring bugs into the house, loved to paint and tended to get it everywhere. very outdoorsy so always tracking mud in. parents worked a lot which left petunia having to look after lily and the house, lily not really realising. went to a muggle primary. didn't really get on with anyone there as petunia, quite a few years above hers/then in secondary close to the primary, kept spreading rumours about her being weird. obviously met severus, became bestfriends. liked to mostly go to the empty hills, play on a swing she made herself, collected bugs.

peter is obsessed with sirius
first and foremost, sirius 'stole' peter's best friend, james. peter sees the impact sirius has on james, how pliant james is for him, willing to do anything for sirius. peter has never had a friendship like james and sirius'. then, sirius 'stole' the other friend in which peter started confiding, for he was more quiet like himself, remus.
but sirius is intimidating by himself: he oozes easy confidence, elegance, well behaviour and can be incredibly put together and perfect. he's unbelievably attractive, an athlete, and a symbol of every physical trait peter longs for. sirius was forced into being physically perfect by his social status, peter can't afford to because of his own.
but sirius is also explosive, loves to argue and fight, even with the people he loves. peter hates confrontation and can't handle sirius' teasingly passive aggressive streak. peter constantly feels as if sirius will explode on him any second, and that obvious fear only makes sirius more ambushing.
sirius is everything peter wants to be: charming, loud, confident, self-righteous, gorgeous, popular, well-liked, wealthy. peter stares at him in hidden bitter jealousy.
mind you, they are friends. peter learns to mirror sirius' cunty behaviour and they have similar humours, broken and mean. they can joke around for hours, but there's always that threat looming in the background, the knowledge that sirius will always have the upper hand.
ps: peter starts subconsciously crushing on sirius and it almost kills him when he slowly realises.

