Mika Goes To Prague

Hello friends! I've been wanting to announce this for quite some time so here goes nothing. I've been selected to go to Prague, Czech Republic for this Spring from March 12th - March 16th. Of course there comes a price with traveling abroad as volunteers. I'm fortunate for receiving a $500 scholarship through the Center for Leadership and Service, University of Tennessee and off-setting some costs with my on-campus job, but it would be so great if y'all could donate anything you're able to! I don't believe in marriage, but I do believe in true love. 

I believe every single human being in this world has the right and freedom to love whomever they choose regardless of sex, age, ethnicity, or background.

Why is it such a freakin' big deal about two people of the same sex creating a life for themselves together? It literally does not physically, emotionally, or personally effect anyone in anyway. 

Don't start stating bible verses and what have you. I'm not religious and I don't believe that an "almighty God" would ever look down upon same sex relationships. Do you know how long same sex relations have been occurring? Nope? Well neither do I but i'm sure it's been since before this world developed homosapiens.

Writer's Block.

Lately, I have been heavily slacking on my blog posts. Every day I think, "man, I just want to vent right now." So much has happened the past couple of months. Exciting things. Terrifying things. Imaginary things. I want the world to know what is going on in my world. But I have encountered such writers block so I decided to create this page for times I have urges to just let it all out.

Recently, someone told me: "Write what you know."

I'm nervous. I start college in 45 days. Yes, that means July 28th, 2014. Why so early? Well apparently my ACT Math Score was below a 25 and they suggested I attend math camp this summer if i want to graduate on time. I'm all for watching out for my future so of course being me, i signed right on up. Here are the perks:

I get to go to college sooner than everyone else.

I get to live in my dorm hall (not in my exact room idt)

I get to move in to my actual dorm room sooner than others.

I get to meet fellow freshman and upperclassmen.

I get to explore campus and learn locations of FOOD.

I get to live in a new city: Knoxville

I get extra practice in my most hated subject: math

I FINALLY GET TO START COLLEGE

Though I seem totally prepared, i am the least. I have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow:

Immunization Shots for Orientation

Prepare for scholarship recipient luncheon

Purchase dorm/class supplies

That's all for now. I wrote what I knew. But now I have WB again.

Just finished the book. Just like the remaining 7 billion people in the world, I too shed tears. Like my dear friend told me, this is not a cancer novel. It is about two teenagers who both are at war with cancer and the tumors that envelop and consume their whole lives. This not only affects you but it affects your perception of the world and the meaning of life. By finding one another and just being -- forgetting about the physical pain that follows your every waking move--in love, together, in their own little world, and making a Wish that secretly does come true. But like I said, although the plot revolves around the growing, unwanted life that can develop at any moment in your body, this is simply not a cancer novel. It is about the journey and conquering your fears and obstacles that hold you back from life. It is about being strong and finding those who are similar to you and exploring the true beauty of it all. Not the physical beauty but what makes of it. It is about acquiring knowledge of how to breathe and push through life, telling yourself everything will be okay, always and the negative feeling of not know what will happen next. It is about the unfortunate circumstances we are put through that only make us stronger and warriors. We all want happy endings, but first we want others to prove that they will come true. 

Sometimes, you must simply first lose the battle, before you conquer the war. 

Some may agree to disagree with how I perceived the novel, but that is the sole beauty of literature. There is no true summary. There is no true understanding. Our different experiences allow us to perceive the story for our own personal reasons. 

Did anyone else notice how the story within the story made the actual novel end without a true ending? We never found out whether the protagonist(s) ever did make it to the world where there are people who turn into the S word. 

However, to end this, I would read it again, and again. Simply because it was beautiful and I am still lost for true words to describe how I feel. Will definitely be seeing the movie soon with my lovely friends who shall read the novel tomorrow on their way to their cruise.
