If you look at the world and say “Yes, there are enough homes for people, yes, there is enough food for people, but if we give it away for free they won’t have earned it and the economy will collapse.” Then you have chosen money (a constructed medium of exchange) over living beings who only want to continue living in peace and safety.
And I have no qualms telling you, that is the wrong choice, and you have been brainwashed by this destructive, exploitative system.
friendly reminder that the age of technology is coming to an end and a new age of blood magic and dark rituals will take its place
Honestly? Its about time.
my only two moods ever are tenderness and hysteria
due to not wanting to. I will not be
My biggest advice to men talking to women: ask questions. Like beyond if we’ve heard of something. I’m talking to a guy right now who is nice, he’s very nice, he’s interesting, it’s fine, but he has not asked me anything except if I’m familiar with the thing he’s currently lecturing on. And god knows I’m talking a lot too because I know how to elbow my way into a conversation, especially if I disagree, but it is an epidemic (especially when I’m talking to nerdy boys, I gotta be honest) that they just. Don’t. Ask. No one likes to spend a conversation feeling like an audience who occasionally is allowed to shout something at the stage.
I wrote this post like two years ago after talking with one specific man but I could slot in at least a dozen other men who I liked! Enjoyed spending time with! Thought were interesting! And yet who didn’t believe in ever ending a sentence in a question mark.
Guys, she’s begging you to look into her heart! Open it up, find out what is inside of her!
To clarify I am just a simple lesbian hoping to have a nice conversation with people who care about my thoughts and opinions. I would say the majority of my conversations with anybody regardless of gender is not about me wanting to entrust my heart to someone, it is about talking about a subject we both find interesting and having an enjoyable exchange. You do not have to get weirdly intimate to achieve this.
she’s not into you shes just social
me when i see my cat rub against someone i don’t like
so im trying to decipher this chart on wikipedia that has common vampire weaknesses in it and
a ‘green/yes’ is a weakness, a ‘red/no’ is something that isnt a weakness, and a ‘?’ is something that has never been addressed but fucking riddle me this
in what lore are vampires weak to getting soggy in milk
i scrolled over to check to see what this could possibly be and
places a hand on me cheek
happy halloween month time for my favourite post of all time
If you’re an adult, do the stuff you couldn’t as a kid.
Like, me and my sister went to a museum, and they had an extra exhibit of butterflies. But it cost £3. So we sighed, walked past, then stopped. We each had £3. We could see the butterflies. And we did it was great. We followed it up with an ice-cream as well because Mum and Dad weren’t there to say no.
I was driving back from a work trip with 2 other people in their early 20s, and we drove past a MacDonalds. One of the others went “Aww man, I’d love a McFlurry.” And the guy driving pulled in to the drive through. It was wild. But it was great.
I went to a park over the weekend and I was thinking “Man, I’d love to hire one of those bikes and cycle round the park.” It took me a few minutes to go “Wait, I can hire one of those bikes!”
I guess what I’m saying is, those impulsive things you wanted to do as a kid - see the dinosaur exhibit, play in the fountains with the other kids, lie in the shade for 2 hours - you can do when you’re an adult. You have to deal with a whole lot of other bull, but at least you can indulge your inner 8 year-old.
Man shouldn’t be able to see his own face – there’s nothing more sinister. Nature gave him the gift of not being able to see it, and of not being able to stare into his own eyes.
Only in the water of rivers and ponds could he look at his face. And the very posture he had to assume was symbolic. He had to bend over, stoop down, to commit the ignominy of beholding himself.
The inventor of the mirror poisoned the human heart.
— Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet (1982)

When I’m reincarnated, I want to come back as a bookstore cat.
Livin the life.
Here be my addition
That’s actually a thing? I thought my local bookstore was the only one living their best life tbh
This one guides me to any sections he’s feeling that day
Mice like things they can tear up to turn into comfy nests. Like paper. Shop cats used to be everywhere, but the food industry doesn’t get to keep them any more. The book industry still finds them useful and has no such legal restrictions.
Also bookshop owners and patrons alike are crazy cat ladies/gents, so it makes them feel at home.
You man not purchase records today without first paying the “petting” tax.
We all know the “riches beyond your wildest dreams” is just getting to pet the cat some more. And yes, please.
fanfic writers on tumblr
their writing: the dawn breaks and you are anew. the person you once were vanished. the rising sun offers a fire to burn her to ashes.
me: hey there- i just wanted to you to know your work is amazing. i love reading your writing. please continue! it is so eloquent. your wording and command of the english language are just incredible. you show such a deep emotional intelligence.
them: lol ya i do a write sometimes thnx bb [gif of the rock]
where’s that post about how seeing a fic is like seeing a writer defending their dissertation and interacting with the same writer on tumblr is like finding them eating mayonnaise in their kitchen in the middle of the night because interacting with writers in the comments of a fic is like talking to someone coming down off a three-day finals coffee binge because that’s pretty much exactly what’s happening.
connections between the humane, the monstrous, and the divine:
1. “Wanna make a monster? Take the parts of yourself that make you uncomfortable–your weaknesses, bad thoughts, vanities, and hungers–and pretend they’re across the room. It’s too ugly to be human. It’s too ugly to be you. Children are afraid of the dark because they have nothing real to work with. Adults are afraid of themselves.” (richard siken, from editor’s pages: black telephone)
2. “Who has not asked himself at some time or other: am I a monster or is this what it means to be a person?” (clarice lispector, the hour of the star)
3. “This beast, this angel is both you and I.” (adrienne rich, from the complete poems: this beast, this angel)
4. “Frankenstein not only gives form to the dialetic of monstrosity itself and raises questions about the pleasures and dangers of textual production, it also demands a rethinking of the entire Gothic genre in terms of who rather than what is the object of terror. By focusing upon the body as the locus of fear, Shelley’s novel suggests that it is people (or at least bodies) who terrify people, not ghosts or gods, devils or monks, windswept castles or labyrinthine monasteries.” (j. halberstam, skin shows: gothic horror and the technology of monsters)
5. “Monsters exist because they are part of the divine plan, and in the horrible features of those same monsters the power of the creator is revealed.” (umberto eco, the name of the rose)
6. “But girls contain multitudes. We are made up of so many odd parts. The reason that the monster in Frankenstein is so memorable is that, when it opens its mouth, out comes the voice of an alienated teenage girl.” (heather o’neill, portrait of the artist as a young corpse)
7. “God should have made girls lethal when he made monsters of men.” (elisabeth hewer, wishing for birds)
8. “I think the devil doesn’t exist, but man has created him, he has created him in his own image and likeness.” (fyodor dostoevsky, the brothers karamazov)