What do you think marauders era characters would be like as vampires?
anon, this is one of my fav asks i've ever been asked.
james- fairly young vampire, like lowk i see him being turned in like the 80s or so. turned by sirius. still dresses very 80s. i think he would kill but would specifically target bad people (ie. racists, bigots, etc.) & maybe sometimes he'd play with his food yknow, esp in the first couple decades, but kinda stops doing that as much as he gets older. misses the sun a lot. probably tries to start some kinda night footie club. technically doesn't need glasses but still wears them sometimes for the aesthetic. turns into a deer still (ie. carmilla turning into a cat, dracula into a dog, modern vamps into bats, so he turns into.. a deer. sometimes he goes in the middle of the road, making ppl swerve & crash & then eats them)
sirius- fairly old vampire. maybe turned in like 1600s. turned by alphard (idea by @iamthedamndonutdrawcat )finds humanity very interesting & loves messing around with technology & shit. rides a motorbike. does kill & has no qualms killing, also targets bad people but not always. still loves to play with his food but more so when its specifically humans he has a grudge against rather than just some stranger. tends to change clothes to fit into the modern era but does love to wear all black. turns into a dog, dracula style. doesn't rlly use it for hunting, just for fun & to freak ppl out.
remus- turned by greyback (very very old vampire) in 1920s. absolutely hates killing and tends to try to eat just animals, but will occasionally have a grudge with a human and brutally kill them (very louis du lac core yknow). dresses opposite of a vamp (light colours & wears wools and shit). broke asf so steals from his occasional victims. still dresses like its the 1920s but ppl just think that's his aesthetic. turns into a wolf but hates doing it so rarely does.
peter- youngest (turned in early 2000s), loves killing but hates hunting, especially alone. turned by james. "i became a vampire to suck blood and to fuck forever"- his motto. tends to stalk james. tries to join any vampire cults or groups or clubs he finds bcs he hates being alone. dresses with the times. did become a vampire eboy during 2020. turns into a rat. has found this to be extremely unhelpful for hunting & also embarrassing around other vamps.
lily- turned around 1960s by dumbledore (super old vamp from like 3000 bc), & was the first he ever turned, so one of the most powerful vamps bcs of that. very disarming towards people, which helps with huting. had a vampire bestie (severus) for like 50 or so years until he betrayed her for a vamp cult he joined. usually always wears light colours and fun patterns. hates any vampire rules anyone tries to enact. thinks a big part of being a vamp is freedom & connection to nature. very suspicious of other vamps & doesn't tend to easily get on with them unless they prove themselves. her sister, petunia, knows of her vampire-ness and thinks lily sold herself to the devil. turns into a deer. james tries to bond with her over this, but she is nott having it (yet)
mary- turned in the 90s by mulciber, after/while being attacked by him. hates other vampires & tries to distance herself from them. rarely kills (like even less than remus), maybe done it just once or twice. tends to feed by following blood banks or from animals. tries to live a normal life, working as bartender at a club & has lots of human friends. could probably turn into an animal but hasn't tried/has no interest in doing so. somehow close friends with emmeline & marlene despite their veryyyy different lives.
marlene- turned by sirius when they were dating only to promptly break up a week later and refuse to talk to each other for a century. turned in early 1800s (yes around bridgerton time). has long hair & always tries to cut it/gets pissed when it grows back (iwtv rules), started dressing in mens clothes after being bitten. being turned meaning to her finding freedom/an escape from societal norms & her family's expections. has no qualms killing & doesn't target specific types of people, but has no joy in doing so like others, merely has a big appetite. turns into a cat (carmilla style) & enjoys doing so to spy on a certain other vamp...
emmeline- turned by dumbledore in the 60s like lily. sees lily as like competition for dumbledore's 'child' (dumbledore doesn't see either as his 'child' and regrets turning them both, he was just having a hard time in the 60s. oh also sidenote he was turned by his then-boyfriend, grindelwald). has tried to start a vamp 'group' with dumbledore as the leader but dumbledore made her shut it down. hunts down other vamps and fights them. tries to enact a lottt of vamp rules based on old vampire culture, but barely anyone listens. turns into a bat
dorcas- turned in the mid 1700s by emma vanity. despite being turned, she stayed with her father until he passed, only then exploring the world/learning about what she is/looking for others like her. explored & learnt a lot from the ancient vampire world, making her very powerful despite emma not being that old. was the only vamp to join james' night football club. tends to kill painlessly but still targets bad people (murderers, abusers, bigots, etc). tries not to get too close to humans due to fear of losing/having to mourn them. has noticed an annoying cat keeps following her around..

defending sirius from the bad, reckless godfather allegations once again bc rmb how this man was sending daily owls before the last task (an increase from his already frequent owling throughout the yr)
Like Hermione, he seemed to want to concentrate on getting Harry through the last task, before they concerned themselves with anything else. He reminded Harry in every letter that whatever might be going on outside the walls of Hogwarts was not Harry’s responsibility, nor was it within his power to influence it.

The post owls appeared, bringing Harry a good-luck card from Sirius. It was only a piece of parchment, folded over and bearing a muddy paw print on its front, but Harry appreciated it all the same.
this man wasn’t fucking around with his responsibility as a godfather, or his attention to harry’s troubles. he was constantly advising harry to be prudent and stay safe within hogwarts.
‘You’d better get back to school,’ Sirius said, getting to his feet. ‘Now, listen …’ he looked particularly hard at Harry – ‘I don’t want you lot sneaking out of school to see me, all right? Just send notes to me here. I still want to hear about anything odd. But you’re not to go leaving Hogwarts without permission, it would be an ideal opportunity for someone to attack you.’ ‘No one’s tried to attack me so far, except a dragon and a couple of Grindylows,’ Harry said. But Sirius scowled at him. ‘I don’t care … I’ll breathe freely again when this Tournament’s over, and that’s not until June. And don’t forget, if you’re talking about me among yourselves, call me Snuffles, OK?’

sirius was in tip-top form both as a person and a parental figure in gof. no misplacing his love for james onto harry here, no sir.
and it’s a shame people continually overlook that in favour of his darker, low moments in ootp (where grimmauld echoed azkaban and the man is rightfully depressed) but harry himself empathises with sirius’ predicament
