does anyone else struggle to have goals/aspirations/hopes/dreams?
for 15 years I dreamed of opening for a bigger artist on a real tour. then it finally happenedโfirst opening for Elio in summer 2024, then opening for Shayfer in spring 2025.
then there was a tour I really wanted to open for. I got my hopes really really high (seemingly for good reason), but in the end I didn't get it. and I got my hopes up about a few songs I was releasing, but none of them did very well. and I guess bit by bit maybe I stopped allowing myself to hope for things? I'm not sure.
other artists I know have aspirations like having a hit song, opening for a particular artist, playing a particular venue.
I feel like it would be nice to have goals like that again, because then there'd be something to take steps toward and maybe look forward to. I don't fully understand why I don't have those kinds of goals.
maybe it's just burnout?
I sort of worry about posting something like this because what if my mood is contagious... I want you all to have hopes and dreams! on the other hand, maybe someone has been through something similar and figured out a way through it. or maybe someone is currently going through something similar and will relate to this.
I'm not gonna pretend I know the feeling (a bit too early in my artistic pursuit for that) but maybe you don't need a goal?
I mean, you reached high points. It's not like you failed in your entire pursuit
Maybe it's okay to just create for a while. Without a greater goal, for the sake of making art
I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't have goals at all but maybe while you are between them you can just let yourself relax a bit (it also sounds like a good time to experiment with new music but I don't know enough to say that with confidence)
