To You
To you the one who held me until I was strong enough to live.
From the very first breath I was the crutch that you needed.
My heart beating for only one reason.
I was to be here for you to use me as a tool to fix your broken heart.
To you I was just a vessel for your rage.
To you I was an empty place to store your hate.
My blank slate turned to your treasure troves of mistakes.
It was never me you meant to hurt but because of your trauma I am the reason the house had no sleep.
You looked upon my face and seen the innocence you couldn't keep.
Groomed me to take all your pain while I watched you struggle with the leftovers.
I carried so many burdens for you that I couldn't see my own.
You shoved your guilt so far down into my soul it left no room for a small child to grow.
I suffocated daily on your behalf.
They took my body but you; the one that was to protect me; damaged my mind.
How can you not see that most of my life you caused the trauma to which I could not speak.
I was so young when protecting you became my norm.
Deny as you will my trauma stems more from you then it ever will them.
Once you realize this way too late the damage has been done and your secrets I will keep.
